Let me start out with the few positives - The lady that was working third shift was very friendly and professional and the rate was one of the best in the area. These two factors saved this hotel from a one star review.
Now the negatives:
Majority of staff was completely unprofessional - Seems like mom runs the hotel and has her young daughter working long periods of time. They used the hotel as their family hang out spot. They had friends visiting them at all hours. One of their guests even blocked off the entry way late into the evening one night we where there. The young girls working the counter didn't mind listening to loud rap music on their cell phones and computer during business hours. One girls boyfriend visited her constantly during her shifts and I am pretty sure I caught them making out on the floor one night when stepping outside. Watching the walking dead in the hotel lobby in the mornings.
Room was dirty - After checking in my wife walked across the floor barefoot. Her feet were black afterwards. When I opened the night stands they looked like the insides had NEVER been wiped down - disgusting. When I brought this to managements attention they literally giggled about it.
"We are remodeling" - Get used to hearing this because you will hear it a lot. It seems to be an excuse for everything rather than just apologizing. When booking the hotel we were told there would be a breakfast every morning. We found out they don't have their licence to serve food so no breakfast. Our room was bare bones. Nothing more than a TV, 2 night stands, a small table with one chair, a bed, and a microwave. This really is all that is in the room nothing more. One night I asked for an extra pillow and was told that they couldn't help me because "they are remodeling". No on site washer and dryer because "they are remodeling". The list goes on and on.....
No breakfast & broken microwave - we where told when booking the room there was a breakfast and there definitely is not. The hotel does not have a licence to serve food because "they are remodeling". We tried heating up leftovers in our room instead. Microwave didn't have a turn table and after 6 minutes couldn't even heat up some noodles. Had to use the lobby microwave late night.
Broken toilet seat - seat wouldn't stay up. Brought this to managements attention and asked for it to be fixed. I stayed for four days. It was never fixed.
Staff didn't know what they where doing - They didn't know how to set a wake up call. Didn't know what an express checkout was, etc, etc. The one time I did ask for a wake up call they sent it an hour earlier than I asked. Wasn't happy to be up at 5:30AM on a vacation day.
All in all the biggest positive was that the room was a much lower rate than anything else in the Indianapolis area during GenCon. Most of these problems wouldn't be as a big of a deal had they not falsely advertised on travelocity. I tried calling Travelocity so that the hotel could be given the chance to make it right. One week later and management hasn't bothered to respond to travelocity. Very...
Read moreHusband and I stayed there for 4 nights during the GenCon convention. There was a teenage girl running the desk wearing skimpy clothing, and sporting a visible hickey on her breast when we checked in. There is no elevator, nor even automatic doors in the entrance. We got to our room and saw that we had a bed, which was the nicest part of our stay, and a table with one very uncomfortable and broken chair. I walked across the room one time barefoot and had to wash them because my feet were black. So we asked for someone to come mop our floor which they did right away. Their website advertised a continental breakfast and there were signs in the lobby and at the desk saying that they offered a breakfast, but no breakfast was ever served and we were told that they were not licensed to hand out food. The drawers on the night stand had obviously not been cleaned in quite some time because they were filthy! We asked for an extra pillow to which we were told that they had no extra pillows to give because they are remodeling. I attempted to use the microwave in the room, which was sitting on top of a very small fridge, and when I opened the microwave there was no turn table. I attempted to heat up some food and after 6 minutes total in the microwave, my food had not warmed up even the slightest degree. I could smell something similar to burning rubber as well. I had to use the microwave in the lobby. While using the microwave in the lobby, the desk clerk and teenage girl were playing on their phones and dropping F bombs like crazy. Said desk clerk was wearing sloppy sweat pants and a dingy tshirt. Asked for a wake up call and no one knew how to set one. Our keys did not work half the time because they were only being keyed for one night instead our our entire 4 night stay. My husband went down to the desk once to find the teenager, who we assumed to be the daughter of the owner, on the floor, heavily making out with a boy. There was one staff member that was absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately I don't remember her name, but she was an older woman working the night shift. She greeted us the moment we walked in with a bright smile and jumped up to get us the extra towels we requested. She made light conversation but not so much that she kept us from going to our room to relax. She was the best employee we encountered! The other employees looked very sloppy, very lazy, and had no issue standing outside smoking and hanging out with their friends in front of guests. I've worked in hotels many years and have never seen such an unprofessional staff. If you are looking for a cheap room with just a bed and shower then this is the hotel for you, but don't expect hospitality at all. Very disappointed. It could be saved if the staff acted as staff and treated their hotel like a place of employment instead of their own personal hang out spot. The one nice employee, the comfortable bed, and the cheap rate is the reason I gave two stars. Otherwise it would have been...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel on the first night of our group motorcycle vacation and the last night of vacation. The two stays at this hotel couldn’t be any different. ||||First stay - there were a lot of druggie tweakers in the parking lot when we arrived. There were screens out on the first floor and you could see the people in the rooms dealing drugs to the people in the parking lot. We pulled into the lot with our motorcycles and we didn’t want to stay here. We were afraid to leave our expensive gear in our rooms to go eat dinner. The room was outdated and dingy. Pillows and towels were awful. But….none of our motorcycles were messed with. Our bikes were broken into where we stayed the other 6 days in NC so I gotta give some positive remarks for that. We were expecting the worst when we went downstairs to the parking lot the following morning but not a single bike in our group was tampered with. ||||Second stay - our entire group was completely dreading staying here again. We couldn’t cancel because there weren’t hotel rooms available in the area on such short notice. When we pulled in the parking lot, there were no druggies. All the screens were on the windows on the first floor. We got a room on the opposite side from where we stayed the first time and had a really nice room. Everything worked and there was a blow dryer. I’d swear it was a different hotel, NOTHING was the same as 6 days prior. ||||I’d stay here again if I knew I’d get the good section of the hotel. Great location with gas and restaurants nearby. I’m not even sure how to rate this hotel since I’d swear I was in a Twilight Zone episode because what we experienced on the first stay was the opposite of our...
