Five stars! TL;DR stay here, not at a chain hotel.
This motel is beautifully-run by a nice family. Clean, updated and welcoming. The room is lovely and comfortable, very modern. The outdoor pool is well cared for, with towels on hand. There is a lovely seating area near the river with a fire pit that they welcomed us to use. Nicely watered lawn, LED lights by the pool. Everything is nearby.
Let me deal with the obvious: It is a small, 60s era motel. You may not realize that this is a good thing. In this day and age, it is easy to overlook the charms of motels in favor of economy chain hotels. We almost did ("Dad,why aren't we staying over there?"). But this is better, and I'll tell you why.
First, the rooms are quite large. In this double room, there are five chairs a table, a desk, and a bureau. Each is a and each is a standalone cabin, so no neighbor noise.
Second is the parking: my car is 10 feet away from where I sit. Remember that motel is a portmanteau word of motor+hotel, designed to cater the rise of motor tourism. The idea is you park near your room. I'm still a motor tourist. The rise of medium-sized economy hotels has imposed inconveniences that I had not noticed until I checked back into this motel.
Lastly, to support small business: the young family that runs this place, this is their livelihood. I feel good that my vacation dollars are going to them instead of to the shareholders of a huge corporation. And they are really nice, and take pride in their establishment.
This morning, my kids are saying this is where we should come back to. When I told them I was writing this review, they said I should give...
Read moreI stayed at the motel for two nights for the July 4th weekend. It's a small unassuming motel from the outside but I was really impressed with the room. The room was very spacious, the bed and all amenities were comfortable and very clean and smell good.
We had a large family picnic on their lawn and the owner Dev came out to make sure we had everything we need and had his father helped us set up additional picnic tables for us and remove trash afterward. I was very impressed with the personal family touch and they were great people. They're so polite and friendly and made us feel very comfortable and welcoming. It's just what you would expect from a small family owned business who put their heart and soul into it.
My kids enjoyed the pool and nearby river, and I really enjoyed the the picturesque view from the motel. While there we visited Clark's Trading post which is just about 5-6 minutes away from the place. We visited Echo Lake, the Basin, and took the Canon Mountain's Tramway. We regularly go to town in Lincoln so everything is so close and convenient.
Overall I am very happy with my experience and highly...
Read moreThe staff was very polite, accommodations were sufficient. It's not a 5-star motel but it is clean and the management/owners will work with you to help you if needed. I recently stayed there and booked for 2 nights. For those knocking the place for being old, it is but I figure that I'm only sleeping there and not living out of the room. The bed was comfortable/new and there were plenty of outlets to plug the phone chargers into.
Due to pending rain, my trip was cut short (on a motorcycle). BOOKING.com originally stated that no refund would be given for cancellations and that cancellations would be $305, but the owner stated that they would waive the 2nd-night charges and refund me once BOOKING.com contacted them. I reached out to BOOKING.com and they confirmed with the owners. Fee refunded.
This is the 2nd time that I have stayed at this motel, with the 1st being about 10 years ago. No issues with either stay which is why I booked this time. Definitely will...
