Working in IT as a remote support means the occasional travel outside a comfortable drive back home. I've traveled from Sacramento, to Mountain View, to Livermore, and now to Fresno. The last time I was sent to Fresno, I ended up near the college which made for a painful commute to South Fresno. Luckily, our travel agents this time assigned me to this Holiday Inn Express.
I was slightly surprised by the cleanliness of the buildings exterior, keeping an interior is relatively easy but a sun-baked building in an industrial area, that's a bit harder.
The inside at guest registration was clean and well laid out. They were sampling beer and wine in the meal area which I was way to tired to try but I did get some juice and snacks that went down quite well.
The room itself was better than its counterpart in Livermore but the bed was a little too firm for me and the blackout curtains unfortunately let just a little bit too much light in for me to turn in early. Road noise was minimal during the heavier trafficked times and was actually more quiet than the air conditioner by about 9 PM.
The next morning I had the breakfast and was surprised by how two hotels in the same chain, serving the same food, could be so different. Everything was at the top end of a free hotel breakfast My favorite was the biscuits and gravy, followed by the omelets.
If I have a regret, it's that I can't remember the name of the staff working 7/9. They were wonderful and fun to speak to. The true test of a hotel is would you return and in my case, the answer is yes. Though maybe a little sooner than I might have planned but when work calls that's all there is too it.
Closest things to downsides, it is in a industrial district so some of the buildings surrounding HIE are a little run down. There are also no real restaurants nearby (that I could find) but they are surfeit...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Holiday Inn, and while my experience started with a minor hiccup, the outstanding service and accommodations more than made up for it. Initially, I was placed in a room on the freeway side, which turned out to be a bit noisy. However, after bringing this to the attention of the staff, my concerns were addressed promptly and professionally.
Special recognition goes to Janiva Sandoval, the front desk manager, whose dedication to guest satisfaction truly stood out. Janiva went above and beyond to ensure I was relocated to a quieter room that better suited my preferences. Her warm demeanor, attentiveness, and problem-solving approach transformed what could have been a challenging situation into a positive experience.
The quieter room was incredibly comfortable, clean, and well-appointed with all the amenities I needed for a relaxing stay. The bed was plush, the room temperature was easy to adjust, and the ambiance was perfect for unwinding after a long day.
The rest of the hotel staff mirrored Janiva’s exceptional service, from housekeeping to the restaurant team. Everyone was friendly, approachable, and eager to assist with any requests. Additionally, the hotel’s facilities were well-maintained, including the lobby, fitness center, and dining areas.
Overall, my stay at Holiday Inn was wonderful, thanks in large part to the staff’s genuine care and professionalism. If you’re considering staying here, rest assured that the team will do everything possible to make your experience enjoyable and comfortable. I highly recommend this location and will definitely return...
Read moreKeep looking if you are used to staying in decent places. This is the worst holiday inn express I’ve stayed in, and below just about every other similar tier hotel brand. Review is from a stay on 9/14/24
not a very good area, okay for a quick 1 night stay by yourself , I wouldn’t bring my family here
this looks like it was some other hotel that was taken over and renovated as a holiday inn express, except it was poorly done, as I’ve never seen a holiday inn express this bad. Doors seem to have a ton of paint layers, don’t close very well and close very loudly. Caulking in the bathroom is peeling, discolored, and needs repair.
cheap dove soap and shampoo. Like the cheapest you’d find at Walmart. I’d rather just rinse with water than put that garbage in my hair.
Elevator was out of service and only one elevator. It was late, I was only sleeping four hours while I took a rest from driving, so I left my luggage in my car. I would have preferred to bring it in, but I wasn’t thrilled about carrying it up four flights of stairs.
For this price point (160-180) it should not be this shabby. Price needs to be much lower like motel 6 or red roof inn pricing. This is not what I expect for a holiday inn express. I travel very often (monthly) and while I don’t usually stay at holiday inn expresses, when I have, they haven’t been this bad. I’m typically at courtyard, Hilton, Sheraton, aloft, and similar for basic travel trips.
Front desk service was good, very standard transaction, no complaints there. The room was also clean, and had good furniture; if I had to work, there was plenty of room. Didn’t connect to WiFi so not sure...
