Wow, I'm not even sure where to start. I've been doing food reviews for years and never felt the need to post a bad one but this place was so just so bad. I stopped filming for my tiktok knowing I wouldn't bother posting it. First thing I noticed was the poor attempt to look like a hipster paradise. Something I throughly enjoy most times. The drinks aside from soda were mostly loaded with sugar and that fake organic health food style stuff that sells really well for 6 bucks a pop lol.(idk what their price was I didn't bother asking I just went with a diet coke as I need low sugar and it seemed the only feasible option besides water. Then I encountered my first real red flag. The menu was poorly organized. A small menu is usually a green flag of a chef that changes with what's in season and uses fresh ingredients..but that was not the case here. After someone barked at us and asked if we were ready we felt rushed and ordered a Bleu cheese burger and a "fog horn" (chicken burger). We made our away along the exposed plumbing decor that seemed to insult hipster culture more then anything, to our unsurprisingly uncomfortable seats. One great thing SUPER CLEAN BATHROOM. We love that so not all bad. An exceptional plus if you have to run and spit up what you have been served. Okay so few minutes go by and our burgers come. The presentation or lack of might have been the star of the show a metal plate (another poor attempt at decor I think, I certainly don't think they ran out of plates) a small burger a peice of wax paper and a pickle that's it. The Bleu cheese burger only had about a teaspoon of cheese in the very middle. The chicken burger was topped with ice cold guac no doubt defrosted fresh off the guinsburg truck. The worst part by far tho was the extreemly crumbly clearly stale and previously frozen bun. The cheese was Luke warm and the giant pieces of cilantro from inside the burger were jarring. I don't mean to be unfair with this review.I think that when a town like Great Barrington starts to become more popular some people think some popular decor organic junk food and a buisness licence entitles them to take advantage of people and charge high prices for poor quality food. This isn't a small town restaurant, bistro, or place at all for real community members. It's a place to take advantage of the out of town crowd. So for this reason I posted one of my only bad reviews. Hopefully...
Read moreWent to order food, a bit of a long line but not too bad. When we got to ordering the old lady behind the register was extremely rude. We asked how long the wait would be and she said 20 mins, and that it would be like that everywhere in Great Barrington, that the food is the best here, and recommended we go to McDonalds since we didn’t want to wait. We said we will wait, and ordered one piece of already made quiche. The cashier said “I will give you two,” then proceeded to charge us for two. I told her we only want one and asked us if we really wanted just one with a very nasty and judgement look. We confirmed just one and said she will give us coffee and wait. Spoiler alert - never got this coffee. We sat and waited for over 30 mins, and then decided to ask one of the servers, who informed us that to go orders are at a different window. Keep in mind, we were sitting right in front of the cashier the entire time, and this food was already made! All they had to do was heat it up. To top it off, the quiche tasted like it was dipped in oil right before giving it to us. Extremely rude service and the food is not so good. If the flies on the pastries you see while you wait in line don’t make you skip this place, hopefully this...
Read moreGood, but not great. Burgers here were excellent, flavorful, well cooked, and reasonably priced. In addition to beef, they feature chicken, pork , quinoa, and bean burgers to meet any interest... But, surprisingly, no gluten free rolls. Fries were a disapointment. Parmisan lemon pepper fries did not have any apparent parmisan cheese on them, and only a hint of lemon pepper. Moreover, they were cold and soggy. Skip them. There is a nice selection of beer/ale and hard cider on tap. The Mass Appeal Hard Cider was crisp but light... Great taste. In addition to burgers, they have a good selection of salads and sandwiches for the lunch crowd, as well as 3 soups. I tried the potato leek soup, which, while fresh, had no chunks of potatoes. There is a selection of egg dishes, as well as pancakes, for the hot breakfast crowd. One oddity: although the food is served cafeteria style, and you are asked to bus your own table, they ask you (when you pay for your meal) if you want to leave a tip. For what, I wonder? In sum: decent but uneven food, small menu, fresh ingredients. If you want to eat healthy, this place may meet your needs. Just don't expect...
