Warning: Bed bugs and horrible service. I hate to write a bad review but I hope to spare future travelers from our awful experience at the Blackstone Lodge & Suites. Our first room at the Blackstone was infested with bed bugs. We were able to capture the adult bed bug on our second night and took photos of my bites. We kindly and discreetly told the front desk attendant about the bed bug - showing all of the evidence we had (including the live bed bug in a bag). The front desk attendant did show much concern at all for our two nights spent in a bed bug infested room but did change our room. The new room we were moved to was disgusting and had multiple stains on the pillows, stains on towels, sticky floors, and a vent that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. We asked if the hotel would be able to provide complimentary laundry to rid our items of the bed bugs. The front desk attendant said he would have to call the General Manager who would not be on-site the entire week. When we asked if we could get a phone number to talk to the manager ourselves, he said we could only email her. We emailed the manager three times without any response or phone call back. No one ever followed-up with us on the bed bug situation or offered any form of discounted laundry, refund, or price deduction in our stay. They charged my credit card on the second night so I could not get a refund or leave early without losing my money. We understand that hotels cannot always prevent bed bugs, but we were absolutely appalled with how the whole situation was handled. It made me VERY concerned for the other guests in the hotel and the overall sanitation practices. On my checkout, the front desk attendant said that the bed bug may have “flown in” through an open window. Bed bugs do not fly or jump. We spent days heat-treating our items to avoid an infestation at our home. It was a nightmare. I have never felt so dismissed by a hotel and its management. I have stayed at many other budget hotels and don’t have high expectations, but this was beyond anything I’ve experienced before. Additional disappointments: -Hot tubs were grimy and had a strong, funky smell. -Hotel breakfast was horrible and not as advertised on the website. -No on-site manager to handle any of your concerns. If you bring a problem to the front desk they will refuse to address it. PLEASE consider staying somewhere else in the area, even if it means spending a few more dollars a night. This was, by far, the worst hotel experience I’ve had and would not wish this upon anyone. I seriously hope the Blackstone Lodge and Suites makes some serious changes for the wellbeing of its patrons. Will never return.

Writing this review a couple of days after our stay because the headache I developed from staying there has finally dissipated. We booked our room through Expedia, only to arrive and find out that Expedia had overbooked the rooms. The front desk attendant was extremely rude about this, shrugging their shoulders and telling us there was no room for us. After asking if there was anything left, we were offered the “suite” for twice what we paid online. We should have just walked away then, but we were exhausted and accepted. At first, the “suite” had a non-functional light switch when we first walked in. We would come to find that may have been on purpose to help hide how disgusting this room was. When we did get the lights working, we saw an ancient carpet, black mold in the bathroom with a jacuzzi tub that looked like it was installed in 1972 and no lock on the door. There was also no heat in the room, but we found a separate light switch on the wall next to the thermostat with no label or directions. Given that the entry light only intermittently worked, I was also concerned about possible electrical issues. I went to the front desk to inquire, however no one was there and there was no button to request an attendant. I waited 15 minutes, during which I could hear two people talking in the closed room next to the office. That door briefly cracked open, an attendant peered out to check the front desk, then slammed the door shut again. He finally came out another few minutes later and was notably frustrated when I asked him if there is heat and how to operate it (the light switch has to be DOWN to turn the heat on). Fast forward to actually falling asleep. I am not someone who has issues with coughing, but I woke up within 20 minutes from coughing nonstop. I turned the baseboard heaters off (obviously, light switch UP = off) to avoid breathing in the God-knows-what was coming out of the baseboard and my cough subsided, but at the cost of being cold all night. Long story short, neither of us slept and both felt sick after we left. I can only speak for room # 115 and the unprofessional front desk staff, however I would absolutely never stay here ever again. Do yourself a favor and find a different hotel.

I have never in my life witnessed worst customer service then I have at the Blackstone Lodge. My husband and I had them lie to our face about the rate we were paying (even after we confirmed it over the phone and at check-in 3separate times), no concern for us having gnats in our bed and me waking up with hives, and then quickly yelled at us when we brought up concerns and wanting a refund. The front desk lady started informing ME about why I was upset- not asking, telling me and then even told me I only booked 2 days ago when I actually booked 3 months ago. She even went as far as to tell me I wouldn’t be getting a refund but should go get another hotel-and couldn’t understand why I couldn’t just throw-away $400 and go spend another $400 at a different place. I don’t care about mistakes happening- that’s life- but when a customer brings up a valid concern and then is yelled at and told to be LYING and making things up?! Absolutely not. We were in town for a wedding and unfortunately more than 1/2 of the people attending the wedding had issues with reservations being canceled, rates being changed and rooms being dirty. Save yourself the money, itchy skin and heartache and go stay somewhere else.

