India Garden has excellent food, friendly service (not always fast), and a great atmosphere.
Edit 11/09/24: I'm pretty sure ownership has changed. We went for dinner on a Saturday evening and were faced with a buffet. Unfortunately, the dishes provided did not meet expectations. The tikka masala (chicken and paneer) was way too sweet. There was one piece of naan, hard as a rock and after we ordered more, it did not arrive in the buffet until we were already full. The new naan was quite tasty, though. There were no samosas on the buffet, so we ordered chicken samosas for $9.99. I would not order those again, but might try the vegetable samosas as the chutneys (mint and tamarind) were very good. Plain rice was good. The majority of the dishes on the buffet had obviously been there for a while as the tandoori chicken was extremely dry, the soup was quite salty, and all of the dishes were room temperature. I do not recommend the buffet, and hope that ordering straight from the menu would produce better results. Based on our dine in experience with the buffet, I don't think I'll return for a meal with the menu. The buffet is $18.99 per person. We were not offered a menu, so I don't even know what would be on it.
As for the atmosphere, the Indian chic decor has changed from colorful tapestries to hospital white. The tv often played music which clashed with the music playing over the sound system. At one point, an employee came out to ask us how the meal was. His polo had several stains on it, and it was clear he didn't wear an apron while cooking.
The restaurant was extremely busy with to go orders, so I imagine the dishes are better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad an itch for Indian food after a long drought. Iāve had hit or miss experiences looking for an affordable Indian joint in Dallas - I chose this place on a whim for lazy Friday delivery. Iām far from an authority on authentic cuisine, but for a casual consumer who enjoys the entry-level / non-exotic recipes, this really ticked all the boxes. Their service is fast, the food is delicious, serving sizes are robust, and they package everything very securely for delivery. I canāt speak to their quality from the perspective of someone who knows these meals through heritage (Iām guessing their ādeeper cutā cuisine is great based on what I had) but itās easily worth a try for casual consumers of Indian food who are looking for an accessible or convenient option. This is a ācanāt go wrongā situation, especially for the prices offered!
Specific items I ordered/enjoyed: -Mango lassi - tasted great, smooth and cold on arrival -Lasuni gobi (fried & seasoned cauliflower) - great layered spices and cooked just to the point of being tender without becoming mushy -Garlic naan - never had a naan I didnāt like, but theirs had the trademark pockets of crisping exterior while retaining a soft, chewy texture -Butter chicken - I know itās the least exotic choice for an entree, but itās an old comfort food of mine - theirs is aromatic & creamy. The sauceās tomato base comes through so itās not cloyingly fatty/buttery like less successful versions Iāve had at other restaurants -Kheer - smooth, silky, theirs was a great subtly sweet dessert to wash down the rest of the wreck of savory food I just ate.
Really enjoyed this place, you should...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you want average Indian food with terrible customer service go here. I called in an order to go on my lunch hour...2 orders of chicken tikka masala, one butter chicken, veggie samosas and 2 mango lassi. Each order was supposed to come with rice. Their oven was broken and they didn't have any naan which was super disappointing but I continued with my order. I got there picked up the order and got home to realize there was 3 containers of chicken and two containers of rice. One rice container SLIGHTLY bigger than the other. I call them back thinking they forgot a order of rice. A woman answered but there was a language barrier and she put me on hold to speak with a man. After a long hold on my lunch STILL he answers with an attitude and says there is two containers one large and one small. I say but there are three orders why aren't there 3 separate containers of rice because this is not much bigger than a small and the "large" container wasn't even full all the way. To which he says "OH MY GOD MA'AM THE LARGE HAS TWO ORDERS IN ONE." At that point I had no more time in my lunch hour to argue or to take it back for refund so I just took it as a loss. The chicken dishes were ok, I've had better Indian food and there way more sauce than chicken, neither container contained a lot of rice. And to add insult to injury when I was complaining to a family member she said she stopped going to this restaurant because the last time she went she saw a roach!!!...
