** Penn Staters Gouged 2.5x Rate Increase ** This motel is 50 miles from Penn State, on a nondescript truckstop exit off I-80. Yet they have the brass b*lls to raise their room rate from $130/night to $300/night on Penn State football weekends, a 2.5x increase. I get the economics, and supply/demand, but they’ve not done a huge increase like this in past years—only a modest increase befitting their location and quality. So this year (2024) we paid $130 on Thursday and Sunday, but $300 on Friday/Saturday. To add insult to injury, my wife wanted to watch the game on TV while I was at the game, but THEY DON’T HAVE THE BIG TEN NETWORK (BTN) IN THEIR MOTEL!! So she had to find a nearby bar to watch the game. Are you kidding me??!! Beyond the price gouging of Penn Staters, the motel is showing its age. An overall dark and dingy vibe in hallways and rooms. The bathroom in the room was dark and dingy, with an old, worn and chipped wooden toilet seat and a worn/ripped shower curtain. Breakfast offering was basic and minimal; just enough to check the “free breakfast” checkbox. Lastly, when we checked out and I lodged my complaint about the gouging and the lack of BTN channel on TV, the assistant manager chose to debate, argue, and go point/counterpoint with me. All I wanted to do was vent, and all she had to do was listen. I wasn’t asking for anything, just venting and expecting her to forward the gouging/BTN issues up the chain. Sheesh, customer service was not her strong suit. She could learn from her front desk people, who listened and were great. Bottom line, beware this gouge-happy motel on Penn State football weekends. There are at least 3 other motels to choose from at this I-80 exit.

Our family stayed overnight here while traveling. It's a bang for your buck. Check-in and out was a breeze and the desk staff was very courteous. It was a modest hotel that was seemingly clean. The decor through the hotel and rooms seems dated, or at least just not my style. The room was spacious, clean, and beds were firm but comfortable. No fans in the bathroom. The sink didn't drain properly and it would quickly fill with water. When we turned the shower on, it made a very loud noise for the first 5 min or so. Shower had nice pressure however, if you're a taller person you may have some issues as the showerhead is not very high. I'm short so it worked well for me. There also isn't much light that gets into the shower area. I saw signs for grab and go breakfast so I was surprised when we got downstairs to a variety of freshly made food options including gluten and dairy free. My one and only (but big) con is the cleanliness of the hot tub and pool. After a long travel (with a child) one thing we really needed was the pool and hot tub to release some energy and tension from being stuck in a car. The hot tub had a funky color foam stuck on the tile inside the tub as well as very apparent mold along the tile around the tub but mainly in the corners. Unfortunately because we started the tub right away I didn't notice this until we were in it. We looked over at the pool and saw a bandaid on the bottom. We didn't look any further at that as all we wanted to do was shower at that point.

The lady at the front desk was a complete joke ! We shouldn't be told ever from any employee that any of her business ! After driving from Illinois, we want to stop and get a room. we had a reservation show to the place and refused to give us a room. The lady called Sam was very disrespectful and told me that she would be calling the police if I would leave the property ! Was not my fault that they made a mistake and gave our room to someone else ! My wife and my 9 month old and my 13 year old have to leave! Was a horrible experience! Will never stay in this company again! And now I got a response from the hotel accusing me of being rude, which is completely unacceptable ! The young lady thinks it is ok to be disrespectful and get away with this can a behavior ! The person responding to a review is the reason for this behavior ! I ask for a room at 6 am and I'm a paying costumer! I will not allow anyone to be laughing in my face after I did the reservation online ! I was told to come back! The cleaning lady next to her was also laughing after she said to me that she would not tell any of her ladies to finish a room for me ! I ask for a room, nothing out of this word at 12 pm after they make the mistake ! The abuse behavior continues after I put my review ! Make seen like is a behavior that is appreciated for this location!

I'd initially had notes in a review on Expedia, but I didn't get a chance for revision before it was apparently submitted during an app glitch. I'd placed a request to have it removed though, and I'm opting to write a bit here instead.

I'll start by saying that the front desk attendant was amazing! She had a cool personality, and kept up with my dad's corny humor without batting an eye. She also helped with any issues we had. Other workers put up with random phone calls and questions from my family, and group cannonballs and diving in No Diving zones. I'm just thankful that nobody got hurt or in trouble; aside from scolding.

Breakfasts were unique in the aspect of different options being put out every day. Instead of classic waffle irons, they had a self-cooking pancake machine. Mango water and a Nescafé machine were other things my family liked. Almond milk being available was also nice; I'm lactose intolerant, and my younger brother is teetering into becoming vegetarian. Greek yogurt, sausage gravy, and cheese omelettes were equally interesting, too, even if I couldn't partake.

Rooms were comfy, but not exactly soundproof, and beds were firm (I like firm). Even if my mother and I saw them as looking like Fulls instead of Queens, they served their purposes well. Though the shower being a little on the small side as well was surprising; I still think my larger friends would have a hard time fitting, so I just need to be careful with Best Westerns in that regard when it comes to travelling with buds. Pool and hot tub were nice, though the water seemed a tad murky and the sides were rough as a grindstone, and at one point the kids thought there was a large, drowned spider at the bottom of the former... I couldn't even dip a toe in after that. Spiders terrify me!

Considering price and all amenities, and nice restaurants within walking distance, it wasn't bad. The biggest flaw here was purely weather-oriented, in my opinion: To future visitors, be very careful on the property's surroundings during rain, or up to two days afterward. Same goes for surrounding businesses; the ground everywhere becomes muddy and slippery. Our vehicles were so close to the door, so sidewalks were avoided by everyone, and we had many falls. I guess they charged $25 as a fee for muddy towels as a result? Hopefully lessons were learned by...

We rented 2 rooms for guest for our daughters wedding for guest. Small gathering after the wedding to visit family rarely seen and was told buy desk staff ( Ginger Smith) we we're to loud and forcefully told we would be removed if we didn't quiet down. As Ginger lurked at the top of the stair way for some time ( call it stalking, call it what you will) we found a bed bug in the room and turned it over to her..... in the top of the stair well... after our 20+ yr old children came up from having a smoke, we were told we were being removed because our children were running around and making noise. She then called the police to have us removed.....who upon arrival waited in the hall outside our room for a few minutes before knocking and telling us to leave and to their own words.... don't know why. Remember this was guest for our daughters wedding! So my suggestion and reference for this place.... if you are looking for a retirement home place to stay, it's great! For anyone else who may like to have a few drinks and laughs, stay somewhere....anywhere, just not here! To the above mention staff member... I hope you sit on a stack of staples. When it comes to customer service, a wood chipper is more friendly. I've traveled the world and stayed in crappier places than this with better and friendlier service. To management..... hope you find better people to represent your business, because Ginger Smith has the type of personality to be a bathroom attendant at a second rate strip club on "B"...
