I came here from NJ to 'relax' and maybe do some hiking on the A.T. in nearby Hanover NH or Norwich VT. I was assigned a room on the 2nd floor in back - facing the post office. At about 04:00 on Monday and Thursday there was trash pickup. If you are familiar with dumpster trash pickup, you know how disturbing it can be. Then you have the USPS next door, with trucks rolling in and out all night it seems.
Noise was bad, but the plumbing in this place is the worst I have ever experienced in any hotel in the USA. I expect to get hot water and cold water out of the respective taps, but that is not so in this room. Of course I let the water run for minutes before any warm-ish water came from the hot tap, but at the same time, I am now getting warm water from the cold tap. Yesterday afternoon when I wanted to shower, I could only get scalding hot water from the tub/shower.
The front desk told me that their maintenance guy was working on replacing a bad check-valve in the hot water heater; that sounds right, but so far nothing has been replaced. Front desk offered to move me last night (and comp me one night) but I wasn't in a good mood, and was tired, so I declined. Now, I have only two nights remaining in my stay, so I won't bother talking to the Front Desk again.
The room has very old carpet, and the toilet seat is the flimsiest thing I've ever used; even the seat on the privy toilet at Velvet Rocks shelter on the A.T. in Hanover was of better quality.
I will say that the bed is comfortable enough that I could get a good night's sleep if there wasn't so much noise from outside and inside. People slamming doors early in the morning or late in the evening. I think it's the bathroom doors that are being slammed. So many people just let doors slam, being totally disrespectful of other guests.
I haven't tried the continental breakfast; most days I sleep too late to make it by 10:00. Next trip, I will not 'cheap out' on the hotel. This hotel got a 2.5 star rating on Priceline; next time I go for 3+ stars minimum, and read some of the reviews...
Read moreI wasn't expecting 5 star. It was a last minute decision and was between a few other hotels. But yours was 10 cheaper and your room had a bath tub and the others didn't because they were all booked up. But you had everything thing else we wanted. Which included a pool and a hot breakfast. However when we got there we found out there was no pool anymore. My daughter was disappointed. And I feel like it was false advertisement on your web site. I would have chosen one of the others, but it was just a one night stay. Becauae my daughter had two games on sunday and we decided to o up early to have a girls nite. And meet the rest of the team the next day. Why I would never stay here again was because the room was not clean. There was brown stuff all caked onto the remote. The guides had stuff stuck to them. But most importantly when we moved garbage can over, there was a huge pill on floor. Which if my child was younger and found it I would have been angry!! Not to mention how dangerous! There were chip crumbs on side of bed. So for me it was the cleanness of it! I could even look past the fact one light bulb was out and the bathroom light flickering and bath tub to shower knob wasn't working properly. But honestly I wish I would have spent the few extra dollars somewhere else. The only thing that saved the hotel was the staff and how nice they were at the front desk and the lady working breakfast. We stay in alot of hotels due to us having three kids who play hockey and do look to save when we can but I wouldn't choose to stay here again. And makes me question other locations...
Read moreI stayed here on a weekend ski trip. I lucked out and got one of the studio suites. The suite would be ideal for a family of 4. It had a mostly separate bedroom and living area with TVs in each location. It had a large bathroom, near full size refrigerator and microwave. The living room had a sofa bed. Everything was very clean and except for one table looked new.
The hotel lobby is small. The breakfast area needs more capacity. It did not have enough space for everyone, even when using the lobby too. The breakfast was good and included eggs, sausage/bacon, and make-your-own waffles. Breakfast food was very similar to other Comfort or Quality Inns.
The front desk attendant at check-in was very helpful. He had a good knowledge of the area and helped me with finding a place to eat when I arrived.
The pool looked clean and nice but was very small. The area it was in dwarfed the pool, so perhaps a larger one will be installed later.
This hotel is unlike other Choice Hotels in the area and enclosed in a single 4 story building. The environment is suburban in White River Junction. Numerous restaurants are nearby either in White River Junction or across the river in Lebanon.
The internet signal was not very strong, but I was as far as I could get from the router. I was on the 4th floor in the far north corner of the hotel. If internet is essential (it wasn't for me for this trip) I'd recommend staying on a lower floor closer to the center of the building. The hotel could also add...
