Re: Chumash Casino Resort. I travelled solo in July 2025 for a "STRESS-FREE" ("per their ads") 2 night vacation. From the get-go it was NOT STRESS-FREE. ||Check in. I arrived at 2:30 pm and was happy to wait at the "84 degree heated pool" until 4 pm check in. At 6:30 my room was STILL not available. I booked a room with a balcony. at 6:30, I was then told that check in is anytime AFTER 4 pm. The sign ON THE REGISTRATION DESK (only) said check in from 4-7 pm. WHAT? 4 pm is standard and indicated on receipt, by phone and at front desk. I was told the delay was because I requested 1 particular room (I was asked which view I wanted and selected the "Creek view" vs. the "valet parking" view) and that's why my check in hadn't happened yet - but they weren't "late" for check in. I did not pick one particular room (never been there before so how could i have picked l a particular room?). This was the first of several encounters with the manager CODY who was unaccountable, showed a fake 'caring' covering a complete lack of interest in solving any issues, displayed 0 personality and friendliness, and had only 1 answer to everything "I’ll let them know" (who is "They" when he's the manager?).||I never got the creek view as they STILL hadn't gotten it ready for me (remember I arrived at 2:30, 4 hours later, still not ready). 1 room?? The view I took was of the Valet (only other choice) which was VERY LOUD with everyone's car radios blaring upon entry to the parking area. It was so busy they had 11 valet persons working on one of my 2 nights there. Like a circus atmosphere - cars in and out, valets directing traffic, etc.||Next. The pool was very cold. I checked with the pool guy and he checked temperature. It was 74 not 84. I was told over and over by multiple employees, that the pool was 84 (even pool guy started with that answer when asked). 74 is COLD for a pool that size. Bartender said they get a lot of complaints about it. Guests at pool agreed - shivering cold. I did enjoy the free use of the cabana - it saved me while i waited indefinitely for a room.||I was hungry. Hadn't eaten but didn't want to eat at the available sit down stuffy house restaurants and going into town was out of the question as I was in my bathing suit and luggage was checked into waiting area. Found out AFTER departure that there is a FOOD COURT by the sports bar with SUSHI, pub food, burgers, etc. The food court is not mentioned nor publicized ANYWHERE in the hotel, or on their website. Only mentioned by the (elderly and funny) parking attendant, JIM when I checked in - didn't pay attention at that time but wish I had. They have obviously gone out of their way to DELIBERATELY NOT TELL you about the Food Court - must not be owned by them as they are very good at promoting THEIR OWN restaurants/venues on site. That really pissed me off as I would have loved to have had that option for lunch (sushi or a burger) to pass the many waiting hours.||The Spa. 2 girls behind the counter. 1 woman in the little office doing paperwork. I was in there for 10-15 minutes browsing. My presence was not acknowledged in any way, shape or form. coming, browsing or going.||The Willows. With a lack of options (hello....food court) and wanting some quality food, I took myself to an expensive dinner there. Ordered Soup, Salad and Risotto. The soup was delicious. It took 42 minutes after the soup to get the salad. From the time I sat down, there were dirty dishes (with remnants of food) at table next to me from 2 people who had already left. During the wait for the salad, I counted the number of times and various restaurant workers who passed by the dirty table without cleaning it. 36. 36 times someone didn't clean that table while I dined right next to it. Kinda disgusting.||I would like to say that there were many 'lower level' employees who made my stay bearable. Friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the girl bellhop who stored my luggage on check-in - i think her name was Cheyenne (but spelled differently. The front desk girl (Sierra) in this picture who personally walked me to the Willows (which was helpful as its a winding road through the casino!). The long haired bell hop who helped me upon my check out (Vincent?).||I hope this doesn't come off racist, but strangely I didn't see what would appear to be any Native Americans working at this Native American hotel which is rather perplexing.||The hotel itself is really quite beautiful and well decorated; hats off to the architects and designers.||I won't be going back there, nor recommending the venue. Too many other choices in the area that are...
