I was interested to try Jam Pot because they advertise vegan options. My visit yesterday around 2 pm presented a few challenges. While I appreciate their effort to cater to vegan customers, the availability of options was limited. I had hoped for a vegan sandwich or patty, but unfortunately, most items, including the vegan ice cream, were out of stock. The service began a little slowly. The person at the counter was friendly, but there was a noticeable delay before I was acknowledged, as he was engaged in an extended conversation with the customer ahead of me. For a primarily take-out spot, perhaps a brief acknowledgement of other waiting customers could enhance the overall experience. I opted for the only available vegan choice, the jerk jackfruit wrap. While I commend them for offering this, the wrap itself was somewhat disappointing. The filling consisted of a very small amount of jackfruit and seemed to lack fresh vegetables. The dominant flavor was an intensely spicy sauce that unfortunately overpowered the other elements and wasn't very enjoyable, even for someone who typically appreciates spice. The wrap itself seemed to be a standard, pre-made variety. The price of the wrap also felt a bit high, even considering the general price level on the Big Island, which added to my overall feeling of disappointment. I do hope this feedback is taken constructively, as I appreciate businesses that strive to offer vegan choices. For those specifically seeking a wider variety of vegan options in the area, the lunch counter across the street at the health food grocery might be worth...
Read moreI’ve been meaning to write this review for Jam Pot for months because the experience was truly unforgettable! This charming little shop in the heart of Waimea is a hidden gem, filled with everything you could want for a delicious, wholesome meal or snack. The variety is incredible as there’s something for every dietary preference. As a vegan, I was blown away by how many options were available!
During our visit to the island, we stopped here for lunch and enjoyed such a beautiful spread: the energy balls (both carrot and cookie dough flavors were amazing), a fresh-pressed juice, a vibrant salad, and a hearty wrap. Every bite was bursting with freshness and flavor; you can really taste the love and care in the food.
What makes Jam Pot even more special is its owner, SanJay. He’s genuinely kind, and it’s clear he pours his heart and soul into everything he creates. His passion shines through not just in the food, but in the warm, welcoming energy of the shop itself. My only regret is that we didn’t discover Jam Pot sooner as I would have made it a daily stop!
Thank you, SanJay, for sharing your vision and your culinary gifts with the world. I can’t wait for the chance to come...
