Swing Bridge Pub — Restaurant in La Crescent

Passing through on my way home to New England from the Mayo clinic. I discovered this place by accident and it was a happy happy accident. Extraordinary food. You had a lunch special featuring a prime rib sandwich on a hoagie bun with cheese with fries. For an additional $3 I had the best fresh salad bar with many choices including chocolate pudding for dessert. This would have been $70 for this meal back home in the tourist area where I live. I want to definitely recommend this place and tell you that the superb service the I received from Sarah must be noted. I had a very very hard day yesterday and night last night because of treatment and this just has renewed my spirit today. God is good and always provides and I am so grateful for Sarah's hospitality. I live in La crescent and first time getting food here. Positive note the lady who took my order was nice. I originally was going to order online but they have door dash for pick up and it inflated the price so I called. I ordered the classic cheeseburger add Swiss and a side of ranch. Cheddar is not a good cheese for a cheeseburger, it was tasteless even with the added Swiss. The tomatoes were good tho and I like the red onion but no pickles were included. It shows on the picture but not in the description. The fries were not that good and they forgot my ranch. The meat itself was not bad but the burger would be greatly improved with some good American cheese. The price is decent so that was a plus but I only ate 1/2 my fries and 1/2 of the burger giving the rest to my dogs. Not bad...

Not great actually. This was 4 days ago. I think they were understaffed, we rarely saw waitress. Atmosphere......extremely loud inside. We had to go outside, which was fine. Food......I ordered the house burger. Menu said, it had a 4-cheese blend. Came with 1 strip of Kraft plastic cheese, no sauce, just onion and tomato. Very plain. I asked a couple of the workers, they said : A. they stopped getting 4cheese 4 months ago B. "House burger" means plain burger. C. You could have asked for house sauce.

A. Then change the menu, or tell the customer B. Very, Not true, if so, what does "house soup" mean at other restaurants? C. How was I to know this?

Now, this is a minor irritation, not a big deal. But if I owned or managed this place I would want to know. Would I go here again, ...
