-Used tissues, makeup remover wipes, and one-use applicators left around the store -Some one-use applicators were out at the stations, so you couldn't test products -Haughty and unhelpful staff
Here's the long version: I visited on a Monday afternoon with my mother to help her find a new shade of matte natural eyeshadow. We were the only customers in the store. Three sales associates greeted us at the door where they were standing in a circle chatting; after we said we were going to browse, they promptly went back to gossiping and completely ignored us. Usually that's fine with me; I hate shopper stalkers. However, my mother and I repeatedly had trouble finding applicators (q-tips, sponges, etc) to test out the products because their cubbies were empty at more than one station we went to. We did, however, find used applicators and tissues with old makeup on them balled up into a pile near the mirrors. I thought that was odd; if there are three employees there and zero customers, why hadn't anyone restocked the applicators and done a sweep of the store for cleanliness?
We moved to the MAC station near the front door since it was the nearest area that actually had a stock of applicators and one of the employees noticed we were trying eyeshadows. By that point, I'd swatched three different matte MACs (using a q-tip) but none of them were quite what my mother was looking for. The employee asked if we needed any help, and we told her we were trying to find a natural-tone matte that could be worn everyday, and she took the tester palettes. I thought this meant she was going to help us find a good product - I was wrong. She said in a haughty voice, "Well I'm going to put these back because these are the testers we only use for our clients." and she walked off. We waited to see if she'd come back, but she went back to gossiping with her coworkers.
My mom and I looked at each other - so I guess we're NOT clients? We came there with the intention to try and buy products. Guess that's not what a "client" is. We left without purchasing anything and won't be going back. Makeup shopping is supposed to be fun and clean, this store won't help with that. Get your stuff...
Read moreIt had been about 2 years since I had my last haircut. Mind you I had curtain bangs, short layers in the front, and long layers in the back. My daughter also had to get a haircut. I didn't feel like driving to Kansas City for a haircut and figured this place would be good. I mean, it's Ulta, right? Fast forward to the day of the cut. My daughter's haircut was immaculate, probably because it was simple. I asked for a one layer medium length bob that came to her shoulders, and no bangs. Now.... When it came to my haircut... I had about 3/4 reference photos and a picture of how I had it cut about 2 years ago and how it looked on me. The hair stylist was all like "Yeah, I can totally do this." I was like "Awesome, let's go!" I told her the length and off she went. I KNEW she messed up when I saw the AMOUNT of hair hitting the floor. This girl not ONLY cut my hair TOO short. She also messed up my bangs, I had no short layers in the front, and long layers in the back. My freaking haircut looked exactly like my 9 year old daughter's haircut. She then had the audacity to ask if I wanted a blowout and asked for a tip. Like... what?! You have me walking around looking like Lord Farquad and you asking for a TIP?! You're insane. If you COULDN'T have done curtain bangs WITH layers you could've just said that. Anyways, now with my completely jacked up hair, I'm stuck with waiting for it to grow out beautifully long again and to actually get it cut by a REAL salon and stylist this time. If you want to go here and get the same cut with no style, layers, or expertise then 100% this place is for you! But, if you're serious about hair and love your hair... Steer clear of this diaster of a salon and their stylists. Because...
Read moreThe first time I came to this Ulta, the associate at the door did not greet me but greeted everyone who came in after me; I didn’t think anything of it, and I went to the pickup counter. After an associate finally came, she said, "What are you here for?" In a rude tone, I told her I was there for a pickup; it took 5 minutes. I hadn’t gone back since because I prefer to be treated nicely, until today. I went in and wasn’t greeted, which is fine because there was no one up front except the cashier; three employees came from the back and two were leaving, so I waited for the person checking their bags to be finished. I started to ask if she could help me find a concealer, but she walked past me, and since I’d been standing there for twenty minutes by that point, I decided to just leave. I totally get that it was two hours until closing, but every time I go there, the associates act as if I am not there. I’ve worked at retail stores before, so I understand the desire to get everything done before going home, and I don’t expect to be waited on hand and foot, but getting the bare minimum...
