The location of Grandview is beautiful. The venue itself was fine. My pictures were beautiful in the bridal suite upstairs and the ambience in the evening on the terrace is warm and inviting. Please understand my poor rating is because of the wedding coordinator that works for the venue. You do not have to chose her for wedding coordinator services, so please learn from my mistake and chose an outside service.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE whatever you do, do not use Breanna Lingerfelt as your day of coordinator. Her services of day-of-coordinator were a total of $500 and it was a complete waste of my time and money. Please find a wedding planner/coordinator outside of her. Grandview requires you to have a day of coordinator so please invest your money in someone not Breanna Lingerfelt. My husband and I spent hours of time to buy, to organize and to pack all the decor needed for wedding day. We rented a uhaul trailer to pack all the items, thinking this would not only allow the venue easier access to items, but also would allow the staff an easier time to pack the items at the end of the night. All boxes were labeled with the location that those items were to be placed. And all the boxes were left in the uhaul trailer untouched and unopened. She completely fumbled my entire wedding decor setup. The venue does not help to decorate the arbor so be aware either your family, designated person or florist will be responsible for decorating so my sisters ended up decorating the entire ceremony space. Breanna and her team only had to decorate the cake room, welcome table and reception tables which were all subpar at best (because ALL the decor was left in the uhaul trailer). Brief list of items left in the trailer that were purchased for the wedding, but left in the trailer include: 200 candles that I brought to the venue (only 96 made it onto the tables), card box, my sign in book (with additional film, pens, tape, floral items for table and candles), my pizza wedding favor sign, my bar sign with all the drinks choices and the dance floor glow lights.
Breanna and I had a total of 3 meetings (1 in person and 2 zoom meetings) where I specifically went over everything I wanted and planned to bring on wedding day. We discussed plans for wedding day the Friday before so I am unsure how she completely fumbled the wedding as bad as she did.
Phrases that were heard from either guests or my family on wedding day from Breanna, “this is a complete disaster” (referring to the entire wedding reception because of the rain? But it did not rain?) and “honestly it doesn’t even matter” (referring to the bubble machine for the bubble exit because her and her assistant couldn’t get it to work). The running theme of the evening quickly turned to “where is Breanna?” My photographer and DJ asked me this at least 3 times during the reception.
Breanna was not accommodating to either myself or my husband. Rain was forecasted for our Saturday wedding. I was forced to pick either having a tent for my wedding on the Monday before. I begged to wait longer to decide on tent and was given until Tuesday. The choice was either no tent at all or yes to a tent and it was for sure going to be up (no matter how the weather changed). It sprinkled a few times while I was getting ready, but it did not rain AT ALL during the ceremony or during the reception. She was very insensitive to how I felt about the tent changing the ambiance of the ceremony.
After the wedding and after the honeymoon, I contacted Breanna and voiced all of these concerns and asked to speak with her supervisor. I was contacted by the COO, Greg. He tried his best to remedy the situation, but the damage was done. There is no going back in time to fix these small details that ultimately make the wedding personable. I think for me personally, at the end of the day, my goal in my review is ensuring that her services are never used again and ensuring that another bride’s wedding is not ruined like mine; especially considering the costs I paid to...
Read moreGrandview is a gorgeous and romantic venue. The Tudor-style house and two terraces boast a beautiful aesthetic, and the view is amazing. The food we had was nice, though a little bland as event food tends to be. The food options were still lovely. Event staff were nice and quiet throughout the reception.
We worked with Venisha from Cloud 9 Events as my day-of-coordinator (required to have one by Grandview), First Verse Productions as my DJ, and Kaitlyn with Vintage Kaitlyn Photography for my photographer. All were amazing, attentive, and had great personalities.
The wedding turned out amazing, but I there are a few issues we had. We got married 11/9/24. Throughout the four months leading up, our main contact with Grandview was Breanna Lingerfelt. While a relatively kind lady, she was difficult to get in contact with. Our coordinator Venisha also had a hard time getting in contact with her. Sometimes we would go two weeks or more between hearing back from our last email. I had to be doubly careful about the event contract as she would not update the number of linens needed or other small details unless I pointed them out directly, despite discussing numbers ahead of time.
Day before the wedding, during our rehearsal, we ventured over to the reception balcony to show our families the space. A Rock City Employee told us that they were setting up for our wedding the next day. We special ordered chairs and a bench for our sweetheart table (confirmed on the event contract) that were not set-up, or even delivered! I can acquiesce that this may have been by some fault of the vendor Grandview ordered from, however, there was no communication to us by Grandview and if we had not caught that worker, we would have had no one to communicate with to get ahold of Breanna or anyone to fix the situation. We were told the chairs would be arriving day-of instead of before, but everything should be set up properly.
Day of the wedding, we were told we had the venue from 12:00PM to 10:00PM. This is a reasonable timeline, however, my husband and I were under the impression that Grandview staff would have all the linens, centerpieces (we rented some centerpieces from Grandview), and plates/silverware would be set up by the time we got there. We believed we would have a leisurely hour or so setting up our last few details before taking our time to get dressed. This was not the case. Grandview staff did not start setting up until 1:30PM which meant that we couldn't get started on any decor that went on tables, including guestbook tables or the cards/gifts table. On top of that, the wrong bench was at our sweetheart table. (Again, this may be a fault of the vendor Grandview uses, I am not sure.)
By all miracles, we got everything done in time. Venisha and her assistant, Faith, hustled to get everything done. Luckily, I and the other women in my wedding party had all but completed our hair and makeup before arriving at the venue. Had we not, we would have ended up starting the ceremony late.
Everything was a blast and we had an amazing time thanks to the rest of...
