Da Poke Shack — Restaurant in Hawaii

05/01/2025 (Thu) We’ve tried poke from many places across the Big Island because we absolutely love it, but Da Poke Shack stands out as the best we’ve had so far! 🌺🐟

We went a little after 10 a.m., and it wasn’t too crowded. We were able to grab a seat at one of the outdoor picnic tables, which was perfect for enjoying our meal right away. We had a poke plate and tried several flavors — sesame, spicy garlic, shoyu, and creamy scallop — and they were all incredibly delicious.🤤

Although their posted business hours are until 4:00 PM, they operate on a "sold-out, close-up" system. That means once they sell out of poke, they close for the day — even if it’s still within business hours. So it’s best to get there early to avoid disappointment!🏃=3

The shop itself is quite small, and there’s no indoor seating. However, there are two long picnic tables outside the entrance where you can enjoy your meal. The location is tucked underneath a residential building, and while there is some parking available, it’s unclear whether it's reserved for residents or open to customers — so just be mindful.🚙

Really fresh Poké, probably my favorite that I’ve had so far! Loved all the different kinds we got (shack special, wet Hawaiian, dynamite) & the sides were delicious too. Poke bowls are $16 & plate is $32 so not cheap but their extremely Fresh fish makes it reasonable. They allow 4 people/ order groups at a time inside and the rest of the line waits outside. We had to wait in a line for 50 minutes for it which felt way too long. The line was decent but not extremely long. A suggestion for increased efficiency would be to have someone working the register & a different person creating the bowls. It was only one woman doing both creating the bowls & cashing people out and splitting the task up would likely get people through the line quicker. Also for those ordering if they could look on their website prior to getting to the front of the line and knowing what they want would also help shorten everyone’s waiting. We were sitting on a park bench near the water talking about where to go for poke and a local recommended this place. When we got there the line was our the door and now we know why!

The kitchen is open and you can watch the employees making fresh poke. They have great options and it all depends on what they caught recently. It’s all fresh local ingredients. We both ordered a bowl to go and it was the perfect amount of food. We both loved the Shack Special.

There are a few umbrella picnic tables outside and no inside seating. There are a few parking spots but it filled up fast. They have some merch to purchase including hats, T-shirt’s and tank tops. This is the kind of place that when they’re out of something it’s out for the day. We tried going a different day about 40min before closing and only a few items were left.
