Best Western Plus LaCrescent / LaCrosse — Hotel in La Crescent

Here for 4 days. 1st night, tv only a few channels worked. Was told they had new tvs installed, she came to my room with the maintenance man, im guessing. Thought she came along as to not leave us alone in the closed room. Next thing i know, she leaves! Just have to say, that made me very uncomfortable being left alone in a closed hotel room, with a strange man. Next morning, all channels work. Come back in the evening, only have news and sports channels. Girl at desk said she would reset the system in the back Not very impressed with the staff. Nothing changed. Next morning, all channels work again. Spoke with the overnight clerk, said he reset the system when he came in....thought that was done earlier the night before?? He was nice enough, but tried blaming the weather for the channels not working....sunny and calm the entire week....No issues with tv after that. Morning after the 2nd night called to ask for housekeeping that day. No problem, we'll take care of it. Come back in the evening, nothing had been done. Leave on the morning of my last day here, come back and they finally did housekeeping. All the nights here, only 1 night I didn't hear the guests on the floor above me stomping around....last night here and they are extremely loud and making noise above me until after 11pm and started uo again by 5am....Morning breakfast lady does not even say good morning, runs out of coffee each morning and sits in the little side room on her phone. Here for work for 4 days and have to say, not impressed with this stay, or this hotel. Never had an issue at Best...

The Bad: They gave us the wrong hotel room. We went down to the front desk ask said we have the wrong room, this was a queen we booked a king. Turns out he gave us another persons room, easy fix he switched us to the correct room and gave us $20 off for the inconvenience. Our room was not cleaned very well, when we walked in and looked around the bathroom was not swept. There was paper and dirt on the floor, in the main part of the room there was a peanut laying on the floor and by the bed there was a hair tie. The freezer tray in the mini fridge/freezer was so dirty, that has not been cleaned in a while. The pool was freezing, it was probably about 60-65 degrees!! They claim it is set at 80, however it was not at all. We went swimming at 9pm-ish, so I don't know if they turn the heaters off at a certain point however it said it was open until 11pm. We were not able to swim, which was very disappointing.

The Good: I was impressed with the breakfast. Eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit, oatmeal the list goes on. Granted our room had come cleanliness issues, over all the hotel was clean. The lobby looked very nice, the pool area was clean. The staff was very nice. With the room mix up he offered a credit without me having to ask, which I thought was very nice. This hotel was very nice. Our room was clean and bright. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel is located very near (walking distance) to two restaurants for lunch/dinner and we ate at both (both were very good). We did eat downstairs at the complementary continental breakfast on one morning and it was a very nice area with adequate food/beverage. The staff were very nice at this hotel.||We did encounter two minor issues during our stay. Our tub drain was slightly clogged as we discovered when showering the first morning. We reported this issue to the front desk and I'm sure they will take care of it (hopefully) for the next guest who stays in that room. Our other issue was the undisclosed $7.20 "resort fee" that was added onto our final bill upon checkout. We've contacted the hotel to request that this fee be credited back to us. While this hotel is very nice, it is not a "resort" and this add-on fee (while not a lot of $$) was an irritant as it seemed a way to capture a bit of extra $$ from people as they're...
