UPDATE-2.1.2024
DON'T STAY HERE!!! AND, IT DOESN'T SEEM THAT CHOICE HOTELS, IS GOING TO REPAIR THE ELEVATOR ANYTIME SOON!!!
THE ELEVATOR HAS BEEN OUT OF ORDER SINCE LAST THURSDAY!!!
Now, the front desk clerk, Ashley, who I paid to move my car and bring up the groceries I could NOT physically go back down and back up the stairs, did NOT even try to give ANOTHER management lie and give an excuse why the elevator had NOT been repaired.
But, SURE DID charge me a higher rate and late fee for a one day payment. The manager was even behind me earlier this week as I struggled to walk down 3 flights of stairs, one at a time with my dog, and stated that the elevator would be repaired earlier this week. Oh, and, they even charged me with a higher rate, with a tv that went out last Sunday, and ASHLEY lied and said that there was NO other flat screen tv in the hotel she could bring to my room. I also noticed a gross stain on the mattress pad that was not obviously changed by the hotel maid staff from the previous staff when I had to change my sheets because the hotel management does NOT clean the rooms for 14 days after you have been at the hotel.
UPDATE--JANUARY 29, 2024 The elevator is STILL NOT working, so, that means as a handicapped person, I will have to go down 3 flights of stairs AGAIN!!! And, last night, the picture on the tv in my room stopped working. I tried unplugging the tv and cable box to reset it, but all I could hear was the sound, NO PICTURE. I called the front desk, and all the front desk clerk would say is I'll make a note of that and I'm sorry. I asked if she could bring a tv from another room, and she replied "no" the hotel is full. It's nice that she at least apologized, but that didn't fix my tv or the elevator!!!
I've been a guest here since Tuesday, Jan. 23rd believe. The front desk clerk did NOT provide me with a receipt.
I am a paying guest at Woodspring Suites at 904 Rockmoor Dr., Georgetown, Texas 78626, which is a handicap accessible room. I am a handicapped person who needs elevator access.
Initially the front desk clerk seemed very accomodating, but has since proven otherwise.
When I went to the elevator on Thursday morning to go to work, the elevator was NOT working, and had no choice but to use the stairs very slowly and one at a time. Now, it is Saturday, Jan. 27th, and the elevator is STILL not working. My dog had to sit in my car for 9 hours on both Thursday and Friday, because I could NOT go back up the stairs to take him back to my room after taking him out to go to the bathroom.
The front desk clerk finally stated this afternoon about 3p that there is a sensor that is out on the elevator. I told her that if the current elevator repair firm cannot repair the elevator, that the hotel management NEEDS to hire another firm to repair the elevator company, but she stated that they could NOT hire a different firm because they have a contract with the current firm. I told her that the company that they should hire an attorney to fire the current firm.
I asked to speak to the manager which was at approximately 3:50 p.m., Sat., Jan. 27, 2024, and he was gone until Monday morning. He wasn't there when I called at approximately 8 a.m . this morning; so he didn't even work am 8 hour shift when there was a major problem, like the elevator being out.
There is NO valid excuse that the elevator should be in disrepair for more than 24 hours with handicapped guests on upper floors. I have NOT been offered a room on the first floor after expressing my concern with the front desk clerk, Ashley on Thursday evening.
And, the other issues I noted are the smell of cat urine in the elevator, and a strong unpleasant odor outside of the elevator on the 1st floor, my toilet runs for about 10 minutes after it is flushed, the light above my bed flashes and the bed is very hard and uncomfortable.
It is also VERY difficult to get in and out of the hotel, being handicapped, with the type of doors the hotel uses, which require a key swipe at each door once inside the very front...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe came for the grand opening of this hotel, and at first, I was sure my review was going to be about how great it was. We were their first customers, and the staff liked us a lot. It was amazing to think of the thousands of people who would come later, but we'd always have those special first days.
My party wound up liking our rooms and the cheerful staff so much that we stayed a week just to enjoy the good vibes.
The problems came toward the end of our stay. One of our rooms started to smell bitter, as if the waxy coating on the wooden floor was evaporating. No problem, a grand opening always has glitches. I asked if the front office could switch the icky room to a nice one, and they said "Of course!"
My group had a busy day, so we were tired. I asked: Do I need to put my stuff in the new room immediately, or can I go slowly?
The staffer (who felt like an old friend by now) said "Don't worry about it. I'll make keys for both rooms that will last overnight. We can finalize the move in the morning."
I slowly brought my luggage in bit by bit, and also got some sleep. Being able to take my time really helped.
In the morning, I was woken up early by the front desk calling me. A different staff member was on the phone. She asked "Could you come down to the office to make sure your keys are working?"
