I recommend avoiding unit 314. (The other penthouse, 313, was not available for our family reunion dates, so I was glad to be able to reserve 314. I had seen 313, and it was beautiful.)
314, the unit we did secure, is described as "shabby chic." VERY shabby, not at all chic.
The dishwasher required two visits from maintenance because it literally fell forward out of the cabinet. One of these surprise "pitch forwards" resulted in my shin being gouged by the corner of the door. It is healing nicely. (Overall there were five visits/interruptions from maintenance during our six day visit. Sometimes something was actually fixed; sometimes there was measurement taken for a future remedy. Each time we either needed to stay in or give permission for a stranger to enter the unit if we would be gone.) One has to wonder why a unit with this many challenges would be rented in such a repair-needy condition.
The pots and pans have lost all their Teflon and are dangerous to use. Only one cooking utensil has a matching lid. There were seven forks total for ten guests. Nothing even remotely matched, and most kitchen amenities looked like garage sale items. I did appreciate having plentiful towels (which I washed before leaving) and laundry/dishwasher detergent.
One of the deck doors can't be locked.
The microwave prompts don't work because the dial is not functioning (which was verified by a call to GE), and the manual couldn't be found in the unit.
The main bathrooms each have a wall-hanging hair dryer mount, but only one dryer could be located, and it sparked and smelled like an electrical fire when turned on. We returned it to the front deck for safety purposes.
One of the kitchen cabinet doors was falling off. This was fixed during our stay. Two of the bedroom door handles were broken and were also replaced/repaired. This also necessitated two interruptions in our plans.
The carpet was so filthy that kids had black dirt on the soles of their feet and had to wear shoes at all times.
The powder room sink has a deep crack in its bowl.
One of the main bedroom beds has a splintered frame with sharp pieces of wood exposed. If we'd had a crawling baby it would have been very dangerous.
The two sectional couches in the living room were either torn or badly faded.
The spa tub is a fancy amenity, but one of them has broken hardware. Another penthouse perk is a vanity area in each of the two large bathrooms. Only one of those has a chair for SITTING at the vanity sink, and that chair is broken.
The Project Director does not return phone calls. I have been polite and fair about each of these disappointments, some of them representing an unsafe conditions (ie., splintered wood, flaking Teflon, sparking hair dryer). He asked to come over to see these items the day we checked out, so we were ready early. He didn't show. He texted to say that he would call me instead. No call.
I felt that the lovely surroundings of Lake Delton and the public areas of the resort were such a great draw. The large unit was supposed to be perfect for our reunion. I didn't mind paying $996.00 per night. But the reality is that I feel I deserve a partial refund for needing to overcome these drawbacks. 314 is NOT worth it.
If I can find a way to attach photos, I will. I wonder if the project manager will...
Read moreArrived at the location for an anniversary weekend. The Whirlpool in their VIP lounge was broken with exposed wires, potentially causing an electrical issue, the showerheads were full of calcium and shot everywhere but at you. Talk to Sadie at the front desk and they informed us we could move at 8:30 at night to another’s room or they would have our hot tub fixed in the morning. At 4 o’clock the next day I finally went back and talk to Sadie, and she informed me that somebody came to look at the room, but my dog was in there so they left, then Rich, the property manager told me to go back to my room. He would have maintenance there momentarily two hours later maintenance never came, and he offered to let me use a Whirlpool in another room next-door. I was grateful for this considering 2/3 of my vacation was completed so it was nice to finally get a Whirlpool to use. The following morning my wife and I are getting out of the shower and their maintenance man walks into our room while we are both completely naked. He does not say a single word to us lets the door slam and walks out. I open the door to figure out what’s going on and the guy just stares at me in the most creepy way possible. He did not say a single word did not apologize did not do anything. And if I thought this was the worst part of my stay, I was wrong. We pull the sheets off the bed to ensure that they would get changed for the next guest, and upon removing the mattress cover we noticed that the mattress was completely soaked in blood. When I presented the issue to Rich, the property manager, he informed me that that sounds like a personal issue to him. He also informed me that they would not be compensating me for any of their mishaps, and that they should be charging me for having a dog and site. Which brings me back to Sadie, the front desk clerk. Upon check-in, she asked how many adults how many children would be staying. I informed her two adults and fur babies. When I complained about the horrible conditions in the units that is when I was informed that they didn’t know I had a dog. This is a very classless place. Do not take your wife there for a romantic holiday. This is a very seedy establishment at best. Do not stay here. They do not care about their guests safety and they laugh at you when you complain. Rich and Sadie are very deceptive. They will give you the runaround and refused to give you a number to get a hold of anyone. If anybody would like photos, please reply to my review I would be happy to share photos of bloodsoaked mattresse, exposed in broken wires in the whirlpool, toilets that do not flush properly, this was a very...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to book our stay at the Delton Grand Resort to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary. We had a long 2 hour drive that we started after a long day of work. In short, we were tired and looking forward to relax in our Suite.
Booking was troublesome, as I had to call 3 times to just confirm the room number after booking our stay online. We followed the detailed instructions to retrieve our room key with ease. We entered room 409 only to find many personal belongings scattered throughout the room, including a room key and envelope labeled Stephen 409. Fortunately we didn’t walk in on Mr. Stephen...
My wife and I called the numbers listed on the office door multiple times with no answer. We went back behind the suites and ran into other guests. A nice man called his friend Dana who happened to know one of the owners. Dana came down to meet us in person and called again for us.
After a couple calls, Adam picked up. Adam worked to get us another room, and was aware that we had a two night stay, as he specifically didn’t give us a room that was only available one night. We met Adam near the lockbox and he gave us the keys for 406 and said we can stay there for both nights and apologized and said that never happens and that he would make it right and just to email him Monday. There was still confusion as the woman from the desk came to the door early Saturday evening because she was told 406 should be empty and ready to be cleaned. Fortunately we were present at that time and could talk to her in person, and fortunately for her she didn't walk in on us celebrating our year of marriage...
As Adam stated the room was very nice however the blinds didn’t completely shut which was irksome because theres a lot of foot traffic near the stairs on the level this room was at and didn't exactly give us the privacy we had hoped for. It was mostly clean but we did find some belongings from yet another guest, including a swimsuit underneath the pillow on the chair.
Adam did say they would make it right and to email him Monday. I emailed them and they asked for an address to send a gift certificate. 8 weeks later and we still haven't received anything. We were hoping to have at least have a nights stay refunded to us. Because of all these issues and lack of follow up, I can't in good conscience really recommend this...
