Got ambushed into stying here two nights when we only booked one night. I asked four different staff members, including the person at the front desk, if we could check out late, I had a wound dressing that needed to be changed and we needed to pick up a suit, and change for a wedding. All four staff members we asked were okay with it and never gave us a new time. The next thing I know, the “manager” (the guy always standing by the black Mercedes in the handicapped spot on the phone), comes barging down the walkway and tells me he is charging me for another night and good thing that he has a free room and we can stay there again. He kept asking insisting that I needed to “sign the paper” and that according to the contract I signed that he could charge me for a second night regardless of what I said. Reluctantly, I finally had to sign because he was very aggressive, pushy, and threatening in his demeanor. He then told me he was charging DOUBLE because it’s a Friday night or that he would charge us half and I didn’t have to stay all while refusing to let me leave until I signed the paper he had. He never approached the male I was with. The male I was with approached him and he just walked away. The hot tub, which has been broken for two years has no water in it. Beautiful weather but the pool had all kinds of debris in and on the water and was never cleaned the whole time we were there. So we couldn’t actually use the amenities. The plantation shutters were broken and looks like someone else mentioned this in their reviews. There were lots of “storage” places and the maid carts were always left outside…both presenting safety and OSHA hazards. I have a 2021 4Runner, with a back up camera. The drive way was narrow and scrapes the side of your vehicle because it’s small and the bushes haven’t been cut back. It’s basically a one way and you have to back out or do an awkward “Austin Powers” 3-point turn. It seems like all of the clippings on the ground are from cars brushing against it. Service was patchy to nonexistent, when you could find someone. The TV shows kept stopping and restarting making it difficult to actually watch a show. The was rust in the bathroom and we had to ask for new towels. Our room was never serviced, which also means no coffee. No breakfast. As far as the beach goes, you do have to cross a busy street and drive down to it. You could walk but again it’s a very busy street. Pictures included for verification and fun. Stay somewhere else.

Tiny, squeaky, outdated room with no proper heating. One ceiling mounted heater/ac unit which took about 6 hours to properly heat the room. Wife was freezing the entire time. Besides the floors being squeaky they also curled up in some areas due to moisture maybe being trapped in the room. The shower/bathroom was so badly designed that after every shower the water would drip down from the walls and mirror and the entire floor would be wet and slippery, and on top of that no floor mats, nor hangers for face towels. The only hanger they had was one on the door itself which was covered with other people’s hair. Mold in the corners everywhere. Didn’t even want to hang my towel on a hook that’s how gross I found this place. The pool was so disgusting and dirty too. The palm trees dropping little pellets everywhere made it another hazard. We all got woken up Thursday morning by their Gardner mowing grass for 45 min outside our room, and Friday morning by the smell of Terpentin from the painters doing work on the property. Now if this wasn’t enough already, after bringing up all our concerns to the staffs attention. We were just told to wait for the manager. Instead of just sending someone to check the heater, clean the room, possibly switch rooms (which wouldn’t have made a difference), give us a floor mat, they just said, we can’t let you cancel early. The next morning we finally get to meet the manager. He just took out a piece of paper and started explaining how Expedia takes 23% of this booking, y yada yada yada, but interestly enough drove a matted out TeslaX which I personally know as a Tesla owner is an additional $5000 feature. But he wouldn’t release the room, even though we clearly stated we would be checking out on time. I’m not a fussy person in the slightest. I’ve been to youth hostels cleaner than this place, and for the price of $285 a night I can assure everyone there are really nice luxury boutique hotels up the street in Santa Monica. Leave this place to the rich Malibu guys who take their mistresses and flusies out here to have a naughty night.

POWER SHORTAGE AND DONT EVEN GET MATCHES FOR THE C!

READ BEFORE BOOKING!!!

So where to start, let’s start with the positives…

Price: it’s cheap in comparison to others especially in Malibu but still expensive for what you get i would say.

Tv: the tv has all channels and even Netflix , Disney you name it. But to be honest your not here for the tv.

Sadly this was the positives. Now let me rant and explain why i give them so little credit.

I stayed here for a total of 3 nights. The first 2 nights where basically meh to summarize it but the third night was horror.

First the Pool: I can’t decide if the pool has „more Sand , leaves , bird feathers , or dead geckos inside of it. I would never go inside that thing.

Second The Walk to the beach: I think a lot of people myself included booked this place for the convince of being that close to the beach. Well if you don’t have problem walking on road while cars are zooming past you then sure walk…

The third night: The was a power shortage at 19:00, or even sooner that’s when I came back to the room. 19:30 i asked if the are fixing it they said „yes“ 20:12 i came and asked how longer it’s going to take because it was getting dark and there was still nothing, Tenor even signal. She said „10 MINUTES“

21:10 I came yet again. To the lobby and to my surprise, she was sleeping in the lobby. She said that she could drive to a place where there was signal 2minutes from here but she would never have done that. How do i know? Because she sat back on the couch in the middle of the conversation and complained how her ankle was hurting. Why are you working the i asked myself?! I said that i wanted a compensation but she didn’t acknowledged my request and wanted to give me One candle and immediately said she doesn’t have matches for it like…WHY ARE YOU OFFERING ME A CANDLE THEN!!! I walked back with the torch on my phone to my room with nothing but frustration paying full price for a room that I can’t even charge phone in or cool my food and drinks, Or turn the light on.

And at 7:30 the next morning I’ve got woken up by fricking jet engine of a leaf blower that was waking up everybody. They had really the gardeners at 7:30 blowing leaves right infront of each room and it took them 45 min!!! It was 8:15 when the finished. Who makes those decisions whoooo???

I am just really frustrated with the service. They don’t try to help. They want you to be quit. If ask for help they don’t listen and just say sorry even though it’s there responsibility to help. I don’t get it.

I will post this on every platform I find this hotel because this can’t...

WARNING: PLEASE READ, THIS PLACE IS A SAFETY HAZARD!!! If I could rate this place zero stars, I would. So many issues for a single night's stay. Upon arrival, everything seemed fine and we asked a friendly gentlemen at the front desk for extra towels and blankets as we had members of our party (of 4) that would be sleeping on the pull out sofa (that was advertised in the listing). We left for dinner and return later to no towels or blankets in the unit. We then head down to the lobby around 10:30 PM, to find that it was locked with the lights off. The hours of the lobby were listed as 7 AM - 12 AM, and with no phone or number to call, we were not able to get our blankets or towels. THEN, we discover that the "pull-out sofa bed" was in fact NOT a pull-out, but just regular couch, which was barely large enough for one person, let alone two. Again, nobody in the lobby, nobody to call to resolve this issue. The real nail in the coffin though was when one of us woke up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and the switch for the heater/fan in the bathroom quite literally fell out of the wall leaving exposed wiring and circuits. There was no way to turn off the heater as the switch had broken off, and while trying put the plastic switch back in its place, my friend actually got electrocuted. We were so scared that it was going to start a fire, and again, nobody in the office, no emergency line, nothing. At this point it was 2 AM, and we were considering calling the fire department as the bathroom heater was causing the entire unit to get uncomfortably warm. We ended up just shutting the door to the bathroom and hoping for the best until 7 AM when the lobby opened. When we went to the lobby to inform them of the falsely advertised room capacity, fire hazard, and lack of staffing during listed hours, the woman at reception seemed genuinely concerned and ensured us that she would have the manager call us later that afternoon, since he was not there at the time. Afternoon and evening go by, no call. Next day, no call. I call back, and once again I am ensured that the manager will contact me. He never did. This was nearly one month ago. Just spend the extra money to stay LITERALLY...
