Just spent four nights at The Wave. Yes, the hotel is under remodeling construction, and the pool is temporarily closed (but we were allowed to swim in their partner hotel's pool across the street). However, we were informed before arriving, AND were offered, on arrival, to stay at their partner hotel, which was directly across the street. We declined. CONS: no dressers in the room, clothing rack pole kept falling down due to improper cut, only 2 hangers in room (but after experiencing their customer service, I'm certain they would have provided more if we had asked). Motel-like rooms that open to the outside, although a courtyard and iron pool fencing offer an intimacy not provided by true motel outside rooms. Not fancy (privately owned). Bed scarf a bit dusty due to fabric type. PROS: THE STAFF!!!!! The staff was SO helpful. And friendly. Anything we needed was addressed. Mona was awesome. Our tv wasn't working, so we called and she personally showed up, 30 seconds later, and immediately addressed it. Breakfast area is good size and the staff regularly tends to it. Sturdy Chinette type paper plates. Coffee available in evening in main lobby for guests. Parking garage beneath hotel. Busy street, but otherwise safe location and convenient to beach, pier, restaurants and shopping. Room was clean, bed comfy, and room service did a TERRIFIC job each day. If you expect an Embassy Suites experience on a Super 8 dime, you'll be disappointed. But if you're looking for a clean room in a safe location and your expectations are very reasonable, you will likely find The Wave to meet your needs. They accomodated our family of 6 well, and we would definitely stay...
Read moreI was worried to book this hotel based on the reviews but I’m so glad I decided to go with it. I fear a lot of people writing these reviews are paying budget prices and expecting the world. But for the review purpose, I paid $80 for a hotel room for 1 nights stay and I’m pretty happy!! Wifi was great, room was massive. There was a slight musty smell in the bathroom, likely due to the extractor fan not being very strong but honestly, pretty ignorable. Bed was comfy, no bedbugs and no weird stains or hairs in the bed, also tested with a UV light 🤷🏼♀️ many people had mentioned cockroaches but we saw no bugs at all. The hotel has luggage carts in the main lobby too. Saw some people had an issue with parking. The hotel has an underground parking garage which for $80, with how good the area is - I was pretty blown away by that. Parking is usually a nightmare!! Plenty of spaces, LOTS of cameras & it felt very safe. Couldn’t hear people in the room next to me - If anything we heard some maintenance the following morning around 9am but since we were checking out - it wasn’t a problem. Both staff members at front desk were pleasant. Breakfast looked sparse but I never get hotel breakfasts so it wasn’t an issue to me. Housekeeping crew was very attentive and were up early cleaning the rooms. Pretty cute set up of the hotel tbh, pool looked clean though I didn’t use it since we got in late and despite it being a little outdated on decor, I really only care about the cleanliness and I have no...
Read moreAt 11:35 pm the night of I booked a king bed room here at the wave. I called in to verify there would be no issue with me checking in after midnight (typically the lobby will close at 12). The gentleman who answered my call was pleasant and very helpful, he offered to hang tight for ten extra minutes so I could check in to their last available room for the night(fully booked on a Saturday night!!). He was amicable and welcoming(an older gentleman with glasses).
The price was the best I found in pretty much all of LA, cheapest rooms with the best reviews and ratings as well!
The room was clean as a whistle!! Simple yet stellar. Fresh linens, mini fridge, desk, mini table with two chairs, sparkly clean bathroom, great shower with excellent water pressure, ac/heat worked like a charm, and overall a good amount of space.
The Wave offers free underground parking as well. I was mildly concerned when I saw the location was off Sepulveda (for reasons I won't get into⚠️👠💉🛒) but I was elated to find the property next to family homes and a much nicer area than I had anticipated. Starbucks was around the corner as was taco bell....tons of late-night eateries a hop and a skip away as well.
Overall, my last minute high-risk booking ended up being more than I could have asked for. A great place for a good price that doesn't cut corners on cleanliness or charge out the wazoo for parking. Nice employees. Safe location.
Thanks for a great stay!...
