Worst Best Western Ever! Cant give 0 stars!! The Motel 6 down the road is better for half the cost. Not worthy of the BW name!
Stayed here 7/10-7/12
Room: Floor was dirty when we came into the room. One chair was pushed up against the wall to hide an exposed outlet. Computer chair doesn’t work properly and was shoved under the desk area.
Bathroom: sink backs up within seconds, fan broken/not working, tub plug covered in mold and stripped threads prevent use for a bath. Shower head caked with calcium/ hard water build up.
Bed: tags say Queen however did not measure to the full 80”L by 60”W instead measured at 77”L by 57”W, being more like a large Full instead of a proper Queen. Accent light under one bed broken.
Appliances: Fridge wasn’t set to a cold temp, some of our food went bad as a result. A/C felt more like a swamp cooler and failed to keep room at a comfortable temperature. Units on several neighboring rooms appear to be leaking and in disrepair. TV cable has intermittent connection issues. Remote for TV didn’t work properly, most likely due to the battery cover being missing and covered with electrical tape.
Amenities: No pool or hot tub as advertised. Breakfast was minimal at best. Laundry machines overpriced at $3 for wash and $1.75 for dryer that didn’t fully dry on first run. Machines and laundry room appear to have never been cleaned. Ice machine rusted and not cleaned, Building exterior shows signs of damage with sub wall showing through in many locations. Many of the wood supports show rot with rusted brackets. Nearly all handrails on stairs show severe rust.
Staff: Housekeeping was very polite and responsive when we had to request for more towels since the room only had 3 towels and one washcloth for a 4 guest reservation. Front desk staff however either ignored us for personal cellphone use or cordially strung us along when it came to getting maintenance personnel to our room to repair. They also fail to pick up the phone when calling...
Read moreI honestly can not recommend the Best Western Marina State beach hotel. Although the staff was friendly there were a fair amount of issues that need to be addressed. Firstly heater / AC did not work so the rooms temperature dropped to around 50 degrees or less during the night, the television although did turn on, just went through an never ending scrolling list of channels and ultimately was unwatchable, the lights in the middle of the bed were broken and the alarm clock had to be unplugged due to the static constantly going off. The bathroom had stains along the walls and a leak at the corner of the bathtub with mold growing and stagnant water causing damage, everything including the shower, water sprayer for the fire alarm and towel rack was covered in rust / mold. Also, I don't want to forget the long strand of womens hair that was stuck to the ceiling. Once we came to the lobby the main portion of the hot breakfast was down when we arrived during the 6 to 9 hours of operation. Although they were working on re-filling but after seeing the poor sanitary conditions we decided we'd rather pay elsewhere.
Now understandably this sounds like alot of cons and you'd be correct but it really doesn't stand a chance against the biggest pro. Because my girlfriend and I were terrified of the poor sanitary conditions, freezing cold, and fear of other unknown issues we ended up closer together than ever before. The broken tv forced us to talk more and the unsanitary conditions got us on the same page for our future as a couple. Because of this we want to thank The Best Western Marina State Hotel for your awful accommodations. If any couple is looking to build on their relationship... I highly...
Read moreI booked in advanced one room for two nights, upon my arrival, I was given a key to a room that was already occupied. Went back to the front office and I was told they had no more rooms. I was then sent to the neighboring hotel, which looked sketchy to me. Went over and I was given a key to a room in the 3rd floor that reeked of cigarette smoke. I couldn't stay there as I have asthma. Went back to the front desk and told the guy there about the room situation and all he said, was, "Oh! then go back to the lady from the Best Western.' Mind you that on our way to the room and back to the from desk of the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, there were three rooms that had a sign that stated they had COVID! I went back to the Best Western front desk, Carmen, offered me my money back for the inconvenience. But as I told Carmen, that was not the solution as we had traveled from Los Angeles to spend the night. Where was I and my family to stay? Although Carmen and other lady apologize over and over, that wasn't solving my issue. They attempted to call the manage but he didn't answer his phone. After an hour and fifteen minutes of our arrival, Carmen and the other lady were able to find a clean and unoccupied room. I was exhausted of going back and forth and up and down by then. After we settled into the room our stay was pleasant. But since that day, the manager did not call us to apologize or offer any kind of compensation for the huge inconvenience. I was very disappointed with this stay. Every time we come to Monterey, we stayed at the Best Western Marina State Beach, but I think after this experience, it was our last time. I used to recommend them but...
