Holualoa Gardens — Hotel in Hawaii

Do not stay here!! I stayed in unit 101 and was hoping for an amazing trip to Hawaii. I was happy with the property initially. The host or owner was very responsive at first. The unit has lots of nice amenities. But this all changed when I found urine on the mattress. The smell was lingering and I had to pull up the sheets. The mattress cover was stained and clearly smelling of urine. When I called the property they came promptly and changed the mattress and sheets. I politely asked for a refund for the first night because of the unsanitary conditions. The owner or host became very rude and argued with me. She said and I quote “ Society always wants to be compensated when things aren’t perfect.” I said the stains are clearly visible (photos provided) she claims there are lots of stains that aren’t urine. I don’t want to stay anywhere where there are stains on my bedding. After arguing with me, she said she would get back to me on a refund and never did so I called booking.com and trying to settle with them. (Currently still ongoing) I shortened my stay and got out of there as soon as possible. I should not have to pay to stay on a urine bed. No one should!! This place is a health concern and the unsanitary conditions is alarming. Not to mention their lack of sympathy.

Other issues to note- the neighbors across the doorway leave piles of shoes and trash by their door that you’ll have to smell and see.

Booked via Booking.com and had a great communication with the owner. No problem at check-in, amenities are accurately described and the WiFi is very fast (5G). No parking issue (we use reserved parking for Unit 101). We are here for the entire Thanksgiving week and thinking will book at this unit again when we are back...