When I arrived, she started accusing me of not paying my hotel bill, in practically a blind rage. Struggling to figure out what she meant, I asked if this was related to switching rooms? "Nuh-uh, that's not a service that we offer."
I told the story about it, and the woman replied in an angry tone, "If someone helped you do that, they're in trouble. That's not something we do."
She seemed bitterly angry at my confusion, and criticized my way of thinking and my assumption that everything was fine, and ranted for a really long time. Eventually she shook her head, said "I'll let it slide this time," and sent me on my way.
As I went back to my room, I thought about how her phone call to get me to the office was about keys, and then she started yelling.
Did an employee seriously just lie to me so that they could attack me with my defenses down?
Yes, that's exactly what happened.
The next time I slept, I noticed the new room's pillows smelled like mothballs. Resting my head on them must have squeezed out some fumes from the factory, and I coughed when I sniffed them.
Again, not a problem! Like always, I'd mention my little issue, the staff would be delighted to help, and then we'd talk about our days and smile.
I went back to the office and ran into the new person again. I told her my pillows were making me nauseous and I needed fresh ones. "Nuh-uh," she said like before, and my heart sank.
"You just got that room, and the rules say if you've had it less than a certain amount of time, we don't replace anything."
But I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep--
"No. Everything in the rooms are the same. We just opened, don't you know? Everything's brand new, and something brand new can't be broken."
But aren't there always some glitches and defective items?--
"No and I'm not wasting my staff's energy on made-up problems."
I was pretty upset at suddenly being treated like a con artist, so I decided it was best if I ended my stay before things got any worse.
As I checked out, another new employee was running way too fast for indoors and slammed into me. She shook her head, very loudly said "SHEESH!" and furiously stomped off in a rage.
I can't believe it ended like this. It only took a week for employees who say "Sorry. How can I help?" to be outnumbered by new employees who would rather say "Sheesh! Stop wasting my time!"
If the higher-ups can't see the value of kind staff who love people versus rage-prone staff who hate their lives, this hotel is doomed.
It's a shame, because BEFORE I was lied to, screamed at, told I wasn't allowed to sleep, slammed, then screamed at by someone else, I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMan, oh man. Where to start!? This place is an absolute JOKE of a hotel. The staff is not very friendly at all. They seem to treat guests as more of a burden than the people keeping them open. The room I was in wasn't half bad when I first walked in. I thought to myself, "ok, pretty decent little room." I usually like to stay at extended stays because of the kitchenette. Great for saving money and pocketing some per diem to just cook at the hotel. Well, don't plan on it. There's no pots, pans, utensils of any kind in the room. So I just figured they kept them up front to help prevent theft. WRONG! They don't have them at all. I asked the front desk and the lady said, "we don't supply those, we're an extended stay. People bring their own." Uhh, what? So there went the idea of cooking. After staying 3 nights I had used the two towels provided a couple of times each, so I asked the desk if they could service my room, or at least trade me out for some new towels... They said, "yes, for an $8 Lenin cleaning fee!" Uhh, a WHAT!? Yes. They charge you for new towels, or tell you to go wash them in the guest laundry room. I was floored. I stay in hotels often as I travel often for work. Never have I heard of this. She again told me, "well we're an extended stay. So we are different." This time I told her I've stayed in MANY an extended stay hotel and NEVER have they not had cooking utensils or did they charge for towels. At this point I'm extremely annoyed with this stay. Next. My stay was booked for Monday-Friday. Wednesday they call me and ask me when am I going to check out? I said Friday, like planned. Not the biggest deal, but again. Just another annoying thing. The pillows on the bed are god awful. I literally went and bought some from Walmart bc the ones provided were tiny, very well used, and had stains on them. Disgusting. The beds are held up on some straight up dollar store bed frames that feel like it's going to give way at any moment. I'm not an overly large man either. I'm 6' 210lbs. The mattress itself is hard and extremely uncomfortable. The lights are really odd as well. You can either have one on over the bed. Or all of them on at once. That's it. I tend to keep the kitchen lights on instead of the room lights so they don't kill my eyes. The air conditioner smells musty and everything in the room feels damp while it's running. The TV remote only changes the channel to the TV. Doesn't turn it on, or change the volume. I ask the desk if someone could come take a look at it. She told me, "that's just the way they work." Again. Annoyed. The microwave had a paper plate still in it that was obviously well used by the previous tenant. Again. Disgusting. The shower sliding door will also not stay closed. So every few seconds you have to close it again to prevent a huge watery mess on the floor. This has been an overall miserable experience. The project I'm working on down here is going through the summer and into fall. I made strong suggestions to my office to never book here again. Save yourself the time and headache. Pay an extra $20 a night and stay elsewhere. If I could give zero...
