By far worst hotel experience of my life, (I have traveled the entire country (minus Alaska, North Dakota, Montana) for the past three years, checking into hotel after hotel, after hotel, after hotel … not a lie ).
Anyway, do not get scammed by being told” yes you can check in early” but with no mention of an added fee, and then you walk into their office, all happy for the early check-in, and find out there is gonna be a $20 fee . Of course, here I am … “Oh, why do you not say this when I call on the phone” his response “ because most people JUST pay it “ I proceeded to let them know that it was misleading and I will not be paying the fee, so I went down to the Apple Store to try to get my iPad unlocked because I forgot my password after buying it two days prior. To stay on topic, as far as I understand no business in all of California is allowed to ask for anything related to service dog, and here we go, oh, do you have your card? We go back-and-forth on this topic for me to end up saying I am just going to cancel because I am way too exhausted to deal with it but , I am going to end up suing them.
Update 20 minutes later, reviewed the laws went, checked into my room at their hotel due to me not having much sleep in the last four days from driving to up to Oregon and then down here from Bay Area in 4 days..…. Owner was there and a Manhattan Beach police officer handling a different issue with this hotel but he was there also then verifying everything I said was true. They denied comping my room, were incredibly argumentative without raising their voices but honestly could not wrap their head around the idea that American white girl is correct, ( I am feeling discriminated against) and even said it is in their policy that they are allowed to ask for service animal information which is AGAINST FEDERAL LAW and now I am getting on the phone with a lawyer who will show them that this is unacceptable. . I told them how much this could cost them. Owner looks at the cop to see if this is true instead of believing the customer because what they said they had problems before…. to do this to, you should have just comped my room because then I would not have been able to sue you. I tried to be nice and easy. Not the case of them and now this is going to escalate!
(I literally have a video recording and let them know I have a video recording (while recording )of them asking for inappropriate documents . Shame-shame on you hotel Pacific Manhattan Beach. )
Please do let me know if you want to settle this out of court with this full understanding that I am not letting this go. You know who I am Golubev rm 120 on 12/11/2023.
(There is obviously more dialogue to be said here but you get the gist)
Outside of the customer service and illegal asking of my privacy documents. The room is big got the king room upgraded. The smell is a bit strong but not of cigarettes or anything foul, television works and bed is...
Read moreCame and stayed for a family trip to have beach time and enjoy the theme parks. One star for location and price, and that’s about all it has going for it. I was horrified about the prior reviews that mention bed bugs, roaches, and an ant infestation. Upon arrival I was warning my family to look at the beds and check mattresses etc. we didn’t see any obvious signs for bed bugs so that was good. Felt good enough to rest our heads after long days at Disney. Here’s where the place lost its ratings. For starters the exterior and hallways are grimey. And I mean grime…is it Los Angeles pollution? Is it years of use? I’ll never know but the textured walls and ground seemed to be covered in black. Paint peeling everywhere and housekeeping was trying to mop with a once white (now black) rag on a broom? After day one the ants began infesting. They were attracted to the wet shower floor towel and anyone’s swimsuit if not immediately hung up. Yes several made their way into beds but they weren’t too big of a nuisance, just gross. We rented a conjoined family suite that consisted of two rooms, two bathrooms, and four queen beds. Why on earth would they only accommodate the entire rental that sleeps 8, with only 4 towels? Every single day house keeping would only leave four. We’d make a daily call and ask for more towels, being assured housekeeping would bring us some and yet not once did anyone ever come. This was consistent across the entire week. On our second to last night one of the shower drains became backed up. Doing our best to unblock the drain (with a plastic water bottle) we were unsuccessful in getting it to drain. What was a success was pulling up a creature from the black lagoon pictured below. Once again a call to the front desk, they took my nephew to a utility closet to give him a plunger for us to finish the job lol? While in the closet my nephew saw bags of new folded towels and asked to have more towels. He was turned down and again, all 8 guests were left to figure out how to use the 4 given. We ended up at target buying towels at our expense to get by. After examining the room to make sure nothing was left behind I realized the renovations went to the lowest bidder. Everything down to the paint was a hack job or came from a remnant pile. It had running water and got the job done despite having a new collection of target towels to take home. It was definitely a one star experience, a homeless shanty would have...
Read moreThe location was great for a 20 minute walk to the beach seemingly without many other options for hotels closer to the beach. So, location was good.
There were restaurant options along Sepulveda to the North or you could walk to the beach of more options. There were a variety of fast food and very nice restaurants.
The hotel itself was pretty terrible: -The courtyard appears to be an old covered up pool with 3 or 4 chairs on it. Not much inviting space to get away from the smelly room. -The Wave, their sister hotel next door had a pool but it was green and closed. They kept telling us that it would be ready the next day but after 4 days it looked worse than when it started so I don't think they were really doing anything to it. The breakfast bar had a non working waffle maker that didn't work for all 4 days. (They did have a waffle batter dispenser) It did not look like they were ever planning to do anything to fix this. At the sister hotel next door, they had a working waffle maker but their waffle batter machine was not working. Perhaps if they moved them around they could have at least had one location where you could get some breakfast. -The room always felt damp and humid, including the carpet and sheets. This was very uncomfortable and probably added to the smell. They brought us new towels each day but never made the beds once. -The walls had patches all over them but were not repainted. They TV never really worked because it could never find a proper internet connection and you would need to enter your own login for any streaming service. So, they essentially provided no access to TV. -The shower looked to be in a state of being upgraded. It looked like they were going to add a shower door so there were holes drilled in the tile. It was probably getting water inside contributing to the moldy smell. -The room and bathroom smelled like enough bad things that it was difficult to tell if it was paint, mold, mildew, urine, or all of the above. -One pillow had a hole in it with stuffing coming out. -We were able to get one blanket, which also had holes in it. No other blankets were available for the remaining 3 days. -No tissues in the tissue dispenser -No soap dish or anything in the sink area for the one skinny bar of soap that was provided for 4 days. -Receptacles were so loose that power cords would not actually stay...
