The absolute worse motel I have ever been to, and still trying to get my refund. Checked in somewhere around 9 pm and instantly took a nap. I woke up 2-3 hours later to go to the bathroom and noticed MOLD on the bathroom curtain. It wasn't even at just the very bottom (which would indicate fresh mold) but it literally speckled up a whole quarter up the curtain (Which indicates this mold has been growing for some time!) Upon further inspection, I noticed the toilet wasn't clean under the bowl, hair at the sink, the second bedsheets were filthy and covered in who knows what, the refrigerator was disgusting, and the smoke alarm was uninstalled. Complete health and safety hazard so I reported to corporate (Red Lion) and the city (Garland Health and Housing departments). When I went to the front to ask for a different room or a refund, the lady argued with me saying there were no rooms available (despite the website saying there was), there are no refunds, and suggested I SPEND THE NIGHT to complain to the owner in the morning. I was absolutely furious. I don't care what your dumb refund policy is, if your renting out a room that has clearly violated the health and safety code- then the moral thing to do is at minimum offer a refund and apologize. Instead I was given attitude, rudeness, and was flat out ignored when I asked for a name and/or number of someone I can talk to about my experience. It wasn't until I came back a second time with photos of everything (since she tried to deny there was mold) that she changed her attitude as her friend was there visiting her at work. She told me she would give me a refund if I had paid in cash instead of my card (I did not reserve online BTW), and when I showed her the photos of the mold she promptly said she wasn't the one that cleans the rooms and I can come back in the morning to talk to "him" (Asked for a name and didn't get one) in the morning about my refund. I told her I will not stay in the room since it had mold and gave her my room card. She assured me I could call in the morning and said "he" would be in by 9 am. Hopefully I can get a refund either through "him" directly, or from their cooperate office. I also hope the city investigates my report and makes them properly clean their rooms and install their smoke detectors. The lady really needs a reality check. The rudeness I was faced with from her was absolutely appalling. Her customer service skills needs work. A simple "I'm sorry, I'm not authorized to give a refund. You can call my boss in the morning to discuss the room and refund. I'm sorry the room didn't reflect our standards." would have been the simple and perfect response that would still have led me frustrated but at least I wouldn't have been so upset and angry. I work and live in south Dallas so I understand how frustrating and rude customers can be, but I gave her absolutely no reason to be treated the way I was...
Read moreTo start with I had a family member book my room for me on Priceline and put my name and info down for Guest Info. I gave the man at the front desk my passport and debit card while we waited for the reservation to come in and he said that everything was good so far and we were just waiting for the reservation to come through. This is meaning he already ran my name and everything. While we were waiting I mentioned that I have a service dog. An ADA registered service dog. Not ESA. And I have the paperwork in my email and files from the ADA, as well as a letter from my doctor, a card stating the laws regarding service animals, medical records, her ID card and my handler ID card. However, none of that was going to be good enough for this man. He wanted a hard copy ID card, which from what I've seen can cost anywhere from $50-$200, which is why I went with the cheaper and digital option instead. So I have her ID card, it's just in digital form. Shouldn't make a difference. But no. This man went as far as calling his manager and making my bf and I talk to him for probably 30 minutes until I could finally get my laptop out and transfer the files over to my phone. Then they were all of a sudden okay with it?? Anyways. I dropped that whole situation I just wanted to get into a room, shower, and sleep. So he asked for my ID and credit card again. Which he'd already seen and put into the system by the way. Looked at for maybe 2 seconds then asked to see my State ID. I told him it had been stolen a few months ago and is currently at the Mesquite Police Department because they found it on a girl they arrested who had my ID as well as several others and several different credit and debit cards in her possession. He then asked if I had a picture... i was like okay i guess?? (this was already ridiculous, i've never had this many issues checking into a hotel, especially one that was $44 a night and 1 star), however i showed him the picture of my ID and that's when he said I needed to leave bc apparently I had been there before using fraudulent cards. I once again explained I've never been there and my ID has been stolen. Anyways, he decided to call the police who was very helpful. He got me the company I apparently work for and what third party site "I" used to book there before. However, I could not get a refund right away and I'm sure the only reason I even got one in the end is because the officer who the employee called out there asked for the phone number of who I need to speak to directly to get it back. Overall, it looks like a dump from the outside. Most definitely drug dealing and who knows what else goes on there. The parking lot signs even say "Park at your own risk". Maybe okay for an emergency situation like I was in tonight, but other than that...
Read moreWorst hotel to stay in! No privacy from the office whatsoever! They walk around the building constantly and watch the cameras to see if you're breaking any rules that you haven't broken! I felt very uncomfortable. Everytime I walk out one of the staff members is out there staring at you and walking around. You can't even have your own sister visit you for 5 mins without them being in your business. I came here to stay a couple days because of having to move and waiting for my house to be ready, it was cheap and close to where I needed to be. If you want privacy this is not the place to go! I had my dog in the car waiting to be picked up and they called me into the office to tell me that they don't allow pets, which I already knew, which is why they were still in the car and never even once step foot in the room. They don't even give you a chance to get your things inside the room without complaining about something! Black Mold on the shower curtains, and based off other reviews they will not refund you! Don't bother asking for one! I had a non smoking room, and the smoke detectors were disconnected. The fridge was disgusting, looks like it's never been cleaned, the sink was clogged. I couldn't use it properly. The button to the microwave would not allow it to open it had to be forced open to even use it. The cards to the rooms do not work properly either. I came back with food in my hands and I called the office twice to come help me with the door only for the guy to hang up in my face. And not answer the second time. I had to walk down there and all they did was stare at me until I asked why he hung up on me and did not answer my call the second time. There were two staff members in there why was I being ignored, I have no clue. I told them that the card was not working, he slid it without asking me the room number, he did not check me in so that tells me they watch you all the time! All I did was walk down to my car and he walked upstairs and down the hall and stood there staring at me until I came back to my room. Very weird! If the staff gave people some privacy, I would have stayed a bit longer but now I am moving to a different hotel because this is not what I had in mind when I booked it on Priceline. Very sad. And the doors need to be updated, anyone could have broke in at any time. Very unkept place. 0/10 would never recommend this place! Do...
