Booked the cabin for 3 nights but i wish we could have stayed longer. A quiet, peaceful place off the main road in Lead but nestled among tall trees. Our cabin (#3) was small and cozy but just right for us. Clean & cool, with homey decor. Small kitchen equipped w sink, fridge, microwave; no stove but has electric skillet and hot plate. King and queen beds, 2 bathrooms w showers but no bathtubs. Has a deck w a gas grill (we didn't stay long enuf to use it). Grocery store up the street but be aware, it closes at 9pm.The owners were very welcoming, i felt right at home. If you require a lot of space, this place isnt for you! But if you like a quiet cozy place, i definitely recommend.

We stayed in cabin #5 with our 3 kids for family vacation and had a great time! The little 3 bedroom cabin was perfect for our family. The location was great, everything was clean and tidy, and very affordable! Our ONLY negative thing to say at all would be the parking is limited so keep that in mind and maybe call ahead if you are curious about parking for your particular cabin, but the owners were absolutely fantastic in helping us find room for our extra parking needs. We visited with the owners a few times during our stay and they were always a delight! We would definitely stay again and recommend to others. Thank you for a great place for our family to stay on vacation!

Cute little cabins! The owner was super friendly! We stayed in #9. It has a big parking space. Perfect for our big jacked up Ford. The cabin was spacious for the two of us with a cute little deck attatched. Since we are from out of the country, the only downside is while checking out online, it was listed that our cabin had wifi available. Unfortunately, we were a tad too far to connect to the internet. So if you are booking the cabin for that reason I suggest getting one closer to the main office. They also have a nice comunal fire pit, a covered picnic area, and a chuck wagon for a cute little photo op. We would definitely stay here again!

BEWARE!!!!!! Beware, when they require you to pay in advance. It is because that is the only way they can get you to stay. Don't waste your money on this place. I can understand if a place is old, but this place is just plain filthy and disgusting. From the dirt everywhere in the room, the bathroom floor was extremely dirty and sticky, crumbs on and in the beds, cob webs all over the room, the toaster provided in the room was filthy, there was no griddle in the room as stated on there website, I had to sit on the front porch in order to use the wifi because it didn't work in the room, there was only one roll of toilet paper in the room, the TV remote was sticky, there was a trash can on the porch by our front door that smelt horrible like it hadn't been removed in weeks, there was mold in the fridge, The inside of the microwave was dirty with dried food spills and crumbs, and there was a strong smell of cat pee in the room. They tried to cover up the smell with air freshener after complaining which you could imagine wore off fairly quick. We found crumbs on and in the bed at check in which you would think would have fallen off the beds sheets when they had been changed. There were crumbs and dried liquid on the night stand left from the last guests. There was mold on the shower curtain and dirt on the outside of the shower curtain. There was a hole in the bottom of the door in the bathroom that connected the two rooms. And it was almost impossible to get the bathroom door shut and if you did good luck getting. And not to mention the bathroom door didn't lock. The window in the bathroom opened but there was no screen in the window, But there was a bent up screen on the floor below the window that I guess they thought you could set in the window seal to use but it was too small and didn't work. And when we arrived my youngest son noticed there were only three towels in the bathroom and with there being 4 people in our family we would need another towel. So we went to the office to get an extra towel and we were greeted by a member of the staff and after we explained that we needed another towel because there were only three in the room she became extremely rude and unpleasant but finally after arguing with her we got another towel. But, there was a problem with the towel that she gave me. It looked similar to the bath mat in front of the shower. It was old, frayed out and had bleach stains on it. Then to top it off my son discovered his pillow was moldy at bed time. This place looks as if they don't care about there business. The owners were never around. A basket is left in the office to drop your keys at check out. They obviously don't want to know just how awful their cabins are because they don't make the themselves available to the costumers. I'm sure they wouldn't sleep in those conditions or with a moldy pillow. I think it would do them some good to check out the conditions their cabins are in. Hope you find this helpful when choosing a place to stay. There customer service and cleanliness is horrible. If I could give it zero...

IF YOU WANT TO PAY $85 A NIGHT TO CONTRACT A HORRIBLE CASE OF RINGWORM OR ATHLETES FOOT, THIS IS THE PLACE...

This is the most filthy motel I have ever seen.

EVERYTHING AND I MEAN EVERYTHING WAS BEYOND FILTH!

This place should be condemned by the board of health.

Dark, dingy and dated. Everything in the room was sticky including the carpet as I was afraid to walk on it in my bare feet.

The couch looked like it had been dug out of the town dump it was so filthy I had to use a bath towel to cover the couch to sit on and was still afraid to sit on it or use the couch pillows.

The room smelled of mold, mildew, and animals and urine also something unidentifiable

The hot water in the shower was at best cool, not hot very disappointing after a long day of driving and the bathrooms would turn your stomach.

There were black hairs in the showers the soap dispensers were empty and no shampoo, or wash cloths. The towels were also dirty and used. The moldy shower curtains (yes, both showers were disgusting.)

The bedding had not been changed and had been slept in more than once (not by me) and the linens were dirty and smelled of animal urine and definitely were not fresh and clean and you could see the hair and that someone had used and slept on the pillow cases.

There was also animal hair, and black human hair in the bed (hence the black hair in the shower.)

It also looked like cat hair all over the bedding and lampshade on the chest of drawers. There was cat hair everywhere.

.Bugs crawling around the walls, floors and window sills.

The remote for the TV did not work.

The curtains were see-through.

There was communal coffee in the room that was literally poured in an open sandwich bag and totally unsanitary. God only knows who had used it and dug around in it. The coffee .

The dirty old fan in the bedroom had grease on the fan blades and looked as if it had been retrieved from the town dump..

I found out when I got home I had contracted a severe case of ringworm from sleeping here. ((((((YES... RINGWORM))))))!!!

Avoid this place at all cost... . Couldn't have been more gross... DISGUSTING... Unhealthy... Don't let the cutest exterior fool you... Really check out the room before handing over your credit card. BEWARE and avoid this place like the plague because you just may contract it there... You can be sure the positive reviews were posted by owners or friends and family of the owners who have never stayed in this vile little motel of horrors... HEED MY WARNINGS TO YOU!!!

The owner claim I never stayed here. I have the credit card receipts and my doctor bills for the ringworm to prove I have. So that makes them liars to boot. Filthiest place I have ever stayed in my 60 years. No... I do not have this dump confused with another place. I have...

We also stayed at the Ponderosa from October to January($895 per month) My mother was in an accident on December 30th. Dr. said that she would probably die within 1 week due to severity of head trauma. I had already made prior arrangements to pay our rent on the 8th as I get paid biweekly. Joyce had started calling and demanding money on January 1st because we had told them we had a family emergency and had to go to Michigan. As if I wasn't under enough stress already I had reminded her that I get paid on the 8th and the agreement that we had made. She continued to call and harass me daily and insisted that we return to south dakota. I agreed to pay late fee charges but didn't have the full amount at the time. We have a very small car and two children so we didn't take much with us. My wife returned to make a payment and put our stuff into storage. Dan said that she could come make a payment and clean the cabin out. However when she got there she was denied access for two days. They went through our belongings kept what they wanted and threw the rest out in the snow and told my wife to come and get it. Although our stuff was only there for two weeks and a lot of it either missing or damaged they still charged us for the whole month plus late fees and cleaning fees. Our $100 cleaning deposit was never acknowledged but we was charged an additional $150 for cleaning even though we was denied the opportunity to clean ourselves. In total we where charged $1200 for two weeks of storage.(storage being a figure of speech since we wasn't there using the facilities,...
