Would have preferred top floor room, but was told none available at check-in (wasn't really happy with that, and the lady at the desk took only a perfunctory glance at the availables when I asked her to look again -- I used to work in lodging and it's hard for me to believe they were all occupied on a Friday at 4:00 pm, but I didn't feel like whining or arguing about it). I've stayed here several times and the staff is always cheerful and polite, especially the ladies at the breakfast buffet. They're the best. Breakfast is excellent. Eggs are always cooked the way I like them, and the sausage is the best I've ever had at a free hotel breakfast, anywhere. Bacon was a little thin and without so much flavor this time, but I think that may just be an anomaly -- don't recall that from my stay there one year ago. BTW, coffee in the restaurant is much better than in the rooms. Room was fine. Nothing really special, but, considering the lakeside view, worth about what I paid for it with the pre-pay discount through wyndham.com. No noise from the room above or below, which is always a plus. King bed wasn't perfect, but it was fine for my two-night stay. Pillows are not very firm (personal thing with me). Coffee maker was just pitiful. Tiny little discs of mediocre coffee made a weak, lukewarm cup. Considering the flavor -- or lack thereof -- maybe that was a good thing. Really need to upgrade to something like a Keurig. And make half 'n' half available, please. The non-dairy powder is bad -- BAD -- and I hate trudging to the restaurant to beg a few cups of H'n'H off the nice ladies there. Biggest gripe, though, is the exterior of the building. It's time for a refresh. And the semi-private balcony could use larger partitions between the sections. And, for god's sake, clean the balcony. Concrete looks nasty, there's dirt in every corner, nook, and cranny, and there are spider webs everywhere. Also, if you're not going to allow guests to smoke in rooms (fine by me, I prefer to smoke outdoors, anyway), at least make some provision for the ashes and butts. There are no ashtrays anywhere to be found and the ground under the balcony is littered with butts. Barbecue grills seem to be a landing place for butts, too. Oh, and it rained while I was there and water was somehow seeping through the balcony above and onto me below. Maybe the concrete needs to be repaired/sealed...? Final note: The old HVAC units roar incessantly behind you when sitting on the balcony. About the time one turns off, another turns on. And they're LOUD. It's really aggravating when trying to carry on a conversation or make a phone call outside. Considering that a major draw of this property is the lake and balcony overlooking it, I'd think the management would pay a little more attention to it. That's about it. Not a 5-star property, but the staff and food sorta make up for it. Seems like I complained a lot here, but I still give the place an overall score of 3.5 out of 5 (rounded up to 4 here). Solid, respectable,...
Read moreMy stay was business related. I chose this hotel it had a very nice lake view and it had four stars on Google. I reviewed some photos and it all seemed to be OK for the area. I checked in and the lobby was very nice although it did have a certain smell to it. I went to my room and was completely disappointed. I was just flabbergasted at the way the room smelled. I was delayed for over 24 hours due to my flight and I had a lot of emails to take care of so I logged into my computer and worked for about two hours before I left to get something to eat. I then returned and went to the front desk and asked if I can switch my room.
The front desk personnel was extremely rude and asked why I waited so long to voice my concerns and complaints to the front desk and ask if I can switch my rooms? I as a consumer in a business traveler who has stayed at many hotels have never heard this?
I was very taken back and advised the hotel staff that I felt unsafe on the first floor as a woman with a broken door and I will post pictures. The front desk personnel proceeded to tell me that I should’ve let them know as soon as I got there so they can fix the door?? The door is broken if your hotel staff is cleaning it they should examine that and it should’ve been fixed prior to somebody being placed in that room?? She then gave me dryer sheets so I can place in my wall AC so the room wouldn’t smell as bad.
I waited for about seven or eight minutes she said she was fully booked and I said it’s fine I’m just gonna stay one night anyways. I had the reservation for three nights but I was not going to stay there more than one night. (please note I would’ve left that night had I not been in the middle of nowhere, there is not even street lights at night and the closest city is about an hour away)
The rooms were extremely outdated and disgusting! When I mean disgusting I mean filthy dirty. I will post pictures. The carpets had stains all over them. The toilet seem to have some sort of animal inside of it. The door seemed as though if they try to break in before nobody fixed it. The curtains were extremely disgustingly dirty like if they haven’t been washed in years. There was A previous guest clothing stickers on the mirror!
The only thing that I have nice to say about this place is the fact that it has a Lakeview.
Please do not be fooled by these five stars reviews! I would not stay in this place even if...
Read moreThe beds and pillows are comfortable. You wake up feeling really relaxed and well rested. The rooms are nice, new, and clean. They manage to feel modern, yet cozy. The in-room coffee is fantastic dark roast. Shower gets very hot and has high pressure. The breakfast! There is a restaurant at this hotel called Aqua, and staying at the hotel I received a voucher for each morning after a night's stay that got me breakfast for free. Absolutely phenomenal, I can't say enough. This morning there were Belgian waffles with fresh, ripe cantaloupe. There were biscuits, gravy, grits, real scrambled eggs, bacon AND sausage, and home fries. Juice & coffee, and top notch SERVICE! When I walked in to the breakfast area, a lady asked me would I like coffee? Juice? I said yes please, both. She smiled and turned to get them and was back in a Flash literally ice cold orange juice and piping hot medium roast coffee. They don't ask for tips, but she absolutely got one. I would've paid $12 easily for a breakfast of this quality, with this level of service, anywhere else. So to receive it for free? Oh yes, I'm leaving a tip absolutely. I'm a huge fan of breakfast and an even bigger fan of phenomenal breakfast, if the rest of my reviews haven't already let you know. There is a saltwater pool at this hotel, which overlooks the lake below it. The views from the back of the hotel are stunning and gorgeous. It's not abnormal to see people seated along the back balcony having a drink enjoying conversation and the awesome resort-like feel of the views. The staff here is wonderful. With these surroundings, I think I understand exactly why that is LOL. Seriously, their attitudes are great, even to the point of cutting up and telling jokes with you, while remaining 'ever the professionals'. To sum up, while I usually only write reviews for Ratings that I rate as 1, 3, or 5 stars, and this is definitely in the five-star category, I have to say it is one of a handful that I've rated 5 stars because that's the max... That is to say, if I could somehow hack the system to write them 6/5 Stars, I'd do it. I'll just have to do it here through the review system instead of the...
