Our experience as guests at Marriott’s SurfWatch was truly exceptional—there wasn't a single aspect of our vacation that could have been better.||||SurfWatch operates like a finely tuned Swiss watch. If, like me, you’re attentive to details, you’ll quickly notice that the resort is impeccably managed and maintained.||||I still remember when SurfWatch was first imagined and designed by Marriott Vacation Club architects. The parcel of land it sits on was the last viable stretch of oceanfront property available for a Marriott Vacation Club resort. Developing SurfWatch wasn’t easy—its layout is unique, with a challenging footprint. Yet, Marriott Vacation Club's imagineers and architects pulled it off brilliantly, creating a design that blends with the natural topography of the site. The result is nothing short of spectacular.||||Not only is SurfWatch beautifully designed and built, it is also impeccably maintained. There’s an entire team of engineering and housekeeping staff working around the clock to ensure the resort is spotless at all times. The pools are pristine, and outsourced painters and landscapers are constantly on-site, keeping everything in top shape. The beach is just a short walk from the two- and three-bedroom villas, and for those who prefer not to walk, there’s a convenient golf cart shuttle running between the villas and the beach all day long.||||Our villa was the epitome of thoughtful design and functionality. Every detail was well-considered, making it not only comfortable but also highly user-friendly and ergonomic. The villa was immaculately clean and well-maintained—kudos to the resort operations, housekeeping, and engineering teams.||||The amenities at SurfWatch are impressive as well. With multiple pools, a beautiful indoor pool, a well-equipped fitness center, and activities like volleyball and shuffleboard, there’s no shortage of things to do, and there are numerous barbecues. All of this is set against the backdrop of Hilton Head Island’s stunning beaches and crystal-clear ocean.||||The staff at SurfWatch are friendly, professional, and efficient, always putting guests first. While I don’t know the name of the General Manager (I’ll be sure to find out and send a thank-you note), it’s clear that he or she is doing an outstanding job leading the resort and their team.||||The resort offers a wide variety of planned activities every day, catering to every age group and interest. The Activities Staff deserve a special mention for making our stay so enjoyable, and the Front Desk team was equally fantastic.||||In short, we can’t say enough great things about Marriott’s SurfWatch. It truly is a gem...
Read moreWe recently made a 5 night stay at the Marriott Surf Watch on Hilton Head Island. Before we got there the time share pitch began and the sales people were quite eager to "book a time before all of the spots fill up". For the price we paid comparable to other high end beachfront properties on the island, we were assigned to a villa that was actually on the other side of a road, Castnet Drive, (only one building is actually on the beach side of the road) and 1/2 mile walk from the beach, yet definitely part of the main property grounds. We were so far that I could not really even tell which direction to walk to sink my feet into the sand. Finally though, we did make it to the water via a golf cart. As was explained at check in, you call and they will send a cart to pick you up and they drop you at the beach or wherever else on the property you would like to go. This is a nice service for a person that is not able to walk any real distance or for a family that does not want to carry bulky boogie boards, beach chairs, etc. all the way to the beach. However, running back to your room for something is a hassle because if there is no cart there just waiting, you have to call and then wait. Unless you are looking forward to staying in a unit that might as well be in the middle of an apartment complex with no view of the ocean or ocean sounds, you will find this property extremely over priced for the distance to the beach. Our villa, the property, and the facilities in general were very nice and the General Manager of the property, Case, was attentive to our disappointment. Still, it should be said that if being on, near, or within view of the beach is important to you on a family beach trip, stay elsewhere. There are much better values on Hilton Head or neighboring islands. I think it is important to know that we were told that many of the people on vacation were part of the Marriott Vacation Club and I believe that many of the positive reviews were posted by those time share owners (some even mention it in their review) eager to support a club to which they belong. You could stay somewhere other than the Surfwatch and be much closer...
Read moreI really do not know where to start. I think that this location needs help with customer service. It wasn't bad but, it's wasn't good either. I was giving the feeling as if,I should not have been at this marriott location. I wasn't made to feel welcomed. If, someone give you something in your hand than you should give it back to them in their hands. I was giving a map and basically told to follow the map. I was not shown on the map that, we are here at point A and here is where you and your family will be staying. When I asked the young lady to tell me on how to get to my room. She gave me a look like I was annoying her and she was quick to tell me to go there and turn here. Never did she take the initiative to come from the behind the counter to help me for a split second and no, it was not crowded. Yes, the condo was nice and a nice view of the garden. Some (not all) of the stuff would just look at me and my family and would not speak. We are saying good morning with a smile and they would just look at us like we were invading their space. Another example, we was trying to figure out how to get to the indoor pool, we asked a young lady and she told us but, not one time did she ask us did we want to try the lemonard or tea. I guess it was meant for only selected groups/people. Now, I would like to say that the grounds are very well kept up, the swimming pools are very beautiful, and the two guys that works in the food area was super nice and made us feel like we was welcomed. Now, do not get me wrong, I do not need for people to go above trying to make me and my family feel welcomed but, I did expect something nicer. I have been to many Marriott properties and this is the first time where, I felt like we was not wanted. I work in a hospital dealing with surgery patients everyday all day and I know what customer service should be like for everyone and not just selected people. The beach was very beautiful but, the walk was not favorable on my knee. Will I ever come back to this Marriott property? Probably not. As, the saying goes... first, impressions...
