Santa Ynez Billiards & Cafe — Restaurant in California

Been here a few times and had a good time, couple buddies love this spot too. But just walked in to grab a beer after a 9 hour shift and was denied service because of my Florida driver's license. What seemed to be the owner (I've seen her work there and it's a family owed bar) stated that my driver's license looks 'fake'. Left to my house to get a passport- which is a federal document and was still denied service.

Perhaps it was my attire (sweater, shorts and a longboard in my hand) that made her make this crucial and sound decision 🤣

I've worked in the Food and Beverage industry for over 6 years and now working in wine production and find it HILARIOUS. There are many pros to living in a small town, then there's small hiccups like this one that drives me to write a review like this one.

Showed up after 10 (actually almost 11) drawn in by the "late night food description" on Google only to learn that the kitchen was closed when we arrived Clearly aware of our disappointment, the bartender volunteered to go back in the kitchen and find out what cold food options might be available for us so we didn't end up at at a local fast food restaurant which appeared to be our only option. We had baba ganoush, baklava and vegetarian grape leaves all of which were amazing! I can't wait to go back when the kitchen is actually open to see what more surprises are in store. This is a family run bar and grill with a Mediterranean /middle eastern twist. It has your traditional bar food, tri-tip sandwiches and a great selection of other Mediterranean offerings to choose from the menu and large selection of cold exotic tap/bottled beer and featured local wines to choose from. The food is consistently good and the family is friendly. You won't get bored here either, while you rack up for a game of pool/billiards, watch sports on various t.v.'s or just visit with your friends on the patio while indulging in some herbal infusions from their ornamental hookah pipes!
