Although they say Hotel and Marina this place does not cater to guest bringing boats at all! It is the keys after all… I generally do not leave bad reviews but our latest vacation in the keys was just about ruined by the experience me and my fiancé had at this hotel. We called a week in advance of our stay to ask about the site and if we were able to bring a boat. The female receptionist I spoke to said absolutely and then said if I planned on using their marina (which is a shallow unusable boat ramp and sketchy unstable dock) that I would be charged a $45 daily fee. I said that we were not going to keep the boat in the water and just needed parking for the boat and trailer. She said we would not be charged and it would be included in our initial charge for the room. We ended up getting charged an additional 190$ for our stay for using their marina… we will be disputing this charge. To make matters worse they have a policy that is not listed anywhere on any of their websites that they do not allow you to rinse off your boat or flush your engine anywhere on the property. This is basic maintenance for boat owners and a necessity if bringing a boat for multiple days in a saltwater environment! The solution from them is find a car wash which to be transparent there is no self service car washes with a spigot to wash your boat within 50 miles I checked… The first day an employee told me about the policy I was visibly upset and said I never would have booked this place if I knew that as I am not going to let my boat engine fishing rods and trailer rust away from saltwater corrosion. He let me wash my boat and flush my engine that day. The second day I come back from a day of fishing and go to flush my engine about 20 seconds after starting my engine the owner starts screaming at the top of his lungs from the balcony of his place telling me to shut it off and stop what I am doing. We got into an argument and he screamed at me “ to have some decency” among other things that are not appropriate. It was like I was vandalizing the property or doing something malicious. It has been a very long time since I was disrespected like this by anyone. To the owner you should have come down and spoke to me face to face like a man and offered some sort of viable solution instead you hid on the top floor and yelled like a insecure little boy in front of the entire property. Update your website and make it known you will not tolerate washing boats or flushing the engine. You also need to make sure your entire staff knows all of your ridiculous policies and rules before answering the phone. Now on to the room I should have gotten a credit from having to become a pest control technician as I killed half a dozen large cockroaches before I ever put any of our stuff in your disgusting room. There was food caked on all of the dishes. The room smelled strong of mildew and mold. There was drywall peeled back on the walls. The pictures are very deceiving, Absolutely the worst possible stay in the entire Florida keys. Happy we were able to go and catch fish all 3 days we stayed and the keys are as beautiful as it gets. Take this as a fair warning if you are bringing a boat or any watercraft do not stay here you are not welcomed at...

Read moreThe management here is amazing!!! Not only were they able to help arrange our last minute accommodation, but both couples went above and beyond to make sure we got in comfortably. Our battery died when we parked at the check in parking, which was unexpected. We ended up using a tow strap, so they could pull us into our spot. We have an overlanding vehicle that has multiple battery systems, and it was being overused on the drive down by charging to many power sources. They referred us to a freebie ride app that drove us to a marine shop where we obtained a marine type battery which fixed the issues. Aside from the trouble with the car, we had great time there. The place had a campy keys vibe, as well as outdoor showers, entryless pool with water fall, byob tiki pavillion, docks, and a beach area for a very comfortable atmosphere. The morning coffee was our favorite Cafe Bustelo, along with little muffins, yogurts, oatmeal, and nutritional bars. The location is close to Windley Key Fossil Reef Geological Park. I am a content creator for Maui Trading FL reef safe sun product distributor, and the geological site was a short walk to obtain material for raising awareness about the reefs. The park has hiking/running trails that are shaded, which was a plus for my partner who trains for ultra races. It's also a very close drive to Founders Park Beach, which is free with proof of stay in Islamorada. We swam there and took our snorkles outside the roped area. There was a variety of sea creatures, just go during high tide. After our adventures we enjoyed the pool, a 24/7 relaxed and not rowdy chillout. The Oceanview sportsbar is in walking distance for some brews and the food was delicious as well. Robbies is minutes south of Coconut Cove for tarpon feeding, and we hit John Pennecamp coral reef park on the way home in Key Largo.
Overall, its one of my favorite of many trips to the keys. Its also a pleasure to meet alot of really wonderful nomads here! We will definitely be coming back and referring our travel friends to...