My Boyfriend and I have stayed at the Blackstone on three separate occasions, it's never been great but this last stay was completely unacceptable. We drove 9 hours and just wanted to relax amc enjoy being in Deadwood/Lead. The first thing I noticed when we went to our room was that the door to the connecting room was propped open and that the television volume was really loud. It seemed odd at 9pm. The room smelled musty and the ventilation system didn't work and the window was a ridiculous hassle to get open, but I was tired and I just wanted to get settled and get some rest. Once we got all of our things in the room we realized that the furniture was worn and the room was just in poor condition over all. Again, we both just wanted to relax so we kind of let it go and decided to go down to the hot tubs which were a huge part of why we chose to stay there instead of in Deadwood proper. As we left our room we noticed that the connecting room door was still propped open and the television was still on and very loud. It's 11pm by now which is inconsiderate and very strange. I knocked on the door and called out loudly, with the dwindling hope that the guest wasn't going to keep us awake all night. No one responded. When we made our way down to the hot tubs only one tub was on, it was barely warm. We were still trying to make the best of it and relax after our long day. The first thing we noticed was the slime that coated the entire inside of the hot tub, it was thick and disgusting,. It very clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time. There was no chlorine smell and there was a layer of scum floating on the top that caused us both to jump out of the tub and run back to our room to shower. At this point I'm disappointed and disgusted by the whole situation. Street my shower I went to try to speak to the guest in the next room and ask them to turn their TV down and honestly make sure that they were OK. I knocked and called out and then finally pushed the door open. The room was trashed. They're was food garbage and beer cans everywhere. The bed sheets were strung across the room and couch, it looked like a room that was being recycled as a party spot. I returned to my room and I was ready to leave. I had spoken to the man in the lobby that apparently worked there and he had an excuse for every single concern but no solutions. He was unkempt and smelled terrible. Around 3am I had repacked all of our things and was in the lobby and ready to leave. I had no faith that the bed was clean and I had no desire to ever get back into the vats of human soup that they advertised as relaxing hot tubs. I told the dirty man that I'd like to check out and have my charges refunded. He insisted that he couldn't do that. He argued with me about the condition of the room even though I took photos and video. We were offered two other rooms. We accepted the third one with the assurance that we would be able to talk to the manager later in the morning, cancel our second night and discuss having our first night refunded. Later that day I went to the lobby and was told that the manager was on vacation for ten days and wouldn't be available to talk to us. Managers don't go on vacation for ten days and not notify the staff. We lost our entire first day due to the disgusting conditions and the dishonesty of the staff, packing and moving dealing with filth etc. No sleep! I will be filing a fraud claim with my bank, a complaint with the health department and strongly recommending that my friends and family stay elsewhere. I have never had such a disgusting experience at any hotel. From the hygiene of the staff to the hot tub, everything was disgusting. There are way too many beautiful, clean and accommodating hotels in Deadwood that are a great value and have hot tubs that won't make you sick. DON'T STAY AT THE...

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! It was the worst experience we have ever had. We stayed here three years ago and it was a good experience. Now, it is awful. Was told management has changed recently. They are short staffed (only one person usually running the whole place) and putting minimal effort into everything. Bad from the start with the computer system being down and not getting our key cards for a couple hours. Pulled back the sheets and found a ton of black hair, dirt, and crumbs in the sheets, on the mattress pad and mattress protector. There was even black hair inside the pillow cases! We asked for the sheets to be changed. Waited an hour and it still didn't happen. Had to walk downstairs and then walk with someone up to the fourth floor to get a new set of sheets. Later, we learned that this was the same staff member that drives the shuttle! Housekeeping and the front desk were not helpful. The room itself was also dirty. The carpet was gross. There was trash behind our night stand, bed frame, and under the bed. A layer of dirt covered most surfaces. Found a large spider on the wall. The sheets, comforter, and towels were all stained. Felt itchy the whole time we were in our room. The air conditioner and bathroom fan were so loud it was almost unbearable. After the first night, we wanted to leave and asked for a refund on our next two nights. They had already charged my card for the full price of our stay (three nights). We were told that they could not give us a refund per policy. We kept asking for a manager. There never was one. Was told they were at a conference. Got the manager's number and they never answered. Voicemail was always full. Also, when we cashed out some winning tickets from the bar poker machine, the front desk clerk didn't give us all of our money then tried to argue with us! We sat in the hot tub and immediately felt that it was slimy. The lighting in the room was very dark. The bathroom was very small. The room desperately needs updated. The breakfast is not edible. The bar area is rarely open and not even worth spending money at. It was overall a horrible experience. As we were getting ready to leave, I pulled up the sheets to put them into a laundry pile, and saw the same dirt and food crumb pile under the fitted sheet. They had just put new sheets on over the dirt! Again, do not stay here. Other guests we talked to during our stay had similar complaints but in addition had issues with the shuttle not picking them up in Deadwood and the promised rates not being honored. Noticed laundry sitting in the hallway for hours and the same trash we saw on arrival was still there when we left three days later. Do not give this establishment one more dollar. They do not care about their customers. All they want...
