Review 3 years ago: Very nice hotel. Great location and close to the spectrum shopping. We were able to walk there for dinner and movie.
Updated review after our stay 5/8/21: Let me start by saying we have rated this hotel high in the past but this experience was the exception. It was the day before Mother's Day. We check in early to enjoy use of the pool. Our day and night were ruined by one group of "guests." One group rented 5 rooms with a max of 5 people per room or 25 guests total. Instead, they threw a pool party for themselves/family/friends that at times exceeded 40 plus people. They monopolized 3 of 4 cabanas, utilized 75% of all other available tables/chairs/lounges, took over the pool/mini golf and the rest of the outdoor common area. They were sneaking guests in from side gates. Their music was blaring and grown men were playing heads up with footballs in the pool keeping all other guests' kids away in an attempt to avoid being hit. Management was complained to but to no avail. They stated they were allowed to have 25 people but all you had to do was count and there were clearly more . Management said the music would be kept down and the side gates locked but neither of those things happened. An employee did finally catch them smoking/vaping and asked then to do it outside of the pool area so instead they did it right outside of the gate our chairs were next to. As soon as employees went away, the music turned up again. Due to Covid, pool capacity was 40 people. There was well over that many at any given moment throughout the day. It was not relaxing. Instead of a nice day by the pool, we were subjected to a Vegas style pool party with our young children. We couldn't go into the pool bathrooms because they were smoking marijuana in there and it reeked. try explaining that smell to a 10 year old. The pool hours were till 9 PM but they were out there till after 10 PM; now disturbing our evening even in our room. We were told by management that our room would be comped and we would receive 20K extra Bonvoy points. Instead they deleted our visit so we didn't get elite night credits for the stay, our Platinum welcome points and the 20k points still aren't in my account. I used a free night I was given for being a Marriott credit card holder to book the room which was not credited back to my account. My priority and gripe isn't really about the points, etc. It is because management clearly lost complete control of their own hotel. They let these "guests" ruin the enjoyment of all of the people actually paying to be there. At one point a manager asked if we were enjoying our stay as we sat by the fire pit. I said, "to be honest, today sucked" and she turned around and said, "well it sucked for me too." Unbelievable. She is being paid to be there so too bad it was a rough day. It was their own fault in my opinion but for her not to acknowledge what I said and seek answers is just embarrassing. I would never treat one of my customers that way. On the good side, we had a wonderful breakfast in the hotel Bistro restaurant the next morning and the staff in there was amazing. I will review again if I ever hear from Marriott over my complaints or get the rewards and credits I was promised. Until they get these types of clients under control, we will stop coming to this hotel for...
Read moreI had an opportunity to stay at this hotel for the first time on 7/29/21. I was attending the L.A. Rams training camp at UC Irvine and thought this would be a fun addition to that outing. I stayed with my husband and our 6 year old nephew. We visited the Spectrum for lunch and then headed to the hotel. The facility was immaculate from the lobby, pool, fitness area and guest room and all of the staff we came in contact with were very friendly and helpful. We intended to go back to the Spectrum for dinner, but were so relaxed from our time at the pool that we decided to have dinner at the hotel's restaurant, The Bistro. The food was phenomenal! The lemonade, tomato soup and grilled cheese were among the best I've tasted. My nephew ordered a burger and ate every bite! We enjoyed the night in our room and ordered "take-out" breakfast from The Bistro the next morning. Everything was perfect! We eventually checked out and went about our day. My husband and I were 100% satisfied with our stay. When my nephew returned home, my sister said he could not stop talking about how much fun he had at the hotel. He stayed with us two weeks later and it was his last sleepover of the summer before school started. We told him we could do anything he wanted and suggested some nearby attractions. Without being prompted, he said all he wanted to do was go back to "the hotel". We checked availability and booked a room for that night (8/20/21). When we arrived, I asked if there was a room on the 7th floor because we were also celebrating my nephew's upcoming 7th birthday. I also asked if there was a room with a view of the ferris wheel at the Spectrum because he also loves ferris wheels. The employee that assisted me took a second to think about it and showed me what was available. She suggested one room on the 8th floor. I appreciated the thought she put into granting my request and my nephew was so happy! For this trip, we once again visited the pool and we actually made it back to the Spectrum for dinner and had a night ride on the ferris wheel. Overall, we were so pleased with both stays and look forward to returning...
Read moreWe have stayed at many hotels over the years we have been traveling and many Marriott's, but this particular stay was the best! When we first entered the lobby, we were struck by the openness of the floor plan-the absence of walls dividing the dining area from the lobby and the unique fireplace. The elegant simplicity was refreshing and welcoming. The first night we ate in the hotel bistro and sat in one of the private booths. We were able to enjoy a margarita and watch our basketball game with our own remote on the little wall of our booth. We had privacy and great food and service. There were 3 such booths in the bistro and we thought a great idea. We had a beautiful view of the city in our room- floor to ceiling windows, and our big flat screen TV was on a rotating arm which made for easy viewing. The extremely comfortable bedding was surprisingly like ours at home, including the pillows and there were plenty of them! We stayed for 6 nights so we went grocery shopping the second day. The room comes with a fridge, which helped, but we needed a microwave to heat up our food-we asked them for one and they immediately accommodated us. That made it perfect! My favorite part of the room was the bathroom! We took pictures of the unique shower so we can have our builder try and duplicate it at home. I loved the cut-out little window for towels half in and half out of the shower. The lighting was bright, the showerhead more than ample and it was spacious- just a delight! Usually, hotel rooms have very few electrical outlets, but not this one. Even the bedside tables were equipped (on top!) with 3 outlets and a place to plug in an iPhone! So very convenient! We were there for a convention and were impressed with how comfortable the meeting rooms were-the temperature was perfect, the layout and availability of the bathrooms and the lighting made the perfect setting to learn. All in all, Marriott just MADE our trip and we thank you for designing the...
