4.5 Stars This was my first stay at this quaint little motel with a great location. When checking in and out, the clerk (owner?) was very friendly. He even provided plastic utensils when I discovered none to be found in my takeout dinner. There was a coffee station available at all times in the office, but I didn't partake, so I can't speak to its quality, just its presence. The room itself had a TV, microwave, small fridge, chair, and a queen bed with the type of quilt you'd expect at Grandma's, not super luxurious but nice enough. Everything seemed clean, but the outlet placement did leave something to be desired. The bathroom seemed recently renovated, with a nice-looking tile wall in the bath area, a modern sink, and new-looking floor. Here, too, everything seemed very clean--even the frame around the little window was pristine. The water pressure in the shower was great! Unfortunately, while there was a rubber stopper provided, the tub was very shallow, too shallow for me to consider a bath. The water was also slow to drain, causing a little back-up. Similarly, the built-in stopper in the sink didn't have a mechanism for raising or lowering it. It got stuck in the closed position a couple times (had to pry it back open with that plastic spoon I mentioned earlier), but even in the open position, the sink was slow to drain, resulting in some back-up. Also, the towels were not the highest quality. Overall, while the drain issues were a slight annoyance, I loved the location, friendliness, and cleanliness of this stay and would...
Read moreFront desk/owner was SUPER nice, and knowledgeable about the area. They have a nice Keurig in the office, which we used a few times. The pool is set back from the road which we liked, we looked at the hotel across the street and noticed their pool was right against the main road. The room itself was bigger than any other hotel room we've stayed in. We are a family of 5 (with one little one) and had plenty of room for our stuff and room to spread out. The bedding was a nice and clean and felt homey, other than the dust ruffles which are hard to keep looking neat. I had to fix them because my OCD wouldn't let me leave them bunched up and hanging on the floor lol.
Access is super easy since it's all one level, we had no issue parking.
Our only issue was that we were in the corner of the "L" (shape of the building) and the neighbor adjacent to us smoked cigarettes basically right outside of our window because that's where his seat was outside of his room. We tried to leave the windows open for fresh air but had to close them when the smell of cigarettes was coming in non stop. Next time I'll just request a room that isn't in that corner.
The grounds were tidy and clean, the bathrooms were nice and updated. Overall we loved our stay.
Hands down we would (and will)...
Read moreWe stayed in one of the rooms facing the road. The rooms are incredibly well sound-proofed so we didn't hear anything from other rooms or outside. There is a nice little porch area outside the door to sit at and enjoy the view and the fresh air. The owners are amazing, VERY friendly. 24 hour coffee & ice available in the office (big plus for me). Room was immaculate, comfy beds. Beautiful tub/shower. A nice alternative to the chains this is more reminiscent of the mom & pop motels we'd stay in when I was young but clearly updated and remodeled. Parking spots are a bit small but it's my fault for brining my big old SUV up there, managed to squeeze it in though. Budget friendly allowing us to stay an extra night which was perfect. Great location for traveling anywhere in Lincoln/Franconia, Sugar Hill, White Mountains area and the Kanc' of course. Would happily go up there again even in off season just for a place to relax and get out for a...
