Updated review from 2 to 1 due to response from owner.
First time here, never again.
Do not expect to sit inside, order from take out window only. There are benches and tables visible from the outside.
Ordered Baja tacos. 4 street tacos with bag of nachos and selection of 3 meats. You only get 2 of 3 available. Not all 3 plus 1 extra. It's ok, pretty basic. Meat is cooked well but lacks seasoning.
Friends ordered al la carte tacos and there is a huge disparity between taco sizes. The al la carte tacos are significantly bigger than baja street tacos. I guess it's not a bad thing but it'll be good to know before you order too much. Like the Baja tacos, the food is cooked well but it's bland.
This name of this place is fitting for the type of food served.
Response from owner: "You were a problem upon arrival, while ordering, and now with your review. We accept your promise to "never again" come to our business."
Reviewer response: I don't know what you talking about. I wascourteous and complied with your 2 meat selection only and changed my order. Why can't I have one of each?? Doesn't make sense as other places you can do that and you can find what you like.
No tip cuz no where to sit at your establishment.
Unless you have sometbing specific about how I was a problem, call me out. Otherwise learn to take criticism about your food.
Shout out to Baskin Robin's for allowing us to sit at...
Read moreI kind of hate giving a negative review on a business when the staff are so friendly and helpful, but I went to this restaurant because Google maps recommended it and from the photos on Google maps, I thought the food looked tasty.
If you have ever been to England or heard about the lack of seasoning in their food, you might begin to understand why I was so disappointed with El Gringo Manhattan. Actually, the difference between this place and food in England is that every item the three of us has at El Gringo was so very salty, when in England there isn't much salt or any other seasoning in their food.
The other problem my family and I had was the lack of taste besides salt and a hint of metallic flavor in each item.
So, I had a one item combination meal for $11, a chili relano for $5 and a Shirley Temple that cost a whopping $3.75. That drink taste like a weak Sprite. My 12 soda lover wouldn't drink the entire soda. My wife had an alacart enchilada that cost $4 and my daughter had a barrito with a salad off the kids menu. All of that equaled just over $28.
That was a one timer for all of us. If you like salty American style Mexican food, then you will probably enjoy El Gringo Manhattan. If you only like the real thing and not seasoned with a truck load of salt like me and my family, then I wouldn't...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite places to eat in the South Bay. They have a few other locations but I have been to this one the most. I like that its kind of cozy so it isn't too big so large groups over 8 would be tough. Parking lot is a bit small but there is a Post Office parking lot you can use after hours. Their menu is full of normal Mexican fare and there are combinations. They also have a kids menu they hand out with crayons. Personally my go tos are, I love the soup (Xolchi, pronounced sol-chee) It has chicken rice and avocados, it is hearty and healthy especially if you're feeling under the weather. My other favorite are all the burritos are great, one of my favorites is the Asher (it has egg, chicken & Avocado). They have great fresh chips and salsa too. The staff is always amazing and helpful. My kids...
