This was my first time buying a mattress, I was so confused because so many brands and type. I went to 7 different mattress stores and I still didn't get all the knowledge I needed. So, I studied and searched online, but still it's kind of different when I'm at the store. Until I went to mattress firm in the Pavillion at Durbin park st.john FL, the associate named ASHLEY TOBE was helping me and gave me a lot of information about their products and their deals during labor day weekend. But I didn't buy the mattress right away because I wanted to make sure what brand and type of mattress that I really like and for my specific needs. After I left the store I'm sure that I'll buy the mattress from them because ASHLEY TOBE's customer service was great ! After I decided what I'd like to get, I chated on their web chat with one of the associates name WAYNE, I was wanting to make sure they have the type of the mattress I like. WAYNE did a great job with quick responses to my questions. On the next day I went to the store ready to buy a mattress, ANGELYN CHESTANG or ANGIE was assisting me and taught me more about the mattress I like, She gave me options for my specific needs which was still the same brand just a different type. The processing was fast and easy, Their price beat the price of the competition. ANGIE and WAYNE customer service was excellent. I'm happy that even though I spent a lot of money for my mattress, at the same time I saved a lot of money too ! Buyers who finance beware! No one in this store, including the management, knows how any of the Synchrony plans work! I just found out I have to now pay hundreds of dollars a month to make sure the difference I paid on an upgraded bed gets paid before the expiration of the promotional purchase or I will have to pay 39% in accrued interest! The difference of the upgraded bed, which was charged as a 2nd promotional purchase, wont have any of my payments allocated to it because the original purchase thats on a 3 year no interest plan has to be paid off FIRST before it allocates money to the smaller plan that expires 2 years before the bed. So in order to avoid paying the accrued deferred interest, and to make sure the 2nd charge for the difference is paid off in time, I now have to pay the $170 min payment for the bed PLUS an additional $300 for the 2nd charge. Thats a total of $470 a month! And I have to call Synchrony after making each payment to ask them to allocate the additional $300 to that specific plan because otherwise it wont automatically happen. Synchrony told me its how the store charges the plans. Make sure you DONT return a bed because you will have to deal with this! Also they resell the beds that get returned. How gross. Go educate yourselves on the plans you sell people because you are HARMING consumers by not knowing what you are selling to customers. Im SHOCKED at the lack of knowledge in finance. Shame on the manager for not being informed. And shame on him for not holding a meeting to have their Synchrony rep come in and teach the employees about how the plans work. We selected 3 options off the website that were said to be on display at the Durbin location. Only 2 of the 3 selections were available for "testing". We explained why we selected those items and our mattress expert with 13 years experience helped educate us on the pros and cons of each. She was very helpful throughout the process, not "pushy" at all. She never rushed us. She allowed us to ask questions and provide valuable feedback throughout the process. I even complimented her on being the best mattress salesperson we've met during our lifetime (78 years). She offered other options and explained the benefits of each. We tried some of the options offered to evaluate the differences within the product lines and made a unanimous joint decision on the one king mattress we both liked best. We liked one of foundations so well, we decided to purchase it and replace one that we've hade or years. The retired CPA/CFO in me objected to some somewhat "misleading" advertising. There was no "15% off today discount" on the specific mattress we selected. "Free (doorstep) delivery" did not include inside installation and removal at an additional cost. Minimal discounts were provided but nothing near to 15% of the new mattress cost. We're old school and are are keenly aware of today's "pay more, get less" tactics. This was different.
