PROS • Good Beds, Sheets were of good quality. • Fantastic Water Pressure in the Shower - dermabrasion level. • Clean Rooms • Room View was lovely over the pool and straight out to the lake • Indoor/Outdoor Pool, Indoor/Outdoor Hot Tubs, Playgrounds, Beach Front on the Lake, Small Arcade room, lots of picnic tables/chairs • There were 4 kayaks on site - not sure you could request more if they were out. • The small inflatable course was perfect for 6 and up kids. • Good quiet refrigerator CONS *Corporate owners are doing things as cheap as they can and it's very noticeable. A lot of Fees to watch out for. *Bring your own Beach Towels. They do not provide them or you use the little towels you have in the bathroom. *Room Service was promised but not delivered upon this was a common lament amongst the other guests we spoke to. Check In: *We arrived at 3:30 and our room was not yet ready. I was told I would be texted when it was - we were hot and tired and just wanted to jump into the pool. I never was texted or called - the system went down. No communication about this. *The system went down and the staff didn't know how to handle it or communicate. Our check in was delayed with no compensation given or much of an apology. *Make sure to sign your waivers before you arrive and have screenshots of them ready. *I kept having to get my wristband replaced and rescanned - which was annoying. *Not Quiet, Thin floors and walls. Kids were running up and down the hall from 1 am to 3 am. Hotel staff did nothing. Room Condition *Balcony Door Lock was broken. *Hardware was falling off of furniture. *Microwave was dial , hard to know how long it was going to go for. *Closet only had 2 hangers, asked for more they did not have any to give. *Not a single place to hang any towels. No hooks anywhere. None. Zero. Zilch. *Picture Frame had Broken Glass - we were concerned it would fall apart on our child *Room was set up for 1 person despite us registering as 3 - 1 coffee cup, 1 chair on balcony, etc. Pain to have go and ask for more. *Our Safe did not work we asked for it to be fixed and no one ever followed up on it. Goose Poop on the grounds everywhere. Beach was cleaned up a bit but they didn't stay on top of it. Guests were litterbugs and staff kept up with it only so much. *When we opened the door to the cabinet with the the safe the safe door would swing open it knocked us as well as got my kid in the head. *Room Service: I was told there would be room service provided if we wanted it. Despite saying Yes, It was never given. When I for it and said we really just wanted fresh towels and garbage service I was told I had to bring my used towels down myself to get new towels. •It’s summer and that means Construction. On both sides of the resort. Lots of hammering sawing and trucks. •Another room had their A/C break down and their fridge broke. They were given a new AC at 10pm that only half worked. Lost all their food cause the new fridge wasn’t cool of course. •DO NOT LOSE...
Read moreI really like this place despite my less than perfect scores. I'll start out with saying that the owner of this place is from Ukraine I believe, and their culture is somewhat objectionable with some people. Keep that in mind going in and you will be fine.
The location itself is beautiful, along Lake Delton. The prices are reasonable, especially for the tiki rooms, and during the off season. Most of the rooms are very clean, especially in the main building. There is a dividing wall between the beds in the rooms in the main building, something I don't know why other hotels don't do more of for privacy and the like. I'll admit the tiki rooms can smell a bit and are not up to par with the main building, I guess their attitude is 'you get what you pay for'
The place is well landscaped on the exterior. They provide canoes and pedal boats to use. There is a nice beach and the water is very swimmable during the summer months, I've swam in it numerous times. Just keep in mind if you have kids, the shallow areas will drop off into deep areas quickly. There is an outdoor pool and hot tub along with an indoor one. The pools have always been very clean every time I've been there. There are plenty of places to grill and make fires, sit under trees, and relax. They sell wood, and have essentials there like charcoal for sale.
If I was working there I'd make a few changes.... such as replacing the old tube TVs with LCDs, adding sit on top kayaks to the list of boats to use, and replacing the pedal boats with faster versions, upgrading the shower heads to ones that use less water and have more features, make sure all the carpeting in the tiki rooms is spotless and the rooms smell clean using ozone shock treatment, not just opening doors and windows, and making sure the TV remote is in every room as I've had it not be there on two occasions now. A little bit of cost could go a long way towards really making this place shine, though they do a pretty good job with it. The exterior and landscaping is great, the interiors could use a bit of modernization. Overall the atmosphere is above par and I'd never pick a place like the kalahari over a place like this when it's half the price with no resort fees and a beautiful lakeside view... I'd recommend it at least until it gets so busy that it's always packed all the time. It's great during the off season. Beautiful warm weather here Labor day and the day after when everyone...
Read moreWe have been coming to Aloha annually for over 7 years. This trip was extremely disappointing and we will not return. Upon check in everything was great. The gal at the front desk was friendly and so accommodating when we asked to upgrade our room. After that it was all downhill. We were surprised that it appeared we were the only guests and delighted that we had the pool area all to ourselves. Until.....we saw the greenish water in the pool, sand in the corners (which, I would think would be from the beach 6 months ago), cold water. We toughed it out with our little grandson but looked forward to warming up in the whirlpool. One toe in and it was ICE COLD. No exaggeration! We had to warm up under the pool shower once we got warm water to finally come through. No soap in the wall pump to wash off. Towels from front desk are the size of a hand towel and feel like sandpaper. The girl at the desk said "I will call someone." This was supper and bedtime for the young one so end of that day. The toilet was not secured to the floor so every sit and rise it banged against the wall. After the first shower the water never shut off so we kept the bathroom door shut so we couldn't hear it. After letting the front desk know they offered a different room but we were not about to pack up everything and move. The rooms really need care and updating. There were holes drilled in the nightstand and chips in the vanity. Dirt and dust on the entire perimeter of the room. The $20 resort fee is BS when you can't use what it includes. They say that includes parking and security but no one is there at night in the winter and where am I supposed to park? Out on the road? The only good thing I can say is the bed linens were clean and fresh but they did not have the nice smell that other hotel linens do. Long review but I want others to know if they have been like us and enjoying Aloha as their favorite place to stay for years, IT IS NOT THE SAME!! Go somewhere else and start a...
