My family and I enjoyed the pool. The pool has pool chairs, fence around the pool, step ladders around the pool and it goes from 3 feet deep to at least 9 feet deep. We also enjoyed the apartment, which is the 2nd and 3rd floors of the main building. My brother and his wife purchased the apartment which had a kitchen and living room on the 2nd floor and the 3rd floor had bedrooms where my brother and his children stayed while we were here. The front desk and housekeeping personnel were all nice, friendly and accommodating. The first night, I saw and spoke to their security detail, which looked like he could be a police officer. Rooms were cleaned by housekeeping between 9 and 10am and they were trustworthy too because my wife left her expensive wedding and engagement rings out in the night stand and felt confident and comfortable that the housekeeping personnel will not take them. She was right, they did not. This motel was an excellent location to drive to numerous restaurants, stores, Luray Caverns and Pack's Frozen Custard (ice cream) in New Market, Virginia. Nice balcony which has access to the rooms next door on the same floor. My family and I stayed in 201, 202, 203 and 204, on the 2nd floor in our building. There is also a door to access the room next door. The window and balcony allows you to see the mountains behind the motel. Very very nice! The Wi-Fi was excellent, signed in once on devices and stayed connected during the entire stay. A/C kept the room cool and worked great. Two beds in the room suited us just fine. The small refrigerator froze our drinks since we turned it to the max setting and kept our drinks frozen even after we changed the setting to something less than the max setting. The cost was affordable. Did not care for the wasp occasionally entering our room throughout our stay and then seeing the wasp nest on the wall on our balcony.

It was not my first choice of places to stay, but it was the only place that had a room available for that night. It was convenient as far as being right across the road from the caverns and other activities. It was clean. Didn't see any bed bugs, thank goodness!!! Had a balcony room, but can't comment on the view as it was a gloomy day/night. The bed wasn't too bad, but I was pretty exhausted from the caverns. Lol Overall, it's old and a little outdated, but it got us through our one night stop over on our way to the beach. Cons were the walls were thin enough you could hear your neighbors talking and due to it being a motel, you hear a lot of car doors and people talking outside. Take a fan to drown out the noise. :) If you think you hear wind chimes, be sure to check out the singing tower across the road. It only plays at certain times and you don't want to miss it like I did. :(

If you’re looking for luxury, then plan on Mimslyn or Laurance for 2-3x as much. If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, and safe room with more modest amenities, this place is worth checking out. I can’t speak for every room, but our experience was quite good. Beds were comfortable, room was clean, and the AC worked well. Decor was a bit dated, as a few other reviews have mentioned, but I’m not sure what people are expecting from a cavern adjacent motel. We got the balcony, which was nice to sit out and look at the mountain range over the tree line, but the balconies are all connected, which seemed a little odd.

Absolutely FIVE STARS....for the right family. We are a family of four. We decided to try Luray East due to its price. Well we were pleasantly surprised with the motel experience this place provided. The first first smile on my face came when I was handed the key. It was a new "retro" motel key chain with an actual door key. I LOVE IT. Next we check out the room. It is as expected, expect absolutely clean. The beds were comfy and the air conditioner was already running. The room was cool. The views. Out of the front door you can seen the bell tower that has a recital on most days. don't waste your time walking over, just enjoy it from the front door. The patio overlooks a small rolling field with mountainous views in the near distance. The field was active with wildlife at both dusk and dawn. The shower was hot and powerful, enough said, right? The pool is beautiful, clean, and ICE cold in late June. If you are from an area that is use to cold water, or come later in the year it will be amazing. At checkout we asked for a breakfast spot, and we were not disappointed with the recommendation. Oh, there are some pretty cool caverns nearby if you are interested in that type of stuff. And staying here will save you money that you will desperately need once you go into the shops at Luray.

Some downsides for those that care about such things. It is obvious the walls are wallpaper covering concrete block. It looks fine, but you can tell. The doors on the front and the patio still have the vents from yesteryear but have been covered by translucent piece to help keep down energy costs. The "private" patios are divided by a concrete wall but there is a gap between that wall and the rail, so it would be easy to slip from patio to patio, so be sure to lock the patio door...

Stayed here while in Luray for a weekend wedding. This motel's quality lies in its customer service, starting when I reserved the room via phone a few weeks in advance, and solidified at check-in and throughout the stay. Genuinely nice, caring staff who would go out of their way to do anything for me and my family to make us feel at home. The decor of the rooms hasn't been refreshed in quite some time, but given the cost of that endeavor compared to the low price to stay, one can't really blame them. What they do have, they do well with. Rooms were very clean. Temperature was well controlled. We felt very secure. No noises heard from the rooms on either side of ours. The view out back isn't what I would have called a mountain view myself, but nice greenery and we saw a wild rabbit hopping by and nibbling grass one evening. There is no mini fridge. No iron or ironing board but the front desk staff gladly provided those both for me. Again-- this place excels on service, and they're ready and willing to make sure you have a great time in Luray. Not for the elite but a...
