We spent 5 days and 4 nights in this hotel, so I feel like I can give a pretty extensive review, and 3 stars does not entirely reflect the value of this hotel, just my experience.
Let's start with the positives - STAFF IS EXCELLENT! They were helpful in every way I could imagine. They were super nice and courteous, and went above and beyond to help you. This isn't just 1 person, this was every single person we come in contact with that worked there.
Rooms are very comfortable. Tons of water pressure in the shower. Air conditioner kept us feeling nice and cozy (we love for it to be cold in the room).
Lobby was nice and quiet. We were able to spend the evenings in the lobby visiting and they were very patient with our kids, as we had a baseball team here for a championship tournament in Splendora.
Here's the downside - The refrigerator situation was ridiculous. Upon getting to our room, we learn that our fridge isn't cooling. Call down to the desk, and a man comes, pulls it out, unplugs it and plugs it back in - and bam... it's working again. He says that it trips sometimes, and you just have to unplug it and plug it back in. The problem is, we don't stay in the room the entire time we're there, so if it stops working... we may not find out until hours later... or if it stops working when your asleep - same scenario. We come back to the room numerous times to the fridge not cooling. Sometimes it would cool for several hours, sometimes for a few minutes. We were 1 of several in our group that experienced the same problem. Normally it wouldn't be an issue for us, but beings we had an extended stay, we brough perishables that needed to stay cold. This was just a rough situation for us all together.
The pool was only open the first 24 hours we stayed. This was a huge gut shot to our group, as we had 10 baseball boys that wanted to swim so badly. That was one of the entire reasons we chose this hotel, was because of the pool. Not sure what went wrong, but it went down on Friday night, and the boys never got to swim again.
The whole breakfast/coffee situation leaves so much to be desired. We knew there was no breakfast offered as part of the stay before we booked. That was fine. We were told breakfast is sold there however, but it's just too expensive to buy.
Overall - I would stay here again, but maybe not for an extended stay. The fridge/pool situation really put a damper on our weekend. Constantly having to remember to check the fridge to make sure it was cooling was just over the top, and it wasn't just us. Several people in our group were having the same issue.
Can't say enough about the staff though. They were awesome. Made sure we had all the towels we needed, and...
Read moreI, my family, and friends stayed at the Courtyard Marriott for the week of a friend's wedding and the service was spectacular. We were in awe of the excellent care that we were given from all the staff, from housekeeping to the Bistro staff, to the general manager. A member of our party needs to sleep in a reclined position and the staff was caring and helpful to accommodate these needs. The rooms were always immaculate and extremely comfortable. The housekeeping staff took great care of us. Anytime we needed anything they were right there with it. My room was the staging area for anything wedding and the housekeeping staff were very careful not to disturb the paraphernalia. And let me tell you, that was a challenge. Thank you for taking such good care of us! My friend's wedding reception was held in the conference room of the hotel. This was a rather DIY wedding and the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating, allowing us to decorate the day before the reception, setting up the tables to our specifications, and helping with many other odds and ends. What I appreciated the most was how AWESOME the waitstaff was during the reception!! As a first time maid of honor, with a lot on her plate, I was less than sure of myself, and if not for one member of staff in particular there may have been a melt down. This staff member helped me make my friend's wedding reception a success and kept me sane. THANK YOU!!! The food for the reception, provided by the hotel's Bistro, was spectacular and the presentation was beautiful. The service was excellent and the waitstaff was very attentive to our guests, not just the wedding party. The Bistro was always delicious, no matter what time of day. When walking down the hall, with wedding stress written on our faces, the staff would always ask if anything was needed or if there was anything they could do. My mother especially appreciated this. Thank you for making my Mama feel care for and comfortable. The patio was wonderful, even peaceful. The perfect place to unwind. Some members of our party never left it! I cannot not express the gratitude I, my family, and friends have for the the care we were given by every member of staff. If 10 is the highest on the scale then this hotel and the...
Read moreEverything was sufficient and the room/bed was comfortable in true to Courtyard form; however, the reason I would be the most likely to refer someone to this location is primarily because of Everett, the night attendant. He was not only friendly and professional, but he truly went above and beyond to accommodate us. The hotel was 100% booked and we were coming in at 5:00 in the morning after being in the hospital with my dad overnight. Initially, when he told us he was booked, he offered (and did) call local hotels nearby to try and find us a room rather than us driving around aimlessly in an area we were not familiar with. When everything else was booked, he found a room in the hotel where a guest had checked out early. He personally went and cleaned the room and remade it so that we would have a place for the morning to get a few hours of sleep. He deeply discounted the room so that we would not have to pay a full night/day for just a few hours. As well, for the good of the hotel, he 'made a sale' at 5:00 am that would not otherwise have been made. He could easily (and truthfully) told us that the hotel was booked and sent us on our way. His hospitality and care for Courtyard guests was immeasurable. While tending to us, two other guests approached needing things for their room, he seamlessly attended to them in the few seconds it took and never ceased to deal with our needs. These things are wonderful in their own right and speak volumes of his character and work ethic but we asked his age because we were so delighted that a younger person was so willing to work. He is 26 years old and far exceeds the expectations of someone typically his age (during this day and time). He was not lazy, nor did he take the easy way out (and could have rightfully done so). He truly cared about the guests, was conscientious about his hotel and though we already favor Courtyard, he sealed that deal with a lovely smile on his face and sincerity in his behavior. Great job, Everett!! Courtyard Houston Kingwood - you have a jewel in him, we hope you care for him like he cares for...
