I came to town driving a Uhaul for my daughter who moved into a small apartment about 3 miles from here. The Uhaul return was 0.6 miles from here. Without access to a sidewalk along a busy road, I walked to the motel and found it to be deceptively large, but dated. There is a part of me that likes the notion of a motel, where you can drive up to your door and unload your stuff. Front desk staff here is courteous and the lobby is nice. Check-in was a breeze. I came over to my room and looked. Initially, the room looks fine, but there is a smell that resembles the sweet but skunky malodor of marijuana. As a detox nurse, it is an odor I know very well. The bed by the door has odd stains on the comforter. I pulled back the spread and could not rule out if those sheets had been slept in by someone else. So i turned my attention to using the other bed. The bathroom's exterior wall is only about 15 inches from the foot of this bed, so certainly this room is not ADA compliant. The bed did look clean and unused, so i slept in this one these next 2 nights. The back nook where where the sink is (as sink is not in bathroom) has a little coffee pot with coffee packets. There is a hair dryer, iron, microwave, fridge, and safe: all amenities that are nice, but ones i never use. Now here is the kicker: I am a sucker for a good shower and this hotel has the BEST shower i have encountered in any hotel, ever. Not kidding. The water gets hot and does not run out. There is a lot of good sustained pressure, so them aching muscles got a hydro massage while washing the sticky sweat off my body. These serta mattresses are old, but they are still comfortable. I slept very well in these old beds. The AC functions very well. Denny's is nearby, as well as a 7-11 and CVS. There is a pool that is dated, hot tub that is filled in with rock, a broken ice machine, and 2 washers a dryers on premises. The breakfast is devoid of meats, but is otherwise fine. I do not like the smell nor do i like to question if sheets have been used prior. Despite the great sleep and a great hot shower, i do not think i will stay here again unless the fairfield north of here is full. I did not like the drunk/high man beating on my door at 1 am the night before last, but this is a security risk that can occur at any motel. I think there are many positives about this facility, and if I were an owner/operator who was in it for the long haul, I would be making investments in the upkeep, improvements, and consider getting a consultant who knows what they are doing. This immediate area is underserved with hotel options; so the owner does have incentive to make...
Read moreCheckin was very easy - walked in, gave the desk my name, and they had my reservation with no issues. Reviewed the policies, signed and provided my ID and card I used to reserve. Got my keys and the WiFi password.
Parking was pretty good - lots run parallel to the rooms, which from what I saw were all outside facing. Due to where my room was in relation to the stairs, I was unable to park at my door, but was able to park in the spot right behind that one.
I get inside, and see two beds, desk with chair, nightstand, TV, and dresser. Further into the room was a mini fridge, microwave, and safe. The air was a wall unit, but worked pretty good minus the fan being very noisy.
Bathroom sink is outside of the “bathroom”, which isn’t a problem. Most budget hotels do this, and it works out if you have multiple people in a room - one can shower, one can brush their teeth or do their makeup.
Inside the water closet (“bathroom”), was very spacious. The walls on either side of the tub showed water damage, which was obvious why once I turned on the shower. The water pressure was so great that it was hitting the back of the tub wall and spraying outside onto the wall and floor. Closing the curtain was futile as the curtain rod was loose in the wall, and drooping in a way that forced the shower curtain to about about 6-8” on either side. I ended up using all of the towels to clean up the mess on the floor.
The tub had rust around the drain, and had a single place to perch your body cleaning supplies.
The towels mostly looked clean, but one hand towel in the sink area had stains of some sort. The water coming out of the sink smelled of mold, though that could have been the drain - not sure. The coffee maker cord was obviously shut very hard in a door or drawer, as the cable was crimped so badly that the electrical leads were exposed.
There were complimentary shampoo, body wash, and lotion bottles as well as supplies for the coffee.
I saw an ice bucket, but failed to find the ice machine on premise.
The mini fridge was also due for replacement. The gasket was damaged so much that it was struggling to keep temp, and the ice maker portion was thawing out as quickly as it could freeze. I stuck two ice packs and 6 bottles of water in the fridge, and neither were super cold by morning.
The beds are great if you’re renting a room for a fun night. Bounced as much as a trampoline. Linens were pretty clean, but the other bed had a spot that I could not identify.
Overall, as far as budget hotels goes, this one was on the cleaner end, but I’m not sure I would...
Read moreIt’s a really good price but there were quite a few issues we experienced. We checked in around midnight and had a very busy schedule planned so it was not worth bringing them up to the staff at the front desk in our opinion since we just wanted to sleep. The beds are doubles/fulls but were marketed as queens, this should be fixed on the listing since a group of 5 would be very displeased to discover this at midnight. The shower curtain rod was partially installed upside down so that the bump that’s supposed to keep the curtain closed on the side with the shower head was on the bottom not the top, which meant that we couldn’t actually close the curtain to shower. The drain plug of the shower was also not installed, just sitting at the bottom of the tub. The shower floor is very slick so a rubber mat was provided, but it looked moldy so we decided to not use it. We requested a late check out, were told we did not get it, but then when we checked out we were told we had til 12:30pm not 11:00am which really would’ve been good to know. The staff member who checked us out apologized profusely and offered to let us stay but we were already packed and awake so checked out to get on our way. We also found a sock and an old keycard in our room so we’re not too confident that it was cleaned before we occupied the room. Not something you can really control, but other guests were parking large vehicles so that they took up 3+ prime parking spots which is very inconsiderate since people already had to walk around the building to their rooms. Otherwise the staff was very kind both in the phone and in person, we thought the breakfast foods we had tasted good but it was too crammed to eat downstairs so we appreciated the paper plate to bring it back to our room, and the A/C worked great which was so necessary during our stay. We also liked the location as it was convenient to restaurants, transportation, and other stores. Knowing what we know now, we would still come back if in the area. The pool was under construction during our stay so I cannot...
