We checked into the Comfort Suites, Manchester TN, on February 21, 2018 at approximately 6:30 PM. As we unpacked our bags, we noticed there were a couple of lady bugs crawling on a wall. We killed them and flushed them down the toilet. After a few minutes, we noticed more and more lady bugs crawling around the room. We killed nine more bugs and again flushed them down the toilet. I called the front desk and told them I killed 11 lady bugs and would like to be moved to another room because it appeared the lady bugs were getting into the room somehow and I didn’t want to be killing lady bugs all night.
The front desk person said Tennessee was experiencing their spring thaw and all rooms had a lot of lady bugs in them. She said it happens at this time every year. She said that any room we would move to would have the issue with the lady bugs and all hotels in the area were experiencing the same issue. Since it is getting late in the evening and starting to rain, we decided to stay at the hotel rather than moving to another hotel in Manchester.
Before we went to sleep, we killed approximately 34 additional lady bugs and two flies. We slept with the covers over our heads because we didn’t want any of the bugs crawling on us as we slept. The next morning, we got up, showered and left the room as quickly as we could. Before we did, we counted 42 live lady bugs crawling around the room as well as two flies. We did not bother killing any of them since we were leaving. Over a period of less than 12 hours, we had 87 lady bugs and four flies in our room, Room 423.
In the morning, we saw another guest while waiting for the elevator and commented about the lady bug infestation at the hotel. He said he only saw a couple of lady bugs in his room. It really makes me mad the front desk person was not honest with me and she should have moved us to another room that had less of an infestation. It appeared the hotel was not very busy on a Wednesday night and I feel they could have moved us to another room that was not infested with lady bugs.
After I got home, I also contacted three hotels which were located a short distance from the hotel. I asked if they experienced lady bugs in their guest rooms and all said no. If the Comfort Suites have such a bad infestation of lady bugs, they should have let us know upon check-in of the situation or called us prior to arriving at the hotel. That way, we could have made alternate arrangements rather than staying in a bug infested room.
I have lots of photographs if you would like...
Read moreThis property is ironically on Hospitality Blvd. As a diamond member With over 300 rooms a year I always call ahead to make sure properties can accommodate trucks with trailer. They list truck parking however google maps satellite view shows no such availability. Called and was told “oh yes we have truck parking, just park on the dead end street with no place to turn around a 75 foot truck. Arrived to a vacant desk, rang the bell glued to the counter, still no one. Dialed the hotel and the phone rang and the young girl came out. Gave her my info, and said to use the card on file from my companies travel agency. I was told they follow the book here I needed the card or authorization. I explained it was with sent via email or fax. She became argumentative and repeated the fact they follow the book here and repeated what I needed. I rent 300 rooms a year I understand this. I called my company who rents 4000 rooms a day with choice, and was told the authorization was sent to the property email. The lady told me that was a problem because they don’t have access to the GM email. I asked to contact the GM for assistance she made a face at me and said she’s not here… 4pm?? Really. Why can’t you call them. She repeated what I needed and they can’t get to the emails. I called the travel company and they told her it was already faxed. She said …well let me see. Guess what it was there… I had told her this already. But she was too busy using the phone at the desk when I said that . Tossed me my key on the desk and stepped away like I was sick. Didn’t put my rewards info in, didn’t respond to my question about breakfast WiFi or anything related to normal choice hospitality. Hotel DOES NOT have truck parking. Asked if my room was ready was told maybe in 30 minutes.. it’s now 430 pm. Very rude staff, hotel was clean but staff had carts like maintenance in several locations and was receiving a semi...
Read moreWe had a great experience at this hotel and I would definitely recommend. A few things were nice but fairly standard, but other things were heavenly.
Bathroom was fine but nothing special or extra. Shower water pressure was on the low side. Free hot breakfast was good but nothing amazing. Included eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, and waffle station, in addition to standard continental breakfast options. Served on paper plates. I saw (but did not have a chance to use) a decent indoor pool, a workout room of some type, and coin-op guest laundry facilities.
What set this hotel apart was the spacious, well-appointed room and the most comfortable bed I've ever had in a hotel. We had a king suite with a half wall separating sleeping area from "living room" area including a desk, task chair, coffee table, armchair, and loveseat. Desk featured charging station with five standard electrical outlets and two USB ports - perfect for our recharging all our devices (and mobile chargers!) after a long day on the road. I think there was also a CAT5 or some other cable port. Wide screen TV had both HDMI and USB ports. We streamed Netflix via a laptop and the internet connection was okay but did time out occasionally. The loveseat pulled out into a twin-size bed and the front desk had well put-together packets of bedding and pillow - we did have to go down and get it and it would have been nice if they would have brought it up to us. But the best reason to stay there was the bed. Best rest I've ever had in a hotel. For that alone, I would...
