You can put lipstick on a pig....
You get what you pay for and that is clear in everything about this hotel from the staff, the hired labour and what I received as a room.
The front desk was quick and efficient but in a curt sort of way, no time for chatting they clearly have bigger fish to fry than taking care of the customers, not sure what that may be but I was left feeling as though I had inconvenienced them simply by checking in and checking out.
The building is clearly undergoing some renovations and as such some leeway is in order for the state of things however this was not mentioned during check in so I was a little confused when looking for our rooms we were confronted with the very potent smell of fresh paint and construction waste in the halls. Where the halls didn't smell of paint they instead smelled of raw sewage emanating from the laundry rooms in the center of the building. Looking at other reviews this construction has been going on for quite a while, hopefully it is completed soon so some of the issues described here.
The primary elevator was out of order with no indication of it being fixed within the near future resulting in a bit of a hike from one end of the building's only operating lift to the opposite side for my travel weary companions.
Once inside the rooms we found that they had been pleasantly updated but were still somehow in a state of disarray. The layout feels awkward and some of the closet doors and the door to the bedroom were unable to close/hard to open due to the thick slathering of paint. The bathrooms were of particular concern with unclean toilets, soap scummed showers and ludicrous amounts of caulk that had been haphazardly extruded over mold and gaps wider than the grand canyon. The AC works great but makes disturbing noises each time it turns on and makes you think someone has broken into your room and is rummaging around. Additionally, don't plan on resting with anything plugged in, all the outlets and lighting fixtures illicit an unsettling hum/whine that threatens to burn down the building at a moments notice. Please double check your electrician and the components they use as something is going on there and I'd hate to see it result in a fire.
There are some upsides however, if you do manage to sleep over the sounds of the nearby highway the beds and bedding are in great shape and the free breakfast (6:30a - 9:00a) has all the standard offerings and fills the building with the scent of fresh waffles until the paint fumes kick back in.
The location is great for a cheap bed near the airport but if you need something comfortable...
Read moreI would be extremely careful trusting this hotel with you debit card. I came into the area for work and my company provided and paid for the hotel room in full before my arrival. The employees at check-in asked for my card to put on file for incidentals, I assumed this was protocol even though my company had already paid for the room in full and their card was the primary card to be charged. I then wake up to a $480 pending charge on my account. When I asked the employee I checked in with (Michael) he was not helpful in any sense of the word and said they do not know what amount is charged for incidentals and it should be cleared at checkout. When I asked if there was anything I can do, since my company has their card on file. He responded "What do you want me to tell you?" Fortunately the amount was canceled and I was able to return home for the weekend in a comfortable state of mind. The following week my company brought me out again for work. However for this week, this hotel put three pending charges on my account totaling approximately $1,900. When I called to ask about this, a different employee said that shouldn't have happened and they would take care of it. A day later unfortunately charges for $1,200 went through. This left me with a negative bank account balance with no money to pay bills which negatively affected my credit score, and no money to eat during my work trip so I had to depend on my amazing coworkers to buy me food. Of course my next step was to speak to whoever has the highest authority at this hotel. But another unfortunate circumstance, the general manager doesn't come in until 9:00 a.m. at this point I would have already been at work for 3 hours, due to my 12-hour work days, so I cannot speak to him in person. And I think it speaks for itself, that through these last two weeks, the GM could have called my work phone which they have on file to try to sort this out. I did not receive any phone call from him. At the time I am writing this review, it will be Thursday of my second week. I would usually not write a review before my stay is completed but no resolution from this unfortunate situation la Quinta has put me through will...
Read moreI originally contacted the property directly to ask about early check in rates as I was coming to DFW from an 11 hour red eye flight and had a 12 hour layover. I was told that there was no early check in and that my only option was to book 2 nights. I did so via expedia, which is how I typically make all my reservations. I sent a note to remind them that I would be checking in after 6 am on the day after the original day of the reservation. I also sent a second note the day before my reservation to remind them.
Once I arrived at the hotel, I walked into a construction zone and no one actually at the folding tables serving as a front desk. There were also signs explaining that due to construction, there would be no running water for a significant portion of my time at the hotel.
It took over 30 mins for a front desk attendant to arrive to try and check me in. I found out that my reservation had already been cancelled as I was a “no show”. They were able to get me a room, however, by that time, I had already decided that it was unlikely I would have a comfortable rest during the day due to construction and the risk of not having water running was a great concern.
I decided to get a room in the neighbouring property.
It seemed reasonable to expect some sort of a refund, even for the day I had not stayed after the discovery of the state of the hotel. One should expect a fully functioning room for the full rate I was charged. That has not been the case and no refund was issues.
The front desk attendant was rude and unhelpful. Hotel management has refused to discuss the situation with me. Expedia has been trapped by the hotel’s no refund policy.
I will not return to La Quinta and doubt I will use any other Wyndham property again. If you choose to do so, I hope your experience is better than mine was. #DFW #Wyndham #badhotel #Laquintainnsandsuites...
