I have been visiting the Luray Fudge Company since it opened 25 years ago and I lived in the DC area. I would invite friends to drive up to the Shenandoah NP but really it was to get the fudge. The fudge is the best in the world or at least the 54 countries I've been to. The fudge is so creamy. All the flavors are delicious (maple, vanilla, peanut buter but I will always be a chocolate girl. The fudge beats out European chocolate! I moved to CA and don't get there as often as I like but every time I'm in town; I call Eric (owner) ahead of time and he makes sure my favorite will be on hand when I arrive. He is super friendly and so is the staff. The last time I went it, I didn't tell the staff my name as they had plenty of fudge in the case, but they knew it was me when I told them my order as Eric asked them to make sure they put mine aside if they were running low. I assume this fudge was made with confectioners sugar, because that's all we could taste. The peanut butter version (the only one that held its form in the photo) tasted like overly-sweet filling for buckeyes. I go in there all the time specially just to get their sweet treats and the workers are always willing to get you anything you need and if they cant get you what you need they are more then happy to find some that can help you.