Read moreWe booked our room online on booking.com and were looking forward to the experience. We are a party of four and drove 3 hours. Valet is complimentary which is nice upon arrival & got our bags off the vehicle. We entered to check in & come to find out we didn’t have reservation even though we had confirmation number & money was withdrawn from account. We were told we had to wait 2 hours to confirm if we can get a room. Meanwhile we entered the casino while waiting with our belongings & started gambling while waiting. Immediately we felt harassed & the security were behind us watching us consistently. They looked into one of our bags and saw we had closed alcohol & told us we couldn’t have alcohol due to cutoff time at 10pm. We arrived at 3am & understood what security asked of us to leave our bag with alcohol outside. We went to take the bag filled with our snacks and alcohol by the main entrance as we didn’t know where our vehicle was parked by valet. 20 mins passed and we went to grab our bag by main entrance and it was no longer there. We were told by multiple staff they saw security take it. When asking where was our bag to concierge they called over security to speak with us. When security came to us, five of them came to talk to us regarding one back and intentionally wanted to intimidate us. They were extremely rude and stated we didn’t have a room after telling them we did but proceeded to say we didn’t because we weren’t checked in which again was not our fault. Since entering the casino we felt intimidated by security and followed. We paid money as any other guest to come and enjoy there services and were poorly treated. While gambling we were not even greeted by waitress or were offered water or coffee. We felt unwanted and intimidated by security and staff. No one was able to help us or make us feel welcomed. The casino, security, and hotel are not connected and cannot offer any help with an issue. We were able to be checked in after all and came up to our room. Once being in the room we were discouraged to go downstairs after being harassed and treated how we were. Being it is my first time coming and was excited to visit new casino being I go to multiple casinos and resorts by far this is the WORST customer service EVER. I am not happy paying anything to them or gambling. I will NEVER return and will never encourage anyone to come to this hotel. 15 minutes into the room we received a call saying we are too loud. We have only been talking to each other, with no speaker, our music playing low on our phone. 3rd time now we are harassed again in a matter of 3 hours with security knocking at our door saying they have received 3 noise complaints and threatening to kick us out. WE HAVE BEEN HARASSED AND INTIMATED SINCE ENTERING THE CASINO & NOW FOLLOWED TO OUR ROOM WITH THE SAME TREATMENT. This is outrageous customer service and treatment. We have been cooperative and respectful. Security called sheriff on us for no reason because we were having a conversation about the events that have taken place since...
Read moreMe and my family stayed here last weekend for my mom's 60th birthday. It was our first time staying at the hotel and we really wanted to like it, especially because it is in such a convenient location if you are visiting Solvang. However, we had a very bad experience.
Pros: The location, casino, pool, and restaurants all looked great and it was a very calm and relaxing environment.
Cons: Our room did not have a working shower. I travel quite a bit and normally wouldn't let something like this ruin a trip, but it was handled so poorly, it really put a big damper on the first day of our trip. We really wanted to love this hotel and were already talking about coming back with the rest of our family for weekend trips, but I can't recommend it after this experience.
We checked in on a Friday afternoon with a jam packed day of activities planned bright and early the next day for my mom's 60th. Upon trying to use the shower Friday night, it wouldn't turn on after trying everything. We called the front desk and asked if maintenance could fix it, but were told it would be around an hour wait. I said we would be going to sleep by that time, but asked if we could have someone come first thing in the morning at 7:30am to fix it because we had an early start to our day and needed use of a shower. They said they would schedule that, but to call first thing in the morning just in case they didn't see the request. I asked as a back up if they had showers in the spa that we could use since again we had to be out of the hotel early for our planned activities. The person at the front desk said they did not know if there were showers in the spa. So I said that was fine we would wait for maintenance in the morning.
The next morning, we called right at 7am to ask maintenance to come and they said they would send someone right away. After over an hour, and 3 follow up calls, maintenance did come after 8am. They were there for over an hour trying to fix the shower, but could not. At this point it's after 9am and we are going to be extremely late. I had to call the front desk again and explain again that we needed to shower and were running very late. They finally sent housekeeping up to escort us to a different room on a completely different floor to use the shower. Having to walk through the entire hotel in our pajamas un-showered was quite embarrassing, but we were grateful for the use of any working shower at this point.
As we were rushing out, I tried to talk to the front desk about the situation and asked for a partial refund or something to help make up for the huge inconvenience of not having a functioning shower, but was told the best they could do was offer us a $50 dining credit that we weren't interested in using because we were already extremely late because of the time spent dealing with the no shower situation.
Overall, I understand sometimes things happen, but this entire situation could have been handled much...
