Atria Hotel and RV McGregor — Hotel in McGregor

My first and retained thought throughout my stay here, "This place would be a great hostile instead of a hotel!". (I've traveled to other countries and stayed in many hostiles, and love them. They add culture and random life-altering experiences. Try it! )

At Atria, the staff was friendly, and there's a cute-a$$ cat to love on that welcomes me. Late at night, upon my arrival, there was a drunken Tejano pool party with lots of laughter. The AC was out in the main areas, but on in the rooms (yas!).

I agree with previous review. Theree are some strong and unforgettable smells, but. .. it's a pet-friendly/smoker-friendly hotel, so what do you expect!?

This place is also NOT advertised as a 5-star hotel, and I feel like some of the bad reviews rate it like it IS. The prices I paid were AMAZING, even with Trump's takeover and pointless tariffs for the rich. (This hotel is in Trump-Country, FYI)

Elephant in the room: look around at the reviews of other hotels in this area who have complaints about roaches. They are MANY. It's TEXAS, and it's a tropical climate, so you are bound to see roaches year round. They are locals.

I was there 3 nights. While I did hear noise, I'm also a sensitive sleeper. My 1 star off is for a nasty carpet and weak a.f. shower head. The carpet is gross, and the pattern doesn't hide that (I suggest investing in laminate flooring).

♡ Otherwise, I feel like this was a chill haven. The 2nd floor in back has beautiful views of TX hill country, and stunning sunsets. Real people outside of the corporate machine stay here. There are some restaurants, gas stations, and a small grocery nearby. Very close to Waco and Woodway. And the TV screen is large. There's a microwave and mini fridge in some of the rooms, too.

Need to stay in this area on a budget? Then open your mind, and...

I was leary when I looked at SOME of the other reviews here (But always check out the reviewers (if they have only a few reviews under their belt) &/OR if they only do bad reviews, because yes there are bad places, but there are also bad "reviewers" too! lol) I leave neg reviews only when it's really neg, that being said:

This hotel was clean. I stayed here for 3 days (technically 2 days) I repeat it's clean. I saw no bugs. Beatles, roaches or bedbugs. I had a non-smoking room. The bed was ok, not a cloud... But not bad either. Very "do-able". The bathroom was clean, the linens were clean. The cleaning staff is doing their job. The common areas had no weird smell, I had no doubt that the room was properly cleaned. The pictures online matched the room. (Rm 115). I liked the romanstyle curtains that kept ALOT of light out when drawn shut. The hotel looks updated (or not outdated... Which ever, lol).

The pool was blue, clean and looked inviting in the middle of winter. They have ample space for cars, maneuvering of trailers, RVs and semi's. They are ADA compliant with service animals. As of Jan 2021 they are doing some remodeling in the front, so check to make sure they can (or that they are able) to provide their regular free breakfast as advertised.

The staff was friendly, answered any questions I had and were professional.

I have stayed in dives, endured bedbugs, etc... This place IS NOT like that. Someone wrote a previous review awhile back that it's a "working mans hotel" more than it being a family hotel. I don't agree. I would have no issue staying here again OR putting family up here.

I stayed at a holiday inn @Galviston beach (that paid ALOT more for what was absolutely subpart) when compared to this place.

Take some of these old and weird reviews with a grain of salt. It's a decent...

If I could attach pictures of the roaches I would some of them were huge and the reason I say some it's because there were so many of them I shoulda known that it was going to be a bad deal when I sat down on the toilet to use the restroom and I look over to the tub and there's a huge Roach looking at me throwing gang signs I also should have known that when I seen my shoes get up and move across the floor I should leave but me and my wife decided to call the desk and tell them about our problem they told us they would not refund our money and that we could just leave if we wanted to well guess what we did we left we ran we packed as hard and as fast as we could and to make matters worse they charged us twice for one evening and then when we told them about their mistake they said there's nothing they could do about it until Monday this is Friday Christmas 2015 but if I can find my review and I can add pictures and I can add a video I definitely have them because under the air conditioner was at least two dozen roaches behind the bed was one of the biggest roaches I've ever seen and he was ready to shank me and run hide as we were about to leave I believe all the roaches jumped in the car and tried to do a drive by I'm not exaggerating I have the video like I said if I can find where to add a video and pictures I would be more than glad to I would not recommend this place to no one not even my enemies I will never stay in McGregor again but the good thing about it my wife and a beautiful beautiful place to stay and that is Hotel Indigo in Waco Texas one of the swankiest best places I've stayed in a very long time heed my warning stay away from McGregors Atria Roach hotel you can check in anytime you like but you...
