First, I must make clear that I do not work for this property, I do not work for this brand of hotel, nor do I work for any IHG brand of hotels. I do however, have eight years in the hospitality industry and along with my girlfriend, we have a combined fifteen years in the industry.
Why does any of this make a difference? We have been fortunate enough to stay at many hotels throughout our current tenures and this hotel ranks head and shoulders above many in terms of service, comfort and cleanliness.
The location is perfect - easy on/easy off access from 430. It sits in a location surrounded by a major car dealership and a few retail stores.
What helps make the location perfect is how quiet it is. With a lightly used road running behind the hotel which bumps up against the woods, having a room on the backside of the hotel is great. The only noises we heard (which were not often) were other room doors closing.
The room itself (standard king leisure suite) was very spacious. While reviewing the property online, the photos looked as though there was plenty of room however, photos can be misleading at times. Nothing misleading here. There was plenty of space for our 21-month old to run around and play without getting bored. While most hotel rooms have inefficient lighting, this one does not. A total of six lamps plus the overhead light above the entrance.
A nice feature of the room was the "refreshment area" if you will, complete with a sink, microwave and mini-fridge. This mini-fridge was THE BEST of any hotel we have stayed at. It was already nice and cool and the thermostat was easily accessible! Our beverages stayed chilled properly throughout our visit. There is also plenty of space within the cabinets which was an added bonus.
Speaking of cabinets, the bathroom was so spacious and the sink area was well detailed, having plenty of storage area for towels. Something interesting we noticed was up underneath the facial tissue dispenser, there seemed to be a vent which could be open/closed. Sometimes it blew out warm air, other times cool air. We thought it was designed to perhaps keep fresh air flowing throughout.
There was adequate lighting in the bathroom (great night light) and the water pressure on Sunday morning was POWERFUL! I am most thankful that the shower head is mounted high - I'm 6'4 and a lot of shower heads sit too low for me. There was also plenty of hot water with no wait to warm up.
If you thought it couldn't get better, it does - the bed was without doubt, the most comfortable we have ever slept on outside of our own mattress. The comforter was cozy and the soft & firm choices for pillows were PERFECT. I think we are going to purchase a few of these for our house!
For those wondering about the internet connection, do not worry. We were able to steam "Paw Patrol" on my laptop for our son without any problem whatsoever. Fast, good signal strength and never any buffering. We utilized the HDMI connection on the razor thin LED HDTV to hookup our laptop so we could all sit on the couch and watch TV together as a family.
Unfortunately, we did not get to use the pool as planned but we did make a quick stop to the breakfast area before checkout. There were many options such as a pancake station, eggs, biscuits & gravy, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, sausage (turkey and pork) and my favorite...CINNAMON ROLLS! We had a cinnamon roll, biscuits & gravy, turkey sausage and some eggs - all were hot and delicious!
As you can tell, we found nothing but perfection in this hotel. This was our first time to stay at this property and we will most definitely stay again next time we visit Little Rock. Thanks to all of the staff for an excellent stay. We will see...
Read moreI would like to say this hotel before this stay has been the only hotel my family stays at when we come to Little Rock area. After this stay we will not be returning to this hotel again. It started off when we checked in the two employees didn’t seem to care to much about me checking in they wanted to hold a personal conversation while checking me in. Once we got settled in I pulled the fold out couch for my son and found it broke. Called down to see if they could fix it or place us in another room and was told she would have to call the manager. Hour later my wife went down to check on what we could do. At that time the employee said she couldn’t call the management due to him being in class and had no rooms available for us to switch. Told the employee my son needed a bed to sleep in, she called us back 20 mins later offering a room next to elevator. Due to noise issues we have had in the past sleeping by the elevator we declined. Asked her to make sure it was fixed the next day and had my son sleep on couch. We left for the day and came back thinking our issue would be fixed but of course it wasn’t. I wanted to talk to a manager and of course none was available again on a Friday and Saturday night. After telling the employee about our problem The employee helped 3 other people check in and once they all left acted like we weren’t there. I had to ask her again if she was going to call the manager cause we didn’t want to have to move all our things. Of course the only option was move to another room. So we had to load up our our things and move to another room so my son didn’t have to sleep again on the couch. This hotel needs new maintenance and management. I wasn’t the only person having issues with things in their rooms. They meet my demands on what to do to make it up to us but I shouldn’t have had to demand anything if the would have just fixed the issue they said they would fix. Although this stay makes me a spire elite member of ihg. My family and I will not stay at this hotel again and hope you work on employee relations and very poor management...
Read moreThis hotel is a great property in a good location. Rooms are very comfortable and the front desk staff were great.
Having said that, we had a far from good experience with breakfast. My son, like most of us, always enjoys the cinnamon rolls at Holiday Express locations. Of course the remainder of the breakfast selections are usually wonderful also. We came down for breakfast at 9:05 to find many of the items we expected to not be present. There were empty trays where the cinnamon rolls used to sit, no gravy for the 3 biscuits that remained and very little eggs left over. The person in charge of breakfast was busy in the prep room sealing up more eggs apparently for the next morning. She did not come out and greet us and ask us if we needed anything, like the majority of the Holiday Inn Express staff does when we go to breakfast. Breakfast didn't end until 9:30, so we didn't expect to find it in this condition. So we ate what we could find and while eating, at 9:20, the breakfast person came out and turned off all of the heat lamps and then immediately returned to her prep room. We finished and I took the trash to the receptacle, which is next to the prep room, to see her now looking down playing with her phone. Needless to say, we were very disappointed in this whole breakfast experience and did not even attempt it the next morning.
I do not believe that it should be difficult to find the breakfast selections that you want at 9:05 when it doesn't end until 9:30.
Otherwise this hotel is a great place to stay and hope that if we are back through the area and stay here again, it will be a better...
