I'm a nighshift nurse, & I came to Manhattan, KS to rest & prepare for a huge exam I had the next morning. I was in room 105 at the Quality Inn on 10/13/2024. I arrived at 3pm. I noticed it was generally dirty like everything needed wiped down & the floors needed cleaned, including the shower & the great jacuzzi tub they boasted about. The phone wasn't plugged in, so I plugged it in. It didn't turn on, so I couldn't call the front desk. The phone was labeled 106, so someone must have switched it. The TV wouldn't work. I was too tired at that time to care & decided to ignore it since I was going to watch netflix on my phone, but boy did I make a mistake. I got in my pajamas & take a 4 hour nap, because I was too tired to care, & I'm not generally a a Karen. I checked the bed to make sure the sheets were clean & changed. They were really crappy thin quality white sheets, & the pillows were weird & lumpy, but it seemed clean. When I turned the lights off, there was a slit across the shade that didn't go all the way through, so it wasn't noticeable until the lights were out & light streamed through. I hopped in bed. Thank God I sleep in the day & work at night, because I got to witness what most people don't notice until after they are bit. I woke up at 9 pm. I turned to my right & there were big well-fed bed bugs on the pillows next to me. I screamed, jumped out of bed & landed in a pool of water from the fridge that leaked onto the floor while I slept! With wet socks & a feeling of terror, I pulled the sheets back, & the bed bugs were everywhere. I took photos next to my key card. I investigated more. I found stains on the bed quilt I didn't noticed before. The coffee pot was filthy & not clean enough for anyone to use. There was small structure damage, mostly in the bathroom, so I'm betting there are termites & cockroaches. Dirty bathroom. The toilet paper holder was missing. Toilet paper was sitting on the back of the toilet. After taking photos, I ran to the front desk in pjs, socks, & no bra to complain & get a refund. I showed them pictures. I asked them to come see for themselves since they were all still partying on the bed. The manager said no. He didn't want to risk taking them into his home! No kidding eh!!! Then they had the audacity to print off a receipt from the people that stayed there before me with a name, address & phone number, trying to blame them!!! I highly doubt it was them. The bed bugs seemed right at home likely infesting the entire hotel. I wish I had screenshotted it to warn them! I'm thinking giving out private info was illegal! The manager seemed unbothered like it is just an everyday occurrence there. He offered another room down the hall with a jacuzzi tub. I said absolutely not. He offered a full refund. I accepted. It took an hour or so to get through to booking.com. By then the manager had left! What kind of manager leaves in the middle of something like this. Booking.com refused to authorize the refund until the hotel manager sent authorization. It was a 3 hour ordeal to find out I would need to wait until morning. I got my refund the next day. I left my pillow, pjs, & underclothes there. I took a shower with towels on the shower floor & put on new clothes. Thank God I had kept all my luggage & shoes off the floor & away from upholstery. I inspected everything carefully. It was midnight by the time I fled the house of horrors. I found another hotel by 1 am to shower in again, inspect my luggage again, get some rest, study, & breakfast before my exam. I barely made it through my exam awake! I'm going to be pissed if I failed this $600 exam. After my exam, I sprayed everything with expensive bed bug spray & washed everything on high heat. Booking.com offered me a $10.90 cash credit! Are you kidding me??!! 🤣 I'm owed more than that, maybe a week's stay free somewhere clean & not Quality! However, I am much more concerned about the health of others than I am about money. I contacted the health department. Do not enter that building unless you enjoy taking home...

**Decent sized in-room refrigerator and microwave **Located near the mall/IMAX theater and a small grocery store for convenient supply runs and entertainment **Room was clean upon arrival **Free breakfasts in the lobby were decent enough
Negative:
The negatives about this trip started before I was even en route to Kansas when I managed to miss my original flight (don't ask, it was stupid). I had two choices for resuming my trip: fly on a different airline that same night (by purchasing an additional ticket) or use my ticket for the next flight out with my original airline the next morning. Obviously, this would require some contact with the hotel staff to ensure my hotel reservation would not be canceled automatically when I didn't show up my first scheduled night. I didn't have any problem paying for my entire booked stay since it was my own fault causing the issue. Unfortunately, every call made to the hotel through the phone number, pulled directly from my confirmation email, went completely unanswered...for 30 straight minutes and a dozen attempts. I don't care how busy or understaffed a hotel (or any business at all) might be, this is simply unacceptable. Not being able to confirm my reservation would remain intact meant my flight options were effectively reduced to one, costing me a lot more money than being able to fly out the next day. (As a side note, I called again before the new flight took off and again after I landed in KC to make sure the hotel hadn't randomly closed up business and still never had my call answered).
**Highly overpriced for the "quality" **Double beds only option for multi-bed rooms instead of 2 queens **Beds only slightly better than sleeping on the floor **Pillows provided zero support. Thin enough for sunlight to pass through **"Blackout" curtains about as useful as a bedsheet (see photos) **Hotel adjacent to active train tracks. Close enough for the random, middle-of-the-night trains to shake the entire room (see photos) **Bathroom door opens so it slides against the toilet bowl (see photos)
In summary, I would never stay at this hotel again and I highly recommend that you don't waste your...
Read moreThe girl at check in wasn't very polite, there were maybe 4 at most rooms being used, and for some reason we were stuck right beside someone else who was up all night being loud, ppl knocking on windows and doors. Bathroom wasn't very clean and the toilet was broken, the hot tub was cracked in several places and there was freezing cold outside air blowing in our room thru the wall unit...when it's -15 outside. There was no carpet on the floors, so we tracked water/snow into our room and had to use the towels to wipe that up as we came and went each time. The room was very dark, and the bed wasn't comfortable at all...the pillows were terrible as well. There was no recommendations folder for restaurants or places to go and visit...there was no fan in the bathroom, so going to the bathroom and being basically in the same room as one using the bathroom wasn't very pleasant. The hotel itself was dark, they advertised that there was a pool open until 11pm...yes there's a pool...but no water in it. The vending machine area smelled like rotten eggs. Check in process was fast that was good, and no housekeeper pounding down the door before check out...so that was also good. The water pressure in the shower was very light, but they had hot water that lasted for 4 plus showers. We stayed there due to our pipes freezing and needing to shower, so it wasn't like we didn't have other options, the price was great so that was our go to in our situation. If we needed to stay again due to not having water at our house from pipes freezing, we probably would...however I wouldn't recommend it to family or friends as it wasn't very comfortable, warm or a quiet place to rest especially if traveling or staying longer...
