“Note to Manager: DON'T SKIMP ON HOUSEKEEPING STAFF” MANAGER SHOULD BE ASHAMED AND RUN OUT ON A RAIL FOR HIS ABUSE OF EMPLOYEES & OVERCHARGING CUSTOMERS FOR FILTHY ROOMS Due to a major remodeling job at my home I had to spend the night elsewhere with little notice so I chose this motel since it was close to my home, a "Brand Name" facility, and relatively new so I assumed it would be a smart and economic choice just for one night. Rule #1: Never Assume. The first thing I noticed in the first room I was given, was the fact that it had not been vacuumed as evidenced by the peanuts and other unidentifiable things scattered about which of course got me wondering if it had been cleaned at all, so I began to look around and as you can see in the photographs there was dirt and dust on nearly every surface in the room and not just the "Oops, I missed a spot" kind, but the kind so thick & sticky you could tell these areas have been neglected for a while. I'm not usually a white glove sort of person but when you see the ice bucket has old filth and sticky fingerprints on it, the coffee maker still smells of coffee and has old coffee residue in it, the toilet hasn't been cleaned, the hairdryer, bedpost, closet & table tops have thick stick to your finger type dust collections, you have to wonder as well...was the bed linen even changed or has someone just been making the bed and calling it a clean room? So I call the front desk and just state "I am really going to need to be moved" and explain my reasons as well as show the desk clerk pictures. She offers me another room and apologizes. She is very kind, and it's obvious she truly feels bad about the room and quickly relocates me to what I guess is considered a suite in the Microtel franchise because it has a sofa, refrigerator and microwave. Things that are usually standard in most other hotel chains, but I knew before coming what to expect so that's not my complaint here. My complaint is that in this second room were the same issues as found in the first room. The second set of pictures will confirm that as well. Sadly, I didn't have the heart to tell the desk clerk about this 2nd room because she had a long line of other guests to attend to and is the only employee on the property to handle whatever issues that occur on a Friday night or any night, because I asked after what I saw in the first room and she said she would have to clean the room herself and of course she said she would be glad to do so, but I felt terrible to even ask since it was obvious she was very busy just taking care of all the front desk matters and was the only employee onsite. She was very kind, professional, and clearly a very hard worker with way too much responsibility on her shoulders. The problem with this property is management or lack there of. I understand mistakes happen and am usually very patient with people as a rule, but this kind of dirt, dust and filth doesn't happen overnight or from one previous guest. This is long-term neglect and needs to be addressed by management wherever they may be. This is shameful and a poor representation of the town of Manchester. And since I can't go home yet, and it's a friday night/almost 4am Saturday to be exact and the better hotels in our small town are booked, I am unable to sleep because I'm concerned about the cleanliness of my bed linens and I wait for the ok to go home. Thanks Microtel!

Read moreMy son and I made reservations through hotel booking.com for microtel in manchester tn on june the seventeenth. However, upon arrival that evening we were informed. That's a reservation had been pushed to two weeks ahead and it must have been a glitch in the system. Microtel informed us that we would have to reach out to both of the parties and if they agreed then they would refund the payment. After three days I received an email from hotel booking dot com saying that microtel was refusing to refund the payment after they had already agreed with both other parplease to refund the money. 2 weeks went by and not a word from microtel. My son and I went to microtel and finally spoke to the manager who wasn't available everytime we called and no response email. He informs us there is nothing he can do now because the room was a no show. The reservation was supposed to be canceled that night and I received email confirmation from hotels.com stating that microtel was refusing to refund the payment even after they agreed. So since the reservation was never canceled like it was supposed to be my card was charged. Microtel boldfaced lied and this is terrible business practice especially since I'm 77 and In Poor health.Lot 77 year old mother and I made reservations through a third party booking agency booking.com with Microtel on June 17th of 2025 however when we arrived that afternoon to check in Forever reservations Microtel front desk informed us that there had been a glitch in the system and that the reservation was actually for two weeks later on June 30th now obviously this mistake I was informed by Microtel was no problem and I just needed to reach out to the two other parties involved and if they agreed to a refund Microtel honor the refund as well 3 days goes by and I get a email from booking.com informing me that Microtel is going to stick to the original policy and not refund my money however they had already agreed the evenings and me and my mother had arrived that they had no problem with the refund as long as the other two parties agree my mother is a witness to this my next step will be small claims court and I have all the emails confirming this they also did not give me a reservation number for a week I was using an itinerary number and they couldn't even find the reservation in the system and I could not even use their online services without this reservation number to make the cancellation which was supposed to be taken care of by Microtel once they received email confirmation...
