DO NOT EVEN THINK OF STAYING HERE!
Throughout the day, they leave full hallways of guests' rooms' unlocked, doors ajar, for anyone to freely walk right into. This is absolutely ridiculous and I have never seen this at any other hotel my whole entire life. It is the most basic common sense to only unlock the room that you are currently cleaning/inspecting, but clearly, security is non existent here. Why even have locks on the doors at that point? Ever hear of a checklist to keep track of which rooms need to be cleaned? Truly exceptional incompetence by the hotel cleaning staff, as well as the management for allowing such stupidity to take place daily.
On our final night, we returned to our room to find the door unlocked & ajar. To our knowledge, nothing was stolen, however anyone walking down the hall could've easily popped in and looted our room. The staff did not enter our room to clean it, only to snoop around our belongings, because absolutely no cleaning was done, yet our door was left ajar all day.
Mildred the manager did not take the matter seriously whatsoever and was very unprofessional in handling the situation. She repeatedly defended her staff's actions and refused to take any accountability. They briefly reviewed the cameras, desperately looking for ways to blame us, saying we left and re-entered that morning, despite watching the footage of us clearly close the door behind us AND pull on the handle a few times to confirm that the door was 100% CLOSED & LOCKED. She dismissed us from the from the front desk while pretending that her cooworker was continuing to view the footage and lied to us saying she would get back to us later with more information, which she never did.
0 compensation offered by the hotel nor Best Western corporate, they could not care less. Absolutely disgusting handling of the situation. The lack of accountability is unfathomable. This is the kind of business that only cares about your money and once they have it, they could not care less about you or any issues you WILL experience.
Also, the elevator inspection expired over a month ago. You can see how little they care about guest safety.
Best Western has lost many customers for life due to this ridiculous negligence of basic customer safety, security and for their absolutely abysmal...
Read moreI mostly review hotels when I'm not impressed or when I'm especially happy. This place is a mixed bag.
Cons:
Place smells like industrial chemicals when you walk in the door and throughout. The aroma of restroom disinfectant transitions to a humid chlorine smell as you get closer to the indoor pool. It didn't immediately trigger a migraine so if you're not too sensitive you'll probably habituate to the smell.
The bed isn't very comfortable. On the firm side. Could be a plus for some people, especially stomach sleepers.
The small things like a dirty fork in the trash in our room, a safe for valuables that doesn't work, an ironing board with no iron, non-functioning drying line (for wet bathing suits) in shower, mystery brown streak in the toilet. The sign threatening to charge your credit card for noise violations was offputting.
Front desk wasn't helpful regarding room choice. Unless you directly book a specific room type, assume you will get the least convenient room they offer and they will blame the third party booking site and say there's nothing they can do about it. Similar to another review I read. I guess you can blame the booking site for this part of the review.
As of this writing I didn't see any ghosts; however, there is a funeral/crematory next door if you're sensitive to the possibility of visits from wandering spirits.
Pros:
The pictures of the breakfast look nice. Due to having to leave early in the morning we didn't get to experience it first hand.
There is an indoor pool and miniature golf across the street for the kids.
Overall the place seems fairly clean (minus the observations above).
Conclusion: We got a good price compared to what rooms in the area were going for the night we stayed. If I paid list price for the room I would be angry. I won't stay here again if I can help it. Maybe the cleaning staff pay more attention to the suites. I hope this objective review helps future guests make an...
Read moreOur stay at the Best Western was somewhat disappointing. We paid extra for a larger room and, to be fair, the room was a good size with a decent fridge, microwave, TV, etc. It was generally clean but dated and in need of refurbishment. The tiled entranceway to the room looked clean but was very sticky - our feet stuck to it as we entered. We cleaned it ourselves using wet tissues and this revealed the floor to be actually quite dirty. This suggests the cleaning substances being used are less than ideal.
The shower/bath was a very odd and dated design with strange slanting built in shelves. The bath had some repair evidence in the basin. The walls are paper thin and we heard every sound our neighbours made - at all hours.
The worst thing about the room was a horrible acrid smell which hit us upon entering. It was hard to pin down but somewhat like cat urine. We suspected the air con unit as the source and when we went out the next day we switched it off and left the windows open. Right enough, the room was less smelly on our return which seemed to back up the A/C unit as the source. Perhaps we were just unlucky in having a smelly unit in our room but I think the hotel should seriously investigate the smell issue as it's been mentioned in several previous reviews and perhaps a thorough clean of the air con units would resolve it.
Breakfast was poor with watered down fruit juice and baked goods that lacked in any taste.
Definitely not worth the money. This was more like a budget hotel experience for mid-range cost. The smell was dreadful and we should have raised it at the time but were too tired to be bothered...
