We were in the Houston area and started back home when we found this Los Cucos Mexican Restaurant. We stopped for a late night supper and was blown away by the beauty of the building and grounds. Knowing it is a new establishment in the Kingwood area, made us make several comparisons with the beginnings (to us) of the company. Hubby and I were raised in Fort Bend County and knew of the Los Cucos restaurant in Wharton County located on the east bank of the Colorado river. You had to walk up stairs going into the restaurant located on the second floor. There was seating along the riverside with windows where you could watch the water flow down stream and enjoy your food while listening to the Spanish music. It was always a treat for me to watch the waiter prepare the fresh guacamole right at the table for your enjoyment! After hurricane Harvey caused such devestation to the Wharton area, I often wondered about the restaurant by the river. Finding this restaurant was a wonderful experience. When we parked our truck, we could hear music and saw the speakers outside in the grassy area. A couple leaving the restaurant stopped at a beautiful bench to take pictures of each other sharing their experience there. Walking in was a pleasant experience for the senses seeing the decor, the same crisp white shirts and black slacks the wait staff wore at the Wharton restaurant and hearing Spanish music playing softly as patrons sat eating their meals enjoying the relaxed atmosphere there. We were immediately seating at a table with menus and had chips with red salsa and tomatillo sauce. Once we tasted the sauces, we knew we had found an old time favorite! We took a little time to check out the menu deciding on Hubby building his own enchilada dinner and I tried Combo #1 (it had a little of everything I liked). Our waitress listened as we ordered assisting Hubby in what sauce he wanted and even brought out a small serving for him to try before the food arrived. It was a habanero sauce that he remembered from the times we went to the Wharton establishment back in the day. Our food arrived piping hot served by a nice young man and we even had to wait a few minutes allowing the items to cool so we could eat. My plate consisted of a chicken quesadilla with sour cream and guacamole, a cheese enchilada, and a small serving of the cheese and meat nachos with pico de Gallo. Hubby's plate was exactly what he wanted. We then preceded to eat our meal enjoying every bite! As we were eating we heard a song that sounded familiar when Hubby realized it was not the stereo but an actual person singing. After talking with our waitress asking about the man singing, she informed us he was a magician who entertained the patrons at the restaurant. As we were preparing to leave, the gentleman came over to our table presenting me with a red balloon heart with two white love birds sitting on it. He thanked us for enjoying our meal time and hoped we will return. Definitely something we...
Read moreWe hadn't eaten here in a couple of years, but decided to go for a late lunch today. We waited well over 20 minutes for our food (the restaurant was not crowded). When the food arrived, my husbands' was steaming hot, mine was cold. I had ordered a taco salad with beef fajitas. The taco shell had no warmth to it, neither did the meat. The Queso cheese to pour over the salad was cold, also. A film had already formed across the top, because it had set that long. I could not eat it. Attempting to pour congealed cheese across cold meat and salad is not appetizing. The waitress offered to prepare another one, but since it had taken so long for the first items I opted not to wait. I took the meal home and warmed the meat and the cheese, but the meat was partially burned, so I couldn't finish it. They had offered a free dessert as compensation, but I declined. I found they had included one anyway. I did taste it later on and it was gummy inside as though undercooked. On another note. I went to the ladies restroom before leaving and was appalled. The waste baskets were ALL overflowing, with paper towels spilling all over the floor. The sinks were messy and the waste containers in the bathroom stalls were all overflowing, with one of the toilet paper dispensers completely torn off the wall and lying on the floor. It looked like the restroom had not been checked at all that day, or longer. We will NOT...
Read moreTerrible portions and all plates went up in price, the portions got smaller by half. So terrible.
So my parents went here for lunch it was a terrible experience, this is very sad because we had been coming here since 2012,
A terrible waiter
My mom had a terrible time due to the following:
All she wanted was a sprite no ice in a to go cup, and fajita flautas and this is what she got,
First attempt on the drink the waiter brings a sprite in a regular cup, then my mom kindly asks him to bring what she ordered which was a sprite no ice on a to go cup,
Second attempt he brings a sprite with ice in a to go cup, my mom got tired of it so she just drank the sprite.
First attempt on entrée:
Then she orders her flautas of fajita and the waiter brings her back Tacos, my mother let's him know that, that is not her food.
Second attempt the waiter brings back flautas that are from desebrada.
By the third attempt everyone my father's plate was cold from waiting for her food that they just canceled my mother's plate paid for the 2 drinks and 1 plate and left,
In summary neither of my parents got to eat, the waiter had a terrible attitude, and all the plates went up in price and the portions got smaller, I don't mind paying for a higher price on the plate if it reflects in the portions.
So save your money and time this place is terrible now and over priced. Will never...
