I experienced nothing but the best here at the DoubleTree Hilton (Irvine Spectrum). Below are a list of items that went right.
Hotel Staffs: I've dealt with the front desk staffs both during the daytime and late night. The staffs here are very thoughtful and accommodating. I requested a quiet room when I booked. The staff noticed it and proactively went ahead and changed my room to a corner room at check-in. Even that one lady working in the restaurant/area was awesome!
Room & Cleanliness: I attached photos of my room just moments after I got in and laid down my bags and luggage. Not sure how much more clean it can get. Loved the layout of the room. It included 1 kingsize bed, 1 sofa, small coffee table, desk, dresser, closet with hangers, iron board, two night stands on each side of the bed. Lots of storage space. Also has a huge big screen TV. Don't watch TV so did not use it but I'm sure it works fine. Has a decent size mini refrigerator, safe vault box to store your valuable items. It literally had everything I could ask for during a hotel stay. This is just one of their regular 1-bed rooms. I did not opt-in for a suite or any sort of upgrade.
I liked how they have the power source outlets built into the desk/nightstand lamps. I hate it when I have to reach back down against the wall to plug my iPhone charger.
Bathroom: Loved the bathroom and the shower. It's a sliding glass door shower (Not one of those curtain bathtubs). Loved the water pressure! Nice and high just the way I like it.
Internet: This hotel has pretty fast wi-fi connection. Also want to emphasize that I used their free wi-fi offering. Had no issues downloading email attachments for work and streaming YouTube & Netflix.
Fitness: I used their fitness room only once, which is a shame. Should've taken more advantage of it. It has 3 treadmills, 1 cycling machine, a balance ball and free weights. All the machines worked and functioned the way it was suppose to. Fitness room was kept clean and tidy as well.
Digital Key: I loved this feature of my stay here. You can download the Hilton Honors Member app. Your digital key for your room will automatically generate after you check-in. So convenient not to carry a keycard all the time.
Restaurant/Bar: Food is awesome here. Wish I could've remembered to take photos.
Honestly, I can't think of anything bad to say about my stay here. If I had to look for something to criticize, it would have to be their pool. The pool looked a little out-out-place compared to how nice the hotel, in general, is. But please remember that this is a 3 star hotel. I have to say that for a 3 star, this place really outperforms and overachieves.
I would definitely come back here again and highly recommend it to my friends and family.
After my experience here, I'm a huge fan of DoubleTree by Hilton. I'm planning to just book at DoubleTree from now on. I hope my experience here is consistent with other DoubleTree across the county (and...
Read moreHilton had always been my go to brand for quality stay until my visit at this hotel. Staff and room were both below expectation.
Upon checking in, no one informed us that room cleaning was by request only so we ended up with an uncleaned room after a long day. The next morning when I went down to ask about house keeping, there was only one lady at the front desk who was on the phone and no other staff came out to help me so I had to wait for some time - I suppose this is understandable but they could have done better. When the lady was done with her call, she just stared at me without either smiling, nodding or greeting as if I was only there to trouble her. Though didn’t feel welcomed, I walked up to her to give my room number and asked for room cleaning.
At night, we came back to our room only to find the room was again unattended. We were out of towels, soap, cups, trash bin was filled but only got a messy bed. I had to go down to the front desk again. Since it was getting close to midnight, I told them the situation and asked if they can move us to a cleaned room. Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience, the front desk staff started questioning me when and whom I asked for room cleaning as there was not such request on their record. Before this I didn’t realize I needed to keep a log of my conversations with Hilton staff by name and time :). They eventually moved us to another room but the new room was right next to an air ventilator on the outside of the building so we could hear constant, loud noise even after turning off our AC. I normally would request again for a reasonably quiet room but at this point it was past midnight and my family was too exhausted to move room again so I had to get through a noisy night.
Although a 3-star hotel is not expect to be the pinnacle of hospitality, the staff at this DoubleTree, with their lack of commitment, dedication and professionalism, would rank this hotel experience well...
Read moreThis was my second business stay, first stay was ok, but my TV didn't work until I rebooted it as I got no other help. This time, I learned that I can choose my own room ahead of time and get the touch room key on my phone. It turns out you still have to check in at the front desk to provide the ID. When I opened the door (4th floor) a foul smell of moldy damp room hit me and there was no way I could stay there breathing it 2 nights. I asked for another room. 2nd floor. Smell was till there as well and the bathtub had toilet paper stuffed in instead of a bathtub stopper. I wanted to call downstairs but the phone was offline (yes it was plugged in). I asked for another room. Third room (also on 2nd floor for some reason) was still damp and smelled like vinegar the whole time of my stay. I was originally on 4th floor, I got downgraded to 2nd to stare at a concrete roof, I suppose I was punished for the switch. Usually the hotel would be embarrassed and upgrade you, but not here, and I just wanted a non-smelly room. At my 3rd room TV didn't work neither and I had to reboot. 1 coffee pack only. There is no exhaust in this hotel's bathrooms so the moisture never leaves. My colleague had a room with a door on the bathtub (I had motel-style curtain) and he said that water leaked through the glass door when he showered and had to clean up the floor but it was too late when he got out as it leaks out and under the carpet. Hmm, I wonder if that's where the mold comes from, just happily growing unseen under. We bring so much business to this hotel, yet even a motel is maintained better. Restaurant is understaffed in the evenings but at least there is one. The kiosk is great...
