Best Western review
We stayed here for 5 nights while visiting family in the area. This motel is not terrible but is not up to the usual Best Western standards. Most mornings there was a decent hot breakfast provided that included sausage, scrambled eggs (powdered??), sausage gravy, biscuits, bread for toast, muffins, cereal, waffles, yogurt, coffee, & assorted juice ācocktailsā. However, the menu was inconsistent. The gravy the first morning was very watery, not bad the second, and non existent on mornings 3,4, & 5. On the fourth morning, there were no napkins, no milk for cereal (replenished when requested), no yogurt and limited yogurt on a couple of other mornings.
The room was clean, and bath room was ok with towels that were fair. In general, lighting was limited with several dark areas particularly around the entrance door and the microwave/refrigerator area. Bedding was marginal to poor with mattresses sagging toward the most used side. The TV system had apparently just been updated and not for the better. While local stations were available, the other channel selections were pretty poor with only a couple of cable news channels. If you donāt like Fox News or CNN, you are pretty much out of luck. There were also a relatively small number, perhaps 50 or so, of other cable channels, most of limited interest. There was no housekeeping during the entire 5 day stay which is not a big problem but would have been nice to have had trash emptied and coffee pods replenished once or twice. Staff at the desk were pleasant and helpful.
Think there are probably one or two better options in the area at basically the same price so on our next visit, I think we will try...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis hotel was very spacious and accommodating. We had requested an accessible room because my husband has Parkinson's. There was plenty of room to maneuver around the room and the bathroom was more than adequate. Having a room on the 2nd floor wasn't a problem since there was an elevator. The woman at the front desk was very nice and friendly. When my husband checked in he was given a 10% coupon for a restaurant near the hotel. That was an added bonus since we don't know our way around the area. When we first took our things up to our room we were having difficulty with the tv. We couldn't get it to turn on and at first thought it was the remotes batteries. But it turned out that the tv wasn't plugged in. Maybe a previous guest had unplugged it and housekeeping didn't realize it, but after we get it plugged back in, it worked just fine. We were surprised to see the moisture on the inside window sill and top of the heater/ac. Not sure what had caused that to happen, but I just laid a small towel across it and we didn't have a problem. There was cold air coming into the room near the window, but that wasn't a tremendous problem either. I just got an extra blanket. Having just checked in this afternoon, we have not experienced the breakfast yet, but don't expect any problems and are looking forward to it in the morning. The foyer as we came in was festively decorated for Christmas with a large tree, presents, and stockings in the fireplace mantel. A very welcome sight for Christmas. Keep up...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI chose this hotel because it is close to I-40 but far enough away that you don't hear road noise all night long. It is also convenient to dining, gas, etc.||The price was about $50 higher than I'd expect for a hotel of this caliber in a city / area like this ($174US + taxes for a Saturday night).||The room smelled musty at check-in, as if someone had smoked in it. We reported it to the desk clerk, who made a note on our file so we wouldn't be charged an extra cleaning fee. We didn't ask to change rooms, but in most hotels the clerk would have offered one if available.||The king bed may be fine for one person, but if two are sharing, expect to be bounced every time the other person rolls over.||At breakfast, the scrambled eggs and the biscuits were extremely salty - inedible for most people, and probably dangerous for any guest with high blood pressure. Looking for cereal as an alternative? Only sugary kids option, nothing more adult like Raisin Bran.||After leaving a review in response to an email from the hotel, I received an email response from the manager with the standard invitation to give them another chance to provide a superior stay. So I contacted the hotel and chatted with the manager, telling her a superior stay would require a better mattress and less salt in the eggs and biscuits. She conceded they weren't going to be changing mattresses, and their breakfast items are pre-seasoned from their supplier, so I plan to look elsewhere for my next visit, likely...
