Just completed a 2 night stay. This is a brand new hotel that opened in June 2020. I travel frequently staying at hotels throughout California and Nevada.
The area this hotel sits in is a new development of stores, homes, and apartments that was farm crops until recently.
Check in staff were very friendly and professional. Pool and spa in the rear of the hotel are a good size but offer no shade from the sun. No grown trees, no umbrellas or tables but plenty of lounge chairs. I stayed at the Fairfield Inn and suites in Turlock several times so I expected the Lodi location to be somewhat similar but it isn’t. The restrooms are large however the King room was honestly the smallest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. Closet is a narrow shelf cabinet with one side dedicated to the mini fridge, coffee maker, and microwave in a compact look. The Turlock location offered much larger rooms with a dedicated sitting area and sofa. This hotel offers suites which are a tad larger with a separate sitting area but the price is substantially more. Furniture in all guest rooms is very simple and basic - easy to keep clean. Housekeeping do a great job however they don’t come until the later afternoon if you’re staying more than one night. Wi-Fi is free and fast with great signal. Breakfast is not currently being offered due to COVID-19 so a grab and go bag of cereal and muffins can be requested. A small pantry next to the front desk provides a limited selection of beverages for sale but no energy drinks! There is an exercise room on site currently open but unfortunately I forgot to stop by for pictures of it. I believe there is also meeting rooms that can be rented out on the ground floor. One elevator is on site and went out of order on the morning of check out. I recommend ground floor if you cannot climb stairs in the event the elevator breaks down again. Costco, Subway, Five Guys, Burger King and Sprouts (healthy foods) market are across the street. Starbucks is also across the way but don’t rely on the hours posted by Google.
I come to Lodi visit friends and family since I moved away a few years ago. My favorite hotel is still the Holiday Inn Express due to all the rooms being large and offering a separate sofa sitting area, indoor pool, and cheaper pricing. The Lodi Fairfield Inn and Suites small rooms are why I rate 4 stars. I would return again but pay for the suite. Another new hotel option recently opened in Lodi last fall is the Candlewood Inn and suites next door to Holiday Inn - but again the Holiday Inn wins on room size, amenities, and pricing.
Things I forgot to mention above are that the beds are comfortable but more on the firm side. There is no long body mirror in the rooms. TV allows for streaming and casting. Lastly, the thermostat is annoying not allowing a constant fan option and if you kick the AC up a degree or more than the current room temperature, it triggers the heater..there is no AC or Heat option - it just kicks on either one based on your desired temperature and it’s sensor operated so it may not run while you sleep. As the hotel reply states, this is mandatory requirement to reduce energy...
Read moreThis is a beautiful new hotel in Lodi centrally located near many of the wineries, and walking distance from some stores such as Costco, Starbucks and Five Guys. Fairfield Inn is a value brand from Marriotts Bonvoy suite of properties and as such you will find just the essential amenities here including a gym, pool and a hot tub. Breakfast is served downstairs for free in the morning and they just resumed offering a few made to order items like omelettes and bacon. I did not try the breakfast because we were always on the go but it looked pretty basic and you can’t beat the price. There is a small market onsite with some local Lodi wines available for purchase and other essentials such as snacks and water. The gym is fairly good sized for a Fairfield and had a great selection of dumbbells and other equipment including 2 elliptical and 3 treadmill. Unfortunately they do not have any spin bicycles here which is a huge disappointment as most Bonvoy properties have added at least one Peloton to their workout room. They have the old school “life cycle” recumbent bike. Due to covid protocols only 2 “rooms” are allowed in the gym at a time and you have to ask the front desk to let you in. This may have changed since our original stay in May 2021, but when coming back in May 2022, they still required someone at the front desk to let you into the gym. ||||The standard rooms are pretty small, but the bathroom is on the larger size, the beds are fairly comfortable and the place is relatively quiet. Visiting the property one year later after my original review (which I forgot to post), the hotel is kept up well and they are doing a good job maintaining it. They are no longer doing Paul Mitchell products, but the ones they replaced it with are superior in my opinion and I like that they have the big bottles wall mounted in the shower to avoid plastic waste. There's a microwave and a mini fridge in the room which are always nice for longer stays. ||||I don't feel the price warrants the quality level of the property, although it does vary quite a bit depending on when you stay, I always used my Bonvoy points and appreciated the lower category level.||||Parking is free, although they do ask you to put a pass on the front of your car so they know you're staying at the hotel. The hotel is located next to a property that appears to eventually be having construction, but one year later they still haven't built anything, just FYI in case the construction does start.||||Everything in Lodi wine country is located just minutes away from this property so you're sure to enjoy your wine tasting without excessive driving back to the hotel (or maybe cheaper Ubers if you...
Read moreThis is a very nice, newer hotel close to other conveniences such as a Sprouts Grocery store, a Chilpotle, a Costco and quick Freeway access. The rooms are very nice, as one might expect from a Marriott Hotel Chain property. My room was equipped with a very spacious desk with plenty of charging ports and electrical plugs, a microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker. At first l could not locate my closet, because it was around the corner from the microwave area but once I discovered it, I found it was more than adequate. The luxurious bathroom was located just inside the door in the hallway, but a sign indicated to keep the bathroom door closed. The extra towels were on a recessed shelf below the sink area and there also was a hairdryer supplied, as well. I brought my swimming suit but did not use their pool, so l can’t really comment on that facility. Also, because of Covid-19, their dining area was closed, but they did offer a to-go bag (available at the front desk) of breakfast items such as a bagel or muffin, cereal & mini-milk and a self-serve area for coffee or tea to go. The staff is very friendly and the hotel was clean - for travelers wary of staying places during the Pandemic. Were l to ever be traveling to Lodi again, or this part of the Central Valley, l would whole-heartedly consider being a repeat guest. Folks of my age group might be caught, as l was, humming the Credence Clearwater Revival song from 1969: “Oh Lord, I’m stuck in Lodi Again” but I am certain that this Hotel does not represent that era, or the low-life & down-trodden character as depicted in the song. (Never-the-less, you know how a tune just gets in your brain and sticks, like a broken record (a vinyl disc that preceded cassettes, CD’s or MP-3’s for you younger folks) so I’ll admit that l hummed it for several days...
