Booked this motel for a quick stop over at LAX. ||||Pros: ||Good price and free parking, about 20% below average hotels in the area. ||The rooms are clean, of decent size, including bathroom. ||Location is close to LAX (10 minutes) or 15 minutes from the rental car lots. Lots of shops around and close to Manhattan Beach. ||On a busy road (PCH) but quiet enough. ||||Cons: ||The WiFi doesn't really work before 7am and 11:30pm. The signal was weak and the connection was unstable. some of the devices (e.g., laptop) worked, some (phone, iPad) didn't, Even a connection was made, there was no internet activity. Likely a result of too many users for the network to handle. Should be a simple problem to fix considering it's only a 60 room facility. ||||We arrived in late morning after a red eye. The front desk staff said that they have room but if we check in early, it will be charged an extra day. ||||Maybe for COVID purposes, the housekeeping staff told us that they would only supply additional towels but not doing daily cleaning. ||||Shower water pressure is very weak. ||||Location requires a car. ||||All rooms require stairs. No elevators. ||||It should be a good place for many...
Read moreI booked this while in New York City with no idea of the surrounding area. All I knew is most of all the other hotels are twice the price of this place. Upon arriving it’s dated, but it is under construction being remodeled. The front counter guy was super nice and handed me an old fashion key, which I totally laughed about. Getting to the room if you’re disabled is a challenge because there are steps but there’s not too many even for the first floor and the room is clean again it is dated but it’s spacious and everything works good. With the exception of the light socket behind the headboard, I had to reroute two other sockets. Bottom line is I would probably stay here again for a budget short stay . After a full night I’ll add the shower nozzle when tilted all the way up hits my chest height. The water pressure is sad. The bath towels are half size and there’s no where to hang them to dry except the clothing hangers. Small negatives but definitely irritating. Oh, and no coffee….. eeek. Hopefully with the remodel all those issues will...
Read moreWhen it comes to hotels, we adopt the mentality that it’s a place to rest your head in between exploring new places... The Seahorse Inn motel was perfect for this, and if you like to travel like us.. I would absolutely recommend. . The room was spacious, and would be worth 5* rating on Trip Advisor for a 2* property if it wasn’t for the air con. The room got quite hot both in the day and evening as the (air con system was quite small and underpowered for the space. The host and staff were friendly, there is a decent amount of car parking on site, it’s easy to find, and 20 minutes walk (yes - walk) from both Hermosa and Manhattan beaches... we stayed for 3 comfortable nights, and aside from struggling to work out how to use the shower initially, had a very comfortable stay. ||Other reviews rate the Mexican restaurant next door but having spent a week in Mexico prior to heading to California, we were all good for Mexican food, but the Mongolian BBQ opposite, and Panda Express up the road are walkable and very good cheap eats.||Would...
