I spent two nights at the Hampton Inn & Suites during a Badger Game weekend in Madison. I lived in Madison for 12 years, so this added traffic is welcome, and not a bother. The hotel, like most in the City, were full to capacity. The hotel did not feel "overly full"; staff, elevators, parking and breakfast were all good despise being at room capacity.
The first floor lounge is very comfortable, modern yet classic design, with TVs, good seating and variety of seating, fireplaces, ability to gather but was not loud.
I stayed in a two-queen suite with my parents, wife and two kids (4 adults, 2 children). Although it is all in one room, plus one bathroom, there was sufficient space for all of us to be comfortable. Being a new facility, everything is new and found no wear.
There is on-site structured parking, which is nice to be out of the elements, and not have to find parking elsewhere (although there are multiple City ramps within 2 blocks).
The beds were much more stiff than I prefer, and the pillows were very flat. This resulted in not very good sleep quality for me, but the rest of my family was fine.
The breakfast was good, but not exceptional. Eggs and sausages; waffles; selection of pastries; fruit; yogurt cups. There is also an on-site restaurant, which we did not visit.
I did not personally use the pool, but my wife and kids found it to be heated and enjoyable.
The location is very good. It is only two blocks from State Street, and less than 10 minute walk from each the Capital and Capital Square area as well as UW Campus. There are several bus routes that go right by in either direction, so very easy to get around.
Service was good, nothing notably good or bad.
Overall my experience at the Hampton Inn & Suites was positive and...
Read moreI am so glad we booked this hotel for a few nights in Madison. It's in an amazing location and within walking distance from everything; we did not have to drive anywhere! But more than that, the service, cleanliness, and amenities really stand at in this hotel.
The front desk staff are excellent and answer any questions you may have without making you feel like you're bothering them. They also offered us free water bottles; we declined as we had our own bottles, but it's a nice touch if you've been traveling. In their lobby, they have two large dispensers of ice water (one flavored), and at night, they have a plate of cookies for guests, which is a small but nice touch.
The rooms are simple but exceedingly spacious and clean with all of the usual amenities.
I used the gym both mornings, and there are plenty of cardio and weight machines. It is also very clean and offers guests earphones, water, and towels. We did not use the pool, but it was a nice size and seemed very clean as well.
The breakfast offered lots of options for an included hotel breakfast. I was happy to do my usual Greek yogurt with granola, nuts, and strawberries/blueberries, but there was also sausage, eggs, a waffle making station, cereal, different pastries and breads, oatmeal, and juices. They also have a coffee station near the lobby that is out all day. If you have to leave before breakfast is out, they have grab and go breakfast bags for guests near the lobby.
This hotel was excellent, and I think we will be staying here from now on when we...
Read moreThis is a two star hotel and at first I was weary about staying here. My wife booked it because it was affordable and close to town where we wanted to spend time on this trip. I found out that two star just means that it doesn’t have conference rooms or its own restaurant! To me this is a five-star hotel because the service is the best, the room in the hotel is clean as a whistle, the room is very large with a couch that actually opens to another bed small window with a view of the city. They have a coffee counter with wonderful coffee in cheese 24/7. Small snack shop that offers free waters to its guest. Wide open gathering room downstairs for playing games or meeting up with family members we’re having something to eat like in the morning when they serve their free breakfast. Just get there early because it dwindles as time goes by. Even though the hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant it has one attached to it that you enter from the hotel and it seems like it it’s actually part of the hotel but it’s not. Delicious delicious delicious. And busy! I could’ve eaten here every day and we did mostly. Service and food is A1! Atmosphere is awesome with the bar and very bright. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. Will be looking forward to staying here again because the walk to the Square was very enjoyable and not far. I normally can find one thing that I don’t like about a place but not here and parking is really easy when you just...
